JAL Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Absolutely spot on. Go through last nights team:- Raya - Youth product Henley - Youth product Hanley - Youth product Duffy - Bought from team relegated to league 1 Spurr - Bought from team relegated to league 1 Conway - Championship player Lowe - Youth Product Akpom - Played in league 2 just 2 years ago Marshall - Bought from Premier League Koita - Bought from French league 1 Delfeuseno - Bought from team relegated to league 1 That team has a high chance of going down with anyone in charge. A combination of an embargo and owners/board over the years has led us to this point and everyone thinks it's the manager.

thenodrog Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Dont blame Raya for the goal,.. I think we were solid at the back yesterday and thats a big plus! We must now work on scoring goals. you are his father I assume?
thenodrog Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Lowe at Right back is a daft idea for me. We need full backs who get up and down and can put a cross in. Henley can do that. Lowe on the other hand won't get beyond half way. He might be slightly more defensively solid but will offer hugely less than Henley going forward. Lowe needs to be dropped. rubbish. First job of any defender is to defend any attacking ability is a bonus. We have two lightweights at full back. playing against them must be a wingers dream. Lowe did fine last night. played 3 poor balls but did well the rest of the match by seeing things early, closing down and stifling cardiff. Whcilst no glenn hoddle his positioning coming from his reading of the game is very good. interesting to note that when the terrace goons were catcalling him for not lumping the ball forward he chose to keep possession and 3 passes later we equalised If he'd listened to the goons and lumped it forward it's odds on certain that we'd have lost the match. Sometimes i wonder why the lessons shown through the decades by the very top teams go ignored by gormless terrace know nowts.

Just why haven't Rovers won more games with Jason in the team theno?
ABBEY Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Jason Lowe was a danger ONLY to our own goal last night. How many passes backwards did he make compared to forward passes? A total abysmal performance from him. As for the team 1st half, no cohesion, no drive, no energy, no pride and no effort. 2nd half marginally better until the 83rd minute ! I have lost patience with Bowyer time to go Let ya mate know ...exactly how I saw it to . Bowyer is cuckoo land that's overrun by my little ponies and shining pink unicorns if he thinks we played well and with guts .very good post. but i think you might consult sam allardyce re:no booing or moaning before the venkymob trapped up. You bollocked someone other day for harping about the past
G Somerset Rover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 You're just so perfect, Theno. How do you do it?
thenodrog Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 You bollocked someone other day for harping about the past Did I? How odd. Everybody knows that there's not many on here who can even rem what they had for their dinner never mind what went on years back. You're just so perfect, Theno. How do you do it? Dunno. How come you aren't btw?

He may have gifted the ball away only 3 times. He also played many other poorly weighted balls. There were also numerous balls forward he didn't play that were available to anyone who hopes to play football at this level. There were also times with yards of space infront of him that, instead of moving forward and looking for options, he chose to play it back. I'm not talking Gazza-esque jinks here. I mean open space! When he's coming in from behind or sideways he can make a tackle. He made a cracking tackle just before they scored. However when a man is coming at him he continuously backs off and doesn't pressurise the guy on the ball. I also think his reading of the game is inept. Often you can see a man who needs picking up and he is slow to react. These are basic footballing attributes which he simply fails at. As for the "terrace goons", yes he generated a wave of frustrated groans when he elected to go backwards. However this was mainly in the first half when we were witnessing one of the most static, limited midfield performances by a team in the history of football. The highlight of this spell was when we actually created a promising raid with a chance to cross, and worked this situation into a ball back to Raya. The groans at Lowe and Akpan at this time were clear from within the Blackburn End. However in the last few minutes (indeed the last 20 minutes), I heard no catcalling at any player to lump it forward from within the Blackburn End. We were actually knocking it around quite well by then (thanks to Guthrie being central and Barrow / Marshall actually looking for the ball rather than being pinned out wide). The fact is some people have always rated Lowe and some people haven't. We are on opposite sides of this fence. However plenty of the rational posters on here, who have been neutral on this situation, are now openly criticising his selection. Maybe that tells its own story. Or maybe they are just turning into "goons" too. Edit - Plus having just watched the highlights, our equaliser came from a corner which was half cleared and tossed back into the box. No 'three pass' creativity there.
ABBEY Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Radio rovers reckon Lowe copped it big time , I heard nowt.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Unfortunately the question I posed after the Wolves game remains a valid one. Who exactly are we going to be good enough to beat under this manager? Cross Wolves, Shrewsbury! Huddersfield and Cardiff off the list. 20 more teams to try in this division.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 On Lowe, Gordon seems to be more or less alone in seeing some ability there. I've always regarded JLo as one of ours and the manager's major Achilles heels and it seems now most people are coming or have come round to my way of thinking. He may be a great bloke and all that but that doesn't necessarily mean he's good enough to play football at this level. Certainly not in midfield anyway. He's adequate at right back though imo.

