[Archived] New Manager?

We may as well stick with Bowyer tomphil, Short has less experience than Bowyer, the defense is rubbish on his watch also, but he'd be cheap and willing and we know thats the Venky way, in other words we're fooked.

Short wouldn't be my choice, but I'd prefer him to GB.

As a player, Short has shown me:professionalism,

determination, pride, courage and leadership.

If he brought just a couple of those qualities, we'd improve.

What characteristics has GB shown you?

I like Ainsworth alot and he is a Blackburn lad/fan who has managing Wycombe and done very well there considering the financial problems.

Being a Blackburn lad/fan should count for nothing. Never mind galvanising the supporters. The best thing to help win over supporters is to show some ambition by appointing a proven winner who has experience of working at a club of this size.

Why should being from Blackburn put Ainsworth ahead of numerous better qualified managers who are available for free?

Look how going down the experienced route has worked for Ipswich and Brighton. Notice how few managers other than Rowett have made the jump up from League Two to the Championship and have been successful.

I just don't get why when there are people like Lambert, Davies, Poyet and Pearson unemployed, with a point to prove and at least one would jump at the chance to work here that some would prefer another huge and unnecessary gamble on a fourth division manager whose only experience has been at Wycombe Wanderers.

Short has been in the camp for a while now, the defense is quite frankly rubbish, what the hell is he doing?

Appointing a manager with less experience than Bowyer is pointless, have you learnt nothing beans?

Short hasn't recruited our defenders.

But they have improved according to many.

Does he get credit for that?

I'm more interested in the attributes he has.

1 attribute he has, less experience in management than Gary Bowyer, thats not where we want to be, simple as that.

Bowyers going nowhere in my opinion, they don't sack people until its to late, especially a manager thats just brought in 10m from player sales.

Maybe a year or so ago we might've been an inviting proposition for the Pearsons & Lamberts of this world, but not anymore.

How do we know that?

Pearson and Lambert can forget about the Premier League. So a club with the size and infrastructure of Rovers could well be the best chance they get.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll relish the prospect of answering to Degsy and having their hands tied by FFP.

But we know that the manager doesn't answer to Shaw. Infact the only person who the manager has to answer to is Desai every now and then but spends most of the time doing things on his own terms.

Telling ourselves that we can't attract a Lambert or Pearson will probably ensure that we can't, but I believe that both of those would be very interested in a club like this.

FFP is supposedly a temporary issue which should last until next summer at the most, so I can't see that being a determining factor.

But let's roll the dice on an Ainsworth or Hill and be grateful as League One and Two managers are the best we can do.

Meanwhile Bolton get Lennon, Brighton get Hughton and Ipswich get McCarthy.

I just think Ainsworth could turn Rovers around like Rowett did at Birmingham. he might not. I just hope he apply for it if there vacancy.

Gary Monk was a rookie when he took over at Swansea but look at the great job he is doing there

I would like Pearson but would he consider us after the great job he did at Leicester last season in the PL. just not sure he would consider us tbh.

Lambert would be good. Karl Robinson or Oscar Garcia should be consider

no to Billy Davies or Gus Poyet for me.

but lets not forget at the minute there is no vacancy available

Nothing that's said on here has any bearing on Venky's recruitment process. I thought the last five years of hiring one schmuck after another would've been proof of that.

Just because we have a decent stadium and facilities doesn't mean we're going to be a draw for the likes of Pearson & Lambert. We're a small town club on the slide and hogtied by FFP for the foreseeable future. I'm not saying it's impossible for us to attract a 'big-name' manager (by current standards) but it would take all of the stars aligning for us to pull it off.

I think a completely unbiased manager from abroad could be best, i think most british based managers will have seen all thats been written and gossiped about us and our club in recent years and will likely just see our club as a short term cash cow for themselves. Bit risky but if we cant get an experianced british manager to come here(for the right reasons) then i fancy ole solksjaer, i think he's somebody that players and fans would both take to quickly(as long as we're performing better than we are under bowyer)

The 'small town club' stuff is nonsense.

Other than 5-6 city clubs everyone else in this league are 'small town club's. That didnt stop Ipswich getting Mccarthy despite zero money or Bolton getting Lennon with a rumoured wage ceiling of 4k a week.

Our turnover and gates are competitive at this level. Stadium and infrastructure is important because a manager would look at us and see the ingredients there to build up and work in Premier League standard surroundings.

Good managers would look at us as a big club and an opportunity. The question is less whether they would be interested and more about whether Venky's would be interested.

a lot better options

true, just saying he wouldnt be to far down my list if the better options where not interesed and ruled out.

Lambert is currently my number 1 choice, if im being honest i dont know enough about the managers being talked about from the lower leagues, ive always liked keith hill(but i cant see him getting much love on here)
