One that is doubtful as we've seen many times in the past.

Two that is hardly a plus point. Every manager should at least have the players motivated. I've never had a job interview or performance review where giving it a right good go has been the barometer of success end of. It is absolutely barmy that Bowyer off the back of some (questionable imo) effort is able to be lauded as a good/decent manager and the right man for the job.

Also, on the rest of the post - why does Bowyer have to mention FFP at all? Even in saying not using it as an excuse he's putting it out there as a reason he's not doing well.

As for your question about similar squads with similar requirements I'd answer as follows: firstly because we are utterly in the financial do-do that we need promotion, secondly he has had a squad and backing the envy of many championship teams which he was unable to get promoted and is now being slowly dismantled (always ignored for some reason) and thirdly because the current lot are still with a bit of nous capable of a top half finish and a run at the playoffs. Expectations are being lowered at speed and don't seem like they're stopping yet. At this rate there will come a time when the current expectations/dumbing down become accurate assessments - only by then expectations will be even lower. And throughout all this there's no specific targets in place. Madness.

It's frustrating - not you - but the whole situation at Rovers with a chancer for a chairman and an inept skin-saving scout managing the team. And don't get me started at the owners...

I wonder if part of it is he's beginning to believe it. No pressure from above, so starts seeing any pressure as unreasonable. The real world really hasn't touched Ewood for some time.

He said something this morning on the Bee regarding the injury to conway, because of FFP we cant get replacements or something like that, it's just bs

It's not BS. Derby lose Hughes for the season they go out and buy Johnson. Some may see it as an excuse. He had a squad good enough? Maybe on paper or on financials, but I doubt even BS would've taken us up first season with the amount if hangers on left after the debacles previous.

Fact of the matter is that we are at a disadvantage compared to these teams that have the depth or ability to reinvest. It's not an excuse. Doesn't mean you aren't going to have a chance it's just less likely. Just like injuries stop cohesion and add to inconsistency- as Dyche about his first season in the champ.

I'm not arguing with anybody about what problems we face, I agree the expectations are not meeting the outcome and I'm terrifically bored of this being placed solely at the door of GB. The buck stops with the manager? But what if the person charged with fixing that issue is a complete charlatan? It's not an average situation.

I'm also quite weary of his comments being plastered all over this website with the same "I spat my tea out" reactions.

It makes me think that post Kean, the interviews are poisoned. No matter what he says it will be met with derision.

If your so sick of reading "excuses", don't bother reading. It is as simple as that.

Don't we simply judge everything as black and white here? ie Results = how good a manager is? If so, why are his pressers even worth quoting?

There are problems with the club, but the sooner people realise that it's a lot deeper than manager in/out, the sooner we can move on from the same repetitive discussion.

Im puzzled by your stance...on one hand you say you are judging him by results, but earlier in the thread you are listing excuses for the lack of results?

We are 20+ months on from the progression he brought by not being Kean, or Appleton. The chances of play-offs under GB is increasingly remote even for this season, we are looking down not up.

As for giving it a good go, well to be frank its slightly embarrassing if thats one of GBs assets.

1. Short memory problems for all those who think 11 players giving 110% every week is a given from every manager.

2. My stance can be what ever wants to be. It doesn't have to be black/white for in or out! I think we have some reasonable reasons for a lack of form this season but that doesn't mean I'm not judging the manager for not getting results. Don't assume either way!

To be fair, it isn't the ONLY barometer of success. Have you already forgotten the well publicised 3000% profit margin on Rudy Gestede?

Why is Rowett at Birmingham suddenly mentioned several times every day?

He hasn't even completed a full year there, never mind a full season, and last season we finished above them even though he joined in October and had no embargo.

It's become a default throwaway comment - look at Gary Rowett. Well I've had a look and I'd rather stick wth Gary Bowyer.

Your logic makes no sense!! It's pretty damning evidence that rowett has got brum from relegation certs to promotion hopefulls in less than a year when bowyer, who inherited a better squad than brums, is still trundling along with the odd good results here and there and your telling me you would rather stick with bowyer?? Get a grip son!!

Rowett is a one-off. He's done amazingly well at Birmingham since going there when you consider the state they were in under Clark and with their financial/ownership problems.

But it isn't right to just use that one example of huge success (so far) whilst ignoring the many other occasions where Championship clubs have taken such a gamble and have failed.

