[Archived] New Manager?

At the moment we're stuck in the worst position a club can be in. Confused and speculative state where nobody knows which way things are going. That is a disastrous state for the club to exist in and can often see a club underachieve when the headlines are all about the managerial situation. It needs to be resolved one way or another in the coming couple of days. We can't have a fortnight of speculation ahead of another massive game at Fulham.

Now at this moment in time I'm at the ambivalent stage towards Bowyer. If the owners decided that it was time for change then I could understand the thinking and would accept that recent results haven't been good enough.

At the same time if the owners decided that Bowyer was getting more time then I would also understand that decision.

If the owners have doubts about Bowyer's suitability for the job then they need to make a change. Not because I personally want Bowyer out, but because if they are themselves questioning his position then the club cannot succeed if the owners are not 100% behind their manager. This applies whoever the manager is and whatever the situation is. The owners and manager need to be singing from the same hymn sheet, otherwise whether you are Mourinho or Bowyer, the club will suffer.

If the owners have even the slightest thought of changing manager then it needs to be done now. We have 2 weeks in which to appoint a new man and give him time on the training ground to prepare for the next set of fixtures.

If they don't plan on making a change, at least not for the foreseeable future, then they need to have somebody release some sort of statement reflecting that.

It's funny that only a few years ago the most mocked and ridiculed manager around was probably Alan Pardew. It was a huge shock when he got the Newcastle job as his stock has dropped so far. Now he's flying and one of the top English managers again.

Nobody would have been suggesting him as an option before he had the Newcastle job.

I think I read somewhere that he really made use of the time he was out of the game to re-learn and develop new ideas/tactics and fair play to him it has worked.

A manager that I think could potentially do something similar to a 'Pardew renaissance' is Curbishley. I have long been an advocate of Curbishley on this forum, I have posted during several of the managerial gaps we have had that Curbishley could be an option to look at in my opinion. Someone who has been there and done it and is looking to rebuild his career.

Alan Nixon has said to me this morning that "there is one guy who is getting alot of mentions"

who this person is I don't know but they was supposedly to be a story in today Sun paper but wasn't in

Heard a whisper that they might have or are about to approach Pearson. It's second hand but has come from someone who isn't a Rovers fan but is confident enough to plonk some cash on it. Just a whisper that's come to me by text so no idea but you never know. We live in hope although I have reservations that he'd fit in at Rovers. What's a great fit for one club isn't always a great fit for another.

Thanks for sharing this info

You are suggesting the club comes out and gives Gaz the vote of confidence.

We all know that will not clear anything up but fuel more speculation.

It means they are thinking of sacking him but not just yet....

Very doubtful any statements will be made.

With all this speculation and with Shaw's track record at PNE you have to wonder if enquiries are being made. The disconnect may be between Ewood and Pune, and whatever Shaw has lined up may be vetoed. Just look at the Rhodes situation. Mind you, they sanctioned the sales of Cairney and Gestede so who knows.

Maybe they were advised in the Summer to make a change and wanted to give him a chance to prove them wrong. I'm not sure that he has done that.

Great shout, when I looked at his managerial record once it was way way better than I ever imagined.

The only question would be whether he really has been undergoing Pardew/Mark Warburton type expansion of his ideas whilst out of the game or whether he is content on the Sky couch doing a bit of punditry and has lost the burning desire to get back into and succeed at management. I think the suggestion has also been made in the past he won't venture north of the M25 as well.
