So, according to Nicko we are in talks with a championship club about signing one of their strikers. Clues so far:

He's English and Nicko rates him (he must be good then as Nicko rarely gives any praise to Rovers!).

Let the guessing games begin. Name revealed tomorrow morning, let's see if anyone can guess correctly.

Possible names are Simon Cox, Matty Fryatt, James Vaughan

Matt Smith

he is out injured for a number of weeks

How many strikers is he gonna buy?!

Dyche has now 7 strikers on his team sheet

he has bought 3 strikers so far this transfer windows. Chris Long, the German lad and Andre Gray.

Plus Leeds are looking to sign Forestieri for 3mil pounds from Watford

and we have 23 players in the squad who are establish players

It would be the ultimate kick in the teeth if we sell Rhodes and end up with Simon Cox who Kean originally wanted to sign. Hope it means Brown is on the way out.

Can't see why we've signed this Lawrence bloke that leaves Lowe/Marshall/ Conway/Taylor/Williamson/Evans/Akpan/Guthrie/Barrow/Lenihan/Tomlinson/OSullivan competing for a midfield slot. Twelve players!

As people have correctly said, the Academy lads must be thinking "Why bother?"

Edit Forgot Petschi. Thirteen! Unlucky for some. (Who get left out.)

It's amazing. Bowyer bleats that he can't compete for signings, we're under a transfer farrago and yet we're still signing players left right and centre.

it's like del boy trotter, wheeling and dealing. Because it sure as heck doesn't look like a gradual painstaking and skilful assembly of a promotion side.

Strange times.

Tommy Lawrence certainly seems to have bags of skill, in fact some were calling him the new Ryan Giggs not long ago, seems to

love running with the ball.

Not sure about Ryan Giggs, but I'd settle for the new Noel Brotherston.

The irony, Bryan, is that the players we are looking at are still players we'd be looking at if we came out of the embargo.

So why sell our best players - whilst keeping a coach-pretending-to-be-a-manager - to do so?!

This latest signing like P.Taylor last season seems like buying someone just for the sake of it.

"There's a squad place available so I'll fill it."

Alternatively, if Lawrence is so good, and GB always had him in mind, why sign the likes of Petschi before him who will never see any significant game time?

And some people claim GB hasn't had the backing of the owners. What's that, 36 players in now on his shift?

Good point players like Petshi can be picked up at anytime from around Europe, and he came in before Guthrie too.

Its 2-3 every transfer window or loan window, thats the reason his number of signings is so high, and the reason why in my opinion he can't complain about FFP, as he has spent money he didn't need to on mainly dross. Had he not done so, maybe he would be in a position where a £2-3m sale would get us out of the embargo now.