Plus I've long been convinced theno just tries to be controversial anyway.

Plus I've long been convinced theno just tries to be controversial anyway. It's suprising Lowe gave the ball away a few times, by that I mean how often do you see him attempt a forward pass at all? It's as if he doesn't want the ball which means for our defence half the time there isn't even a pass on! All he does is run around in the centre and offer absolutely nothing other than a sideways or backwards pass, I like him as a person and he try's his best but he's simply not good enough to play in the centre of midfield in the championship and that has been evident in many games bar the odd few, Akpan Atleast has a physical presence and too me hasn't looked too bad from what I've seen of him. Akpan and Guthrie to start in the middle on Saturday please, barrow Marshall conway infront with Koita up top.

The axe in our promotion season? I'm sure he signed a few years after that? But you can't compare the Axe and Lowe. Unsung hero was the Axe I loved the guy.

Nope. I just see what I see and don't possess any ovine instincts. I don't rem slagging the axe overmuch. His ability was limited to be sure at Premier League level but he'd have been ok in this division. Needless to say we didn't even sign him until Mark Hughes was the Manager. Just how stupid are you? As for your attempt to suggest that I am colour prejudiced it shows you up as a pathetic individual with little intellect. Is it cos you is black? Just to out your agenda and disprove your insinuations at a stroke... I was one of Gestede's biggest admirers. tbh I was probably one of the first to sing his praises... http://www.brfcc.com/mb/index.php/topic/30012-boxing-day-rovers-v-weds-26th-december-2013/?p=1472500 There. onlyoneDuff Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 My mistake...felt like a promotion season as I believe he joined when we were in a relegation scrap and helped us beat the drop...felt like promotion to me That the time...as for drog...I stand by my statement that you have consistently if not covertly criticized roverd players of colour through the years...call me an idiot all you want hard man but pointing out that you have praised one player proves nothing...and what difference is my colour...proves my point
thenodrog Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Ok you are an idiot. You are attempting to chuck mud hoping some will stick for no other reason than to make mischief. Liking gestede does prove that I have no colour prejudice but if you need more then analyse this lot numpty. Loved bennymac, samba, jermaine jones, n'zonzi, hoillet and EHD. Bent did a decent job, Cole was a top player whilst Yorke had quality but was on easy street here. Blake, Brown and Roberts were puddings. Not seen much of the new guys yet but early judgement delfuenso looks a good player, akpan too, barrow a threat and koita a lummox. Time will tell on them all. Who have I missed?

I'll be honest Gordon, when it comes to the football side of things I'm usually in agreement with most of what you say, but it seems as though you've backed yourself into a corner re Lowe. In a midfield 2 he's a passenger, in a 3 he's right enough. If everyone else is saying he's rubbish and you're the only one defending him.....

Lowe has been poor so far this season - but where I will defend Gordon - even last season when he picked up a few MOM and had a reasonable season (until injury) there are some who will only pick on Lowes weaknesses and choose to ignore his strengths.

Most people would say he doesn't have any. Can't (or doesn't) shoot, tackle or get a toe in, pass the ball forward or more than 5 yards, get forward or harass and close the opposition down. We all know he isn't Glenn Hoddle as Gordon put it, trouble is, he isn't Robbie Savage either. Not by a very long stretch, and that's the crux of the matter.
