oldjamfan1 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 The law of averages dictates that we will enjoy a huge slice of luck in this game tonight, perhaps a dodgy refereeing decision or a fluke goal. But I still can't see us getting anything, especially after QPR lost at home on Saturday.

Mike Graham Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Darn it. In my sickbed (been there 3 days) so can't make this one tonight. :-(( Come on Rovers. Give us something to cheer us up.
arbitro Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Setting off shortly with pretty low optimism of getting anything. It is always interesting just less than an hour before kick off to see whose names have come out of the tombola first. A few years ago we got a hard earned 0-0 there when Eastwood made his first appearance and played a blinder. It was one of the few occasions that Bowyer got his tactics right. We were solid defensively and a threat on the counter. I seem to remember Chris Taylor playing a big part by snuffing out Joey Barton whilst getting forward when we were in possession. I really hope Bowyer has some kind of plan tonight or I fear a drubbing.

Can't see it sadly. QPR will be well up for this and expecting to win. They'll come at us fast and hard and I'm very confident they will score at least one.

We've only done it about 3 or 4 times since. Time for a repeat tonight !

It'll most likely involve leaning on a dugout with his hands in his pockets ( in his coat if its cold or raining, or a jacket if its quite mild ) - otherwise he'll just be relying on 'lady luck'

Agree with Reidy that Marshall has been poor this season, although against Fulham there were glimpses of his good form. Tonight I would go with: Steele Lowe Killy Duffy Ollson Marshall Akpan Guthrie Conway Rhodes Koita

Tonight I would go with: Steele Lowe Killy Duffy Ollson Marshall Akpan Guthrie Conway Rhodes Koita I'd agree with that team bar Duffy. Hanley is better IMO. Duffy was at fault more than anyone with that first goal as he was easily dragged out of defence and left us wide open. He did it a few times. I haven't really rated this guy since he joined Also Lowe is injured
chor808 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Going to this one tonight, treating it as a night out but really pricey at 32 on the door. Expecting nothing to be honest.
Bundesburn Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I'm off to this tonight. Dreary weather aside, I'm looking forward to it. Hoping for Rhodes to make up for his first few games and to see Mahoney make some sort of appearance. If you're short of places to drink in the vicinity, BrewDog have a pub on Shepherd's Bush Green and there's also the Defector's Weld on - I think - Uxbridge Rd, as it hits the green. One of my favourite pubs in West London.
Butty Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Full credit to anyone making the long trip down south tonight, I'm not optimistic for tonight at all but QPR have only won one of their last 13 league meetings against us! Bogey team? I think Phillips and Austin could cause us some real problems though but saying that they have conceded 6 goals in there 3 league games at home this season so far with Rotherham even sticking two past them albeit in a 4-2 defeat there so QPRs defence certainly isn't solid. If we play like we did in the second half at Fulham we can definitely get something from the game but if we start like we did against Fulham we could be 3-0 down in no time. Huge game tonight for us and if we lose I can't see any sane thinking Rovers supporter not wanting Bowyer to go, I'm going to go with a score draw tonight, 1-1 with Conway bagging for us.
only2garners Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I'm off to this tonight. Dreary weather aside, You should be up here on the Lancashire Riviera - it's been lovely today.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Rovers win 3-2 tonight, everything is rosy at Rovers after the first win. Then we lose the next 5. Seriously we are going to win a game at some point, right?
Backroom DE. Posted September 16, 2015 Backroom Posted September 16, 2015 Not if we keep conceding goals at the rate of 2 a game. At that point we're basically expecting a hat trick out of Rhodes in every match, as none of our other players contribute to the Goals For column, except Hanley every so often from a header.
AllRoverAsia Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I've just succumbed to the blues and re-subscribed to Rovers Player which I had let lapse at the end of last season. It looks all new and indeed I had to create a new Login. I hope it's still possible to listen to the opponents comentary if you want to. Anyway another late night beckons. COYB

COYB Don't think there is, I couldn't find it anyway, been logging into opponents site instead , then logging back to the comedy section after the game on RR
chaddyrovers Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 ROVERS: Steele, Henley, Duffy, Hanley ©, Spurr, Marshall, Guthrie, Evans, Conway, Koita, Rhodes. Subs: Raya (GK), Kilgallon, Delfouneso, Olsson, Lawrence, O'Sullivan, Akpan. Only 1 change.
AllRoverAsia Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Don't think there is, I couldn't find it anyway, been logging into opponents site instead , then logging back to the comedy section after the game on RR The lay out looks totally different. I liked the way that you could follow all the other scores on the match consol, I suppose that's gone too. It's all run by the FL by the look of it, cheap barstewards. The video player if better though so that's a big plus. Just logged into the QPR player so on both at same time which is good. QPR have a general news prog on - Rovers are on air but silent.
G Somerset Rover Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Glad that Koita is in but I'd be quite happy never to see Spurr in a Rovers shirt again. Marcus should, quite rightly, be peeved off.
Kie_BRFC Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Spurr does not deserve to be starting after his performance on Sunday, poor player
Backroom DE. Posted September 16, 2015 Backroom Posted September 16, 2015 Bowyer must really, really love that long throw. What a dunce. Good to see Koita in the team though. Can't score for toffee but puts himself about and may give Rhodes more space to operate.

joey_big_nose Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 ROVERS: Steele, Henley, Duffy, Hanley ©, Spurr, Marshall, Guthrie, Evans, Conway, Koita, Rhodes. Subs: Raya (GK), Kilgallon, Delfouneso, Olsson, Lawrence, O'Sullivan, Akpan. Only 1 change. The chadster nails it again.I guess the thinking is put out the same team as Fulham second half and say "play like that again". So I think we will be throwing the kitchen sink at them from the off. Should be entertaining. Wonder how Guthrie and Evans will cope. Neither of them are that fit. If QPR have watched any videos from Sunday they will target Spurr with pace.

Can't score for toffee but puts himself about and may give Rhodes more space to operate. He is going to be another Kalanic, woodwork hitting specialist. It's a fine line and I hope he gets off the mark, he deserves a goal.
Mercer Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Good to see Koita start. Let's be positive and take the game to QPR from the start. Feeling good about this one and going for a 'Loweless' 3-1 win to Rovers.