I'm struggling to think of another club or occasion where a Championship club has taken a gamble on a young League Two manager and it has paid off so much.

I think better comparisons to our own situation are those of Reading and Brighton. Both underachieved last season and spent the whole time in the bottom half fighting relegation. When things were going wrong they made bold and decisive decisions to change manager and note that they didn't scour League's One and Two for the next big thing or went through a list of their popular ex-players - they went out and got the tried and tested, experienced successful managers in Hughton and Clarke, and look how that is working out for them (so far). The same can be applied in previous years to Hull appointing Bruce and Ipswich appointing McCarthy who were both rubbished as candidates for the job here in 2012 and have both done well at their respective clubs.

I am concerned that once again all the talk in the media from Rovers appears to centre more on not wanting to lose the game than wanting to make up for last time and beat them. I'm not interested in the side show. We haven't beat them in 4 attempts and that has to change this season. I won't be celebrating a draw as a wonderful achievement if that's what happens, because we need the bragging rights back and we need 3 points at home.

In the greater scheme of things and ignoring the emotional importance of tomorrow, it is another league home game and one we need to be winning to claw our way up the table. We aren't going to get very far if we alternate with wins/draws at home and draws/defeats away. Our away record is frankly abysmal and as long as it remains so then there is little room for dropping points at home.

Maybe you should have come to the Q and A session and asked him that question. Also I will refer you to Bowyer's comments about fans stop moaning and come together and support the club and players.

Also Jal, I hope you are attending the game. Just like me. I will be 15/20 mins late but I will still be there supporting my team.

Chaddy was only referring to comments made pre Burnley game as every Rovers fan will be 100% behind the team and manager on Saturday absolutely.

Maybe Chaddy should refer GB to the poll on this thread, still over 90%

Bowyer made no such comment about fans moaning.

my apologises, it was bickering

Gary Bowyer 'as a club we need to stop the bickering'

By that he means no one should question his constant excuses, his lack of targets or ambition, the poor performances, poor defending, poor team selections and an embarrassing lack of wins this season.

Granted things have been a little better of late but it's a woeful situation.

Its a poll of 283 people on a MB. nothing more

That's how polls work, take a small sample and predict what the masses want, you are trying to make it sound like the 273 are not Rovers, why would you do that ?

Polls are excellent tools.

They are used by many commercial organisations in their market research.

The near 300 who have cast a vote here equates to about 2% of Rovers' average gate and that is a very decent sample size. Remember too, those who come on here are generally avid Rovers' fans irrespective of where they live.

The BBC's exit poll on election night which was unerringly accurate equated to approximately just 0.4% of the 30million+ votes cast - a much smaller sample size (0.4% versus 2%).

It's almost certain that this MB poll is highly representative of the views of the wider Rovers' fans base. It's a view supported by findings generally, for example, on Wednesday night, about 10 of us engaged in a 'group' discussion at half time and only 1 was pro Bowyer. Similarly, when out and about socialising, I find the Bowyerettes are in a tiny minority.

IMV, Bowyer is not helping himself with his mountain of excuses, whingeing and general pessimism (eg playing-up other teams' players). One senses fans are finding it increasingly tiresome, boring and frustrating - they are not fools - and I think it's only a matter of time before the 'faithful' turn and when they do, it might well be nasty.

Take a small, representative sample, quota'd for sex, age, longevity of support etc etc.

Self-selecting internet-based samples are only representative of people who take part in internet polls.

So your disrespecting the fans views on here now fine

Your credibility was shot to bits about 8 years ago ... I remember returning from a Reserves game at Leigh Sports Village, and read that you thought both Phil Jones and Grant Hanley should have been sent to the knackers yard. You've backed it up with 8 years of hatred / warped analysis of any half decent player to pull on the Blue and White shirt, and a never ending slagging off of fellow fans who choose to actually buy tickets and attend games.

So don't try and hide behind an internet poll with fewer than 300 votes in favour of your view, when 10,000 fans have paid to see the team at every home game and are still using their tickets week in week out - and 1,500 who made the trip to Milton Keynes of all places!

"On here" is totally unrepresentative.

As EiT has commented, the key word there is 'representative'. Your view there is about as accurate as your prediction in July that we'd sell three of Rhodes, Gestede, Marshall, Conway, and Hanley before the end of August. Forgive me if I don't take every word as a given.
