tonygreenbank Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 My first game of the season tonight and I actually didn't think it was as bad as some on here. There were moments of quality in the first half when Rhodes had 2 good headed chances and the second half reminded me of an awful lot of Rovers games in the past when attacking the Blackburn End. I thought the defence was good and our attack with Rhodes in can get the points we need. The problem is midfield with little creativity but I would like to see Akpan and Peschi in there when fit and they might provide much needed craft and guile. There was plenty of endeavour from every player which is good to see but that team tonight won't get us promoted. As for Bowyer I leave it to his employers to decide if he is the one to take us forward; the embargo does make it difficult but he has brought in 7 new players and I'm sure they must expect a return on their faith in the manager. This game and the Fulham one are televised so the owners will be able to see the standard of play. Having seen the game I can't agree with some of the more extreme negative comments that regularly appear on here but we all want the Rovers to be successful so I know passions run high.

No disrespect but if Venkys ever posted something on BRFCS then that's exactly how I'd expect it to read. From my seat it appeared that Marshall completely blanked Boreyer when he was taken off. Can anybody who sits close by or was watching on TV confirm this? I can confirm. Was sit spitting distance from Degsy Shaw in JW upper... As Marsh walked off Bowyer went to gesture to him and Marsh snubbed him, it was that obvious I turned to my mate and who was looking directly at it at the time and said "snubbed him there" and he nodded in agreement.
savage90 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 It's ridiculous if Bowyer doesn't go. Forget this season. He had to go last year.
TBTF Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I thought Barrow coming on should have happened around the 60th minute. Koita played well when he came on. Kota is a big lump with the touch of a sperm whale Chaddy and if he is the Gestede replacement then start plotting your route to Walsall next season. I simply do not know where enough goals will come from to win us enough games. We are devoid of creativity and are quickly becoming more long ball merchants than we ever were under big Sam. I wouldn't say we were sh1te tonight by any means but there is a serious lack of quality in that squad . And of all the players signed this Summer , just Delf starts??? And people ramble on about GB having an eye for a player- goodness me.

Doug Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 IMO we played well, should have won by 2 or 3 goals. My Bolton mates thought we were very dirty!! The stand out performances for me were - Raya - solid and very confident. Henley - good game, looks much more solid. Hanley - great performance, has an annoying habit of punting the ball anywhere. Rhodes - worked very hard, could have had a few goals. Koita - he could become our 1st choice CF if he keeps it up. Negatives- Spurr - we need a new LB! Marshall - Is he interested? Overall, I was quite pleased with our performance, we attacked, tackled hard and pressured them when they had possession. On another day we'd have won 3-0 and we'd all be happy. Had a few arguments with notlobs when I got back to my local - COYB!
frosty Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Bowyer, get: - Olsson in for Spurr - Guthrie in for Evans (I'd say Lowe but he won't drop Lowe) - Barrow in for Marshall - Koita in for Delfouneso And that'd be a start at least.
john browning Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 A rare game televised in Australia. Neil Danns and Liam Feeney were welcomed back to Ewood and showed some endeavour. It was a disappointing contest between two teams that were more afraid to lose than prepared to go out and win the game. Both lacked any kind of a cutting edge. Several observations: · Hanley yet again showed unsuitability for captaincy by a stupid and reckless foul that could easily have led to him being sent off · Duffy (probably the preferred captain) let Jason Lowe know in clear terms that he should be pushing up and getting out from under the feet of the centre backs · Koita showed signs of being a cut above the rest on show · Marshall is a menace when defending in the penalty area · Wingers who always cross from around the front of the penalty area and cannot get to the byline are not contributing much to the attack, neither is a whole series of predictable long throw ins from the same general area.
Waggy76 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Absolute rubbish, not sure what else to say really. Someone said the second half was the best he's seen this season, if that's true we really are in the sh1t people. Time to get Venkys out? Or at least try to get them out? Venkys out is the only answer if it means Conference football , so be it !
dingles staying down 4ever Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 It is simple. It does not matter who plays alongside Lowe in midfield. The fact remains if Lowe plays our midfield two becomes a midfield one. I cannot recall one thing that Lowe did. Marshall needs dropping, he looks like a player who does not want to be here. People who are saying Koite looks a player should really be hanging their heads in shame. The lad second touch is usually a tackle. If he's lucky he is strong enough to avoid losing the ball. Delfounso too greedy. Hanley's booking was a strange one as he shouted to Duffy to leave the player as Duffy was about to bring him down. Plus I was a few minutes late last night and Williamson left not looking too happy. If I was him I'd be grateful that I didn't have to watch the game.
1864roverite Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 in just a few short words ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE No midfield drive is the problem. What Bowyer sees in Lowe is an enigma
Mike Graham Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 A welcome point against a decent Bolton side. A clean sheet and two games unbeaten at home. The Club however must be worried by the gate. Good turn out from Bolton fans but I am told the home fans turn out was again <10,000 for the 2nd game on the trot. Onwards and upwards.

