[Archived] Bowyer Most Likely Not Sacked

Recommended Posts

I've said it all along that this season his demeanour strikes me as one of @#/? it whatever will be will be and i'll just plod on. Not sure if he's that bothered either way. He still picks the wrong team as far as I'm concerned but the players are still playing for him.

Don't know about that Tomphil... 11 men going out on the field and playing football poorly doesn't suggest they're playing for the manager to me. What we do know that Marsh and Rhodes CERTAINLY aren't playing for the manager.

Yeah I probably should have said 'some of the players appear' to be playing for him. At least they got stuck last night in the last half hour. Probably more down to the crowd than anything else. Before that notloB were winning every bloody tackle and second ball.

Stuff like this and 'working hard' should be the minimum expectation of any professional footballer IMO. We don't need a manager that motivates them to work hard and get stuck in but a manager who can organise us, have authority, know his best 11, pick players based on form and have a difinitive style of play you can identify with... Not too much to ask is it?

He needs to be gone soon, it's sickening that he doesn't even seem to be under pressure.

Feel we are heading for a lesser Kean situation where we continue to regress with no danger of the manager changing and him getting more and more self assured.

What's the betting he makes sure he flies out to Pune next week?

5 games, 3 goals, 3 points, an embarrassing cup exit.

The stats don't lie. Time to go Gaz.

-2 goal difference a well. Not good at all.

As Tomphill says the players are still seemingly trying for him, but is that suprising 3 weeks or so into the season after a lengthy break? In addition they may be trying but we can see the lack of belief and confidence in our approach and what we try and do. I muted pre-season that team spirit and lasting belief in the project would be damaged with Gestede, Rhodes and Cairney all looking to leave and that may be apparent looking at results this time round.

Anyone suggest a fixture we will win? How long do we plod on NOT sacking Bowyer and what is the benefit in so doing? Try selling players on who have just been relegated. They won't command much if anything and 3000% profit will seem a long time ago.

It takes some courage to make the big decisions. The Venkys never get it right. There are better teams ahead and we are stuggling against all we play and have a number of very tough looking local derbies to navigate. Results from which I believe to be key.

Makes me wonder if Myers and Shaw are picking the team or having a say because his hands in pocket , not arsed body language says that may be so .

I am not fooled by his demeanour, particularly last night. I think he is under a lot of pressure and is trying (poorly in my opinion) to disguise it. In my opinion it is bravado just as it was when Kean was trying to put on a brave face.

If we are in the bottom three for any length pal it won't be a lesser kean thing it will get to the same level . It's simmering now. The amount of disappointed fans he hadn't gone last week was quite telling . Cue cgaddy to say he heard none .

Only the most foolhardy of fans would still believe that this team is going anywhere under Bowyer. Interesting that there was so much confidence in his abilities pre-season, but that has died down somewhat in the face of the predicted poor results since the season began. Stand still - go backwards. Last season represented a very good chance for the club and Bowyer in particular and we failed spectacularly.

They must be a daft as him then considering some of the selections. Sign a shed load of midfielders then play the two most useless ones. Sign a pot load who can play in the hole but don't play them there. Whoever's picking it isn't a football manager that's for sure. I still think agents have a big say in this club and influence selections.

Well they should have been stuck in from the off like they were in the last half hour that's for sure. As Dunny put on twitter before the game 'play on the front foot Rovers, make it a derby'...sadly it seems under Bowyer it is too much to ask for because he cannot get away from sitting back.

Christ at this rate Roy Keane is looking like a good option to me and I hate the guy.

Can just imagine a face to face between Keane and golden child Lowe , "So you think you are a midfielder hard man do you sonny"

If Huddersfield pick up at least a point at home to qpr, by my reckoning we will then go back into the bottom 3. This is because Rotherham play Fulham, and I reckon whatever the outcome it will result in one of those teams going above us.

It sounds bad but I really hope this happens and we go into the international break in the relegation places. Now that Venkys understand the concept of relegation, wishful thinking but let's hope it causes them to act and get rid of bowyer!

 there'd be some interesting 5 a sides in training if he's one of those managers who still joins in.

I posed the question after the Wolves game "Who are we going to be good enough to beat this season under this manager"

Not Wolves, Shrewsbury, Huddersfield, Cardiff Brighton or Bolton. I honestly think we'll still be waiting by Christmas if he stays in charge.

Oddly despite no win in 6 and not being in front for a single minute in that time GB seemed to be laughing and joking at the final whistle. He also seemed completely unconcerned when interviewed briefly after on TV. Doesn't come across as a man under any pressure whatsoever unless he is angling to get himself removed and earn a pay off.

Looked like forced or false laughs to me. He looked a beaten man iut there last night. I have not seen such lost facial expressions on a football sideline si ce Wally with the brolly. Step aside Gary.

Haha! Would certainly bring discipline. Mark Warburton was absolutely perfect for us, calm under pressure, intelligent, plays attractive football, knows how to develop players... That was our chance at appointing the right man, the rest are just alternatives to Bowyer but IMO Warburton was perfect, and free.

Seriously missed out there. Gutted.

Just read the report of the game in the Guardian, they reckon the owners are drawing up a list of potential replacements.

Bowyer under pressure after poor performance, players left the field to a crescendo of boos, amongst other comments.

Hardly a crescendo. However it's only the under 40's who have been spoiled rotten by the Walker years.

Gary bowyer won't go because he doesn't give a stuff about the club, in it for himself, said this from the beginning.

Quite right...... and there are 91 others in the Football League too.

A friend of mine having a post match drink at the ground last night was told Bowyer had to win last night's match to have any chance of still being in charge post the international break. If correct then he's surely heading for the exit door.

Not like you to make unfounded speculation sound like the gospel mercerman. Anyway who told him? The barmaid?

Not that it really matters, as I couldn't hear the origin of the song or whatever, but I could clearly hear 'uncle jack's barmy army' from the Riverside and definitely not Gary Bowyer.

Imagine if Bowyer did actually have an army, if they were in his image it's probably safe to say they wouldn't be barmy!!

Hardly Gordon, even the over forty's can remember maximum effort even though the quality was not there for a long time,

different ball game now,

Every game is like a training session, not surprising with a coach in charge and interference from Shaw Shaw, sicknote and the bean counter

The main thing that strikes me about people like Warburton, Howe etc is that they have a style of football for their teams. I reckon a lot of the stuff at Ewood is tailored to coach players individually to try and improve them but not as a team unit. Just obsessed with increasing individuals value first and foremost.
