[Archived] Bowyer Most Likely Not Sacked

Recommended Posts

A long post but the gist of it is-----you've abandoned him-----again!

You are now seeing what most of us saw months ago(if not earlier!)

At no point have I said he should be sack.

The owners need to make a DECISION on his future this week.

We DONT need any uncertain this season.

They could have a statement in the summer saying that the full behind Bowyer as manager. They didnt

We have fixtures coming up in September and October which on current results and form of the participants could see us entrenched in the bottom 6.

We most certainly need a win v Bolton and then after the international break v Fulham. It is then we enter a most difficult 8 game run that will make or break us and setup our season.

Sack Bowyer now and appoint a caretaker v Bolton and take what comes out of that game. Use the international gap to appoint an experienced manager and motivator. I will let others with more knowledge suggest who.

I fear that if we stick with Bowyer we may well be as good as relegated well before Christmas.

I also fear that what will actually happen is that the Punites will stick with Bowyer, we will beat Bolton (and I want us to win as all Rovers fans really do), Bowyer will stay and that all will end very badly.

Sorry but that is a proper and very common cop out on here. Sacking is easy, replacing with better is the difficult bit.

You said he should be either sacked or given the entire season so that speculation doesn't affect him. I've defended you plenty chaddy but not this time. That is just ludicrous.

Not necessarily, when the current managers as guff as bowyer then its really not that difficult, most of the potential managers being mentioned could more than likely do a better job if they have the full backing of the board and fans(which is something that berg and Appleton never had)

Disclaimer.

Or it wouldn't be at any normal club, but with the venkys in charge...

So nobody is rushing to say they are confident we won't lose to the dingles this season and nobody is saying GB is capable of whipping up a true grit backs to the wall winning performance from the team and fans if/when we are facing the drop to League 1.

I have zero faith in Shaw and Venky's abilities to make appointments but with the alternative being GB, I fear we have almost nothing to lose by letting them have a go at picking his successor.

Thats the problem the Bowyer detractors can't grasp though. With two finishes in the top third with a fairly ordinary squad he's quite obviously not that 'guff'. I do agree though that I don't believe that he has a promotion to the Prem in him for a number of reasons.

You reap what you sow - with Bowyer there is more chance of being relegated that finishing in the top half. imho

Really? You may well be right but the truth is that if you were a betting man you'd have lost money these past two seasons.

I've never thought he was bad as what everyone makes out, his biggest detractors on here don't even go to games might I add

But this question is a valid one:

Can Bowyer get this side promoted?

in my opinion absolutely no chance, the squads not good enough and the manager isn't good enough either, so where does that leave us?

In the hands of Shaw and Venkys and I have zero confidence in them bringing in better than Bowyer, they're just not capable, so it looks like Bowyer for the foreseeable future, get used to it.

September and Octobers fixtures are unbelievably tough. Hard to see us getting many points under the current management.

I cant remember us having a relentless run of fixtures like this (in this league, in all its various guises).

you say ordinary squad, but i think that's only because bowyers poor tactics, laxy daisy attitude and poor motivational abilities make them look ordinary, I'm sure most clubs/managers in this league would love to have had the squad that we had last year(and for the most part the squad we have this year) as I and many others have said in the past, you only have to look at a lot of the teams that have been promoted into the prem in the last 5-10 years, most of them had poor looking squads on paper(with just the odd couple of quality players) but they had managers at the helm that squeezed every ounce out of the players at their disposal and got them promoted through shear determination and having a strong belief in themselves and their manager.

As for the consecutive top 3rd finishes, i think its fair to say that's solely down to the goals of Rhodes and Gestede and those to would score for fun at most clubs outside of the prem regardless of the quality of their team mates and manager. You only have to look at how toothless we've been playing so far this season without those two.

We need to vent out anger towards all parties then. Venky's, Shaw, Bowyer.

Bowyer cant be excused, on any account.

What has Bowyer done wrong? he's been promoted beyond his ability and is trying his best in difficult circumstances.

People seem to forget he's working for bonkers owners, only has Shaw to deal with on a day to day basis, imagine that!

I'd replace the guy tomorrow if we could guarantee a decent appointment, but he's not the devil, he's trying his best and thats all you can ask for.

No comments from Gary Bowyer on the site since the game on Saturday, nothing today or yesterday.

Yet the club claimed on Saturday night that the rumours were 'without foundation'

There's something wrong. Bowyer might not have been sacked but there's clearly something amiss. No smoke without fire, and the absence of comments from Bowyer suggests all is not well.

We are tallking about the most cautious man in Britain.

Can hardly see him wanting to be in the spotlight facing question after question about his job.

He will surface at some point ...

He's done many things wrong.

GB's obvious failings as a manager are well documented.

And those two and possibly King are the ONLY players who would have even got near to Souness's bench last time we were promoted. And they would all be scrapping for Marcus Bent's place in the team That should be factored in.
