Baz Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Cole would not come north for ten grand a week. Also, allegedly, he has an ankle issue which prevents him playing more than one match a week. Thats ok, our lads only play every 3-4 weeks. If he can't make it oop north, I can probably do as much as Brown for £5k a week?
Neal Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Lawrence is a good player. Do have a strong suspicion that he's a replacement for Marsh.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Lawrence is a good player. Do have a strong suspicion that he's a replacement for Marsh. To be fair if lawrence arrives on a loan with a view to signing and offloading marshall gets us out of the embargo - then it is great business.

Not sure I'd be comfortable with him replacing Marsh straight away. Would like to see how he shapes up first.
Gav Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 To be fair if lawrence arrives on a loan with a view to signing and offloading marshall gets us out of the embargo - then it is great business. Marshall has quality, he's hamstrung by the manager playing him out of position, we shouldn't be selling our best players to get out of an embargo because the days of us paying decent transfers have gone, so in or out of embargo doesn't matter at this stage in my opinion.

We know Marshall has talent. He was reasonably rated when we bought him but injury prone. In patches he has looked superb but he doesn't consistently deliver. The key here is replacing. If we sell and replace with another promising youngster, for a reasonable fee, then I am happy- it is what we have pretty much done throughout my time following Rovers (apart from 90-96. Selling Marshall and replacing with a Brown or Macanuff and I would agree totally - we should not sell.
yoda's brother Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 comment from GB in the LT lawrence article The window is going to be closing soon and then we’ve got the international break, which would help us if we got somebody in as it would allow us to put them into the system we want to work on and play. didnt think he had a system, unless its the play for a draw one.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Lawrence played behind the front man at Rotherham so I'd imagine that's where GB fancies him. I'm all for it if this pushes Marsh out wide but you get the feeling that the reasoning behind it may be offload him in the hope of getting out of FFP.
Rover_Shaun Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Hole? Modern game bullshit. Put the ball in their net. End of
Iceman Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 why sell our better players to get out of FFP, only to still not spend money when we are out of FFP? We aint going to splash more than a mill on a player if we are out of FFP, so i dont see the rush to push sales to get out of FFP

What bugs me a little - is that Bowyer keeps moaning how young our squad/team is - and then brings in yet another young player.
joey_big_nose Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 How long is the loan? Really feel we have enough attacking mids/wingers as it is. We don't have enough centre backs and if Guthrie gets injured I worry for central midfield...
J*B Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Raya Henley Duffy Kilgallon Olsson Guthrie Akpan Barrow Lawrence Conway Rhodes But will we play it..?

That would make a nice change, may not go down well with the inmates though. Same time last year just a few weeks into the season he gave those not involved in internationals time off. How will they cope

Iceman Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 loan until January 3rd... i dont get these tyoe of loans, because if its not until the end of the season, then it just doesnt make sense to me
chaddyrovers Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Maybe Leicester and Swansea want to make their players are playing. If they not then why send them on loan to us

A cup of beans Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Lawrence loan has excited me. Been impressed when I've seen him playing for Utd 21's. Seen him play on the left, in the hole (watch out Ben Marshall ) and up front. He also stood out in the Yeovil against us at Ewood the other year. Id say he was an improvement on what we have, but time will tell. Meantime, I'll savour the excitement.