chaddyrovers Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Serious question, how do you think we should have won by 2 or 3 goals when we had 1 decent shot on target all game? Rhodes had 2 good chances, I thought he would have scored 1 of them. Spurr header. But I do wish we would shoot from outside the box alot
cesus Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 If anybody didn't think this season was going to be a battle then last night should really hit home that we are going to be well and truly part of one. We look like a rugby union team playing for yards and see a throw in near to the corner flag as a major positive, Hanley, Duffy and Spurr must run 15 miles a game to take part in all these fruitless long throws. For me Spurr is only part of this side due to his long throws, that is frightening that at this level our manager thinks it's a good idea to play somebody to throw the ball in, Free kick wise he is simply the same quality or lower than Conway. I feel sorry for us that we are praying Koita is going to be the answer, he may well turn out to be a gem but already so early in the season it looks like we could be in trouble if he doesn't turn out to be a gem. Hanley and Duffy looked stronger as a partnership than they have all season but that would have been all for nothing had Heskey rocketed in Raya's rather suspect blocking of the cross straight to his feet. Chances wise I don't really think we created many at all for all the kitchen sink long balls etc, headers going high and wide maybe could have been closer and their keeper makes a good save from Spurr which Koita must hit the target if not score with the rebound. Taking into account how woeful Bolton actually were (slightly more woeful than us just) we have to create far more! Oh yes Jason Lowe is a horrific footballer
Mike Graham Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Completely agree with what you say about Spurr, he is a one trick pony of limited skills. As for Koita if he is the answer we really do have problems. I am sure he has two left feet. I must say however that Hanley has had a reasonable start to the season, but he does need to deal with his "red mist" moments. My man of the season so far would be Conway. As for Lowey words fail me.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Worst Rovers side in decade's,the football is awful. What did some of you expect this season with the club in utter limbo?
USABlue Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 What has Lowe got on Bowyer?Pictures of him shaggin Desai. That was painful to watch. He has to go. Lowe and Evanz, what must Guthrie be thinking.
Ricky Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Rhodes had 2 good chances, I thought he would have scored 1 of them. Spurr header. But I do wish we would shoot from outside the box alot Come on Chaddy, play fair! You can't agree that by having 3 half chances we deserved to win by 2 or 3 goals. The Rhodes ones were half chances at best. If the ref had given the deserved penno we would have lost the game. We didn't deserve to win it that's for sure
Backroom DE. Posted August 29, 2015 Backroom Posted August 29, 2015 Come on Chaddy, play fair! You can't agree that by having 3 half chances we deserved to win by 2 or 3 goals. The Rhodes ones were half chances at best. If the ref had given the deserved penno we would have lost the game. We didn't deserve to win it that's for sure Exactly. We can't say we deserved to win because our half chances should have gone in and theirs shouldn't I'd say we were marginally better overall, but it was marginal. The game was a showcase for two very poor teams that will be fighting at the wrong end of the table this season.
LewisF Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Jason Lowe is absolutely awful. Stealing a living. Spurr long throw - how many times have we scored off one? Man of the match: Shane Duffy - for one block? Other than that he was @#/? in my opinion. Rhodes and Delfounso (who is too greedy) didn't really do much, as neither did the wingers. Awful match. 5 league matches already and still no wins
Tango Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Bolton came with a game plan by doubling up on both our wingers. It nullified our attacking threat as we had two sitting midfielders, so there was nothing coming through the middle. This was obvious after 5 minutes and Bowyer never reacted in 90. Personally I don't think anybody played particularly badly, Evans needlessly gave the ball away a few times and Conway was pretty anonymous, but ultimately they were all hamstrung by the manager's inability to adjust tactically to Bolton. Feels like time for a change.
