Rover_Shaun Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Bit of maths, whats 1% of 20000? I think you're memory is playing tricks on you Shaun, half way through the second half the ground was united in its condemnation of Venkys and ****. It sounded like that Gav but I can assure you in E02 there weren't many out of the trenches with me

Mercer Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Bunkum! The fans on a match day are the true test, against Wigan when we went down, the stadium was united in its anti Venky/anti **** feeling, thats a true test, not on here. Labour leadership had around 420k voters out of 550k eligible voters, fantastic turn out and a landslide win, democracy at its best even if you don't agree with the outcome. 100k were Tories who'd paid their £3 to have a laugh and vote Corbyn. Best £3 I've spent for a while !
A cup of beans Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 68-2... so who are the 2 that voted against sacking him? It's very telling that the 2 who voted no have yet to give their feedback. Even those with a heavy heart have stood up for themselves and explained. I think you're memory is playing tricks on you Shaun, half way through the second half the ground was united in its condemnation of Venkys and ****. My ears were ringing from the Riverside.
Gav Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 total members 8864, work that out GAV I said this site is not representative of the fanbase Yoda, go back and read it again
Rover_Shaun Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Since we came back up in 1980 has another manager had us in the bottom 3 of the 2nd tier? Even in 85/86 and 90/91 we didn't drop that low

BySkillAndHardWork Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Well I say the site is representative of the fanbase Oh no it isn't. Oh yes it is! Panto season begins Voted sack, he's had plenty of time to sort matters out and yet he has not. Unfortunately it doesn't matter what we think the owners will just plod along racking up more debt and dithering in confusion. Such a pity that we the fans are now non-entities at Rovers, when before it felt like family.
Rover_Shaun Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I might be wrong, but i'm sure GB did. In his caretaker spell (after Sheffield Weds Away ???)I've said that before but it's probably a bit mean as we had appletons momentumI did a quick scan of the historic tables on the league history section of rovers mad......
A cup of beans Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I've said that before but it's probably a bit mean as we had appletons momentum probably is a bit mean, but I remember we monumentally cocked it up in that game.

yoda Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I said this site is not representative of the fanbase Yoda, go back and read it again I thought this is what you said "This site represents less than 1% of the fanbase, that needs pointing out because some think it speaks for the majority, it doesn't" So being kind I used the full 1% of 8864 MB members
A cup of beans Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I thought Don Mackay briefly did in the early 90s but I could be wrong He was sacked 3 games in, I don't think they used to publish tables until after 5 games or so. ????
Parsonblue Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Since we came back up in 1980 has another manager had us in the bottom 3 of the 2nd tier? Even in 85/86 and 90/91 we didn't drop that low Yes - Bob Saxton on more than one occasion. Remember that last day drama against Grimsby when we were in the relegation places and had to win on the Monday night or go down. The following season I think we were in the bottom three when we lost a vital six pointer to Huddersfield on Boxing Day, and I think Don Mackay had us briefly in the bottom three at one point but would need to check that one.
broadsword Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Start of the promotion season, Tony Dobson got sent off at Bristol City, I think we dropped into the bottom 3 then. We came close to relegation the season before.

We came close to relegation the season before. Think I was there, open terrace in the sun, start of the dream The season before Jack bumped Don a few quid for Dobson, Livingston and Mimms, kept us up.
tomphil Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 This season reminds me of the one when Jack took over. A few cast offs on loan, a few over promoted lads not good enough and a promising but raw centre defence. Of course it doesn't really compare to these days because we had nothing then and nothing to work with like Bowyer has. It took a few quid of Jacks money and some sensible robust and experienced signings to give us the platform to claw out of it. We can't do that this time so a roll of the managerial dice is the only real option.
Rover_Shaun Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Yes - Bob Saxton on more than one occasion. First one is a no. We were 4th bottomSecond one. What a memory. Yes we were bottom. Third one I assume you are talking about 91/92? Again a no. looks like I will have to re-phrase it to the first manager to take us into the bottom 3 of the second tier in 29 years. By the weekend could he be the 1st in 35 years to keep us in there longer than a week?
JAL Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Thirty six players signed no wins from the first Seven games with one at home to lowerleague opposition..... suggests that luck has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Hasta Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 This site represents less than 1% of the fanbase, that needs pointing out because some think it speaks for the majority, it doesn't. The vast majority of fans on a match day won't call for his head just yet, but its coming if he doesn't start winning soon, and I think thats right, he's trying his best but is out of his depth. I don't feel anger towards the man at all, I could have done time over king rat quite easily, big difference. Completely agree with everything, especially the last line. However I suspect it does some up the opinion of the majority on match day. I've nothing against Bowyer, quite liked him when he took over. I don't want to subject him to what could be called 'abuse' on a match day even though I have thought his time is up for 12 months. It should be up to the board / owners to realise this and make the decision before the crowd 'turns'.
mustard Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Whilst I understand there are plenty of fans who don't voice their concerns, I imagine the majority have realised Bowyer's time is up. Even those who show seemingly unwavering faith in him and urge fans to get behind him, chances are they know a change is needed, they just don't want to vocally admit it. This will be reflected in the votes. If we got a BRFCC member to stand at every turnstile vs Charlton and said 'do you think Bowyer should be sacked, yes or no?' and simply tallied the results, I have no doubt at least 80% of fans would suggest he goes. Possibly more. Those who don't want him sacked know the man isn't good enough, they're just scit-shared we're going to appoint someone worse! Also worth noting, the poll has been posted on LT comments section (not sure who by) and so I'd imagine a few dingles will sign up to vote in favour of keeping Bowyer in a job. I sincerely doubt anyone would be signing up to vote for him to be sacked unless they truly felt he should go.
OJRovers Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 If I were Venkys, having put £75million into the club over the last 3 years, and turned down £14million for Rhodes, i'd be getting a bit sick of Bowyer moaning about other clubs having money to spend. Yes, a lot of that went on paying off players, but we still have one of the highest wage bills (including Bowyer's pay packet), and spend a fortune on the academy, which other clubs don't have. Apart from the cup games last season, I really can't think of a convincing performance under Bowyer for the last 18 months.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 He has got to go. However i have no confidence whatsoever he will be potted, he's Steve Kean v2 'The Unsackable Manager'.
