only2garners Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Also thanks to Tris. To my knowledge this is the first time the FF have had the opportunity, or at any rate to publicise it, to discuss football matters with the club. Paul, The policy of not discussing football matters was John Williams'. This was actually the third time Gary has been to the Forum. You can find the previous minutes of those meetings on the club website - 24/6/13 and 13/10/14.
Amo Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 As a squad man Lowe has a use and it's breaking up play and stopping the opposition, which i think he does do. You think wrong.
Speedie Dived Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 You think wrong. Well my eyes must be deceiving me
chris_h Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Well my eyes must be deceiving me Are your eyes regularly at Ewood SD? If so that gives you a distinct advantage over some.
Speedie Dived Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Are your eyes regularly at Ewood SD? If so that gives you a distinct advantage over some For my sins they are there every home again.
chris_h Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 For my sins they are there every home again. I'll go with your assessment over the armchair experts then.
Speedie Dived Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I'll go with your assessment over the armchair experts then. More fool you probably :-) He does do some good things defensively, but it goes unnoticed a lot. As fans we don't really pick up on who presses first which eventually leads us to winning the ball back. If Akpam can do that better then he should obviously replace Lowe.
tomphil Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 We don't need anyone replacing anyone if Evans and Guthrie can get a run of form together
OJRovers Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Were questions at the FF limited to the playing side of things? The important questions about the owners' plans, Exec structure, targets etc still need asking.
Amo Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I'll go with your assessment over the armchair experts then. We're all better off for knowing that.
AllRoverAsia Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 What % of those regularly attending games at Ewood are regular posters on this MB. Anyway we should only listen to those who sit in the JW upper centre as they have the best view of all - therefore their views on games/players take precedence over all others in the cheap seats. So my real question is what % of those regularly attending games at Ewood are regular posters on this MB and sit in the JW upper centre? Your views and opinions are all that matter. Yes it's complete @#/?. Meanwhile I will settle back into my armchair to watch Rovers Player, which by the way is bloody good now and real value for money.
Rover_Shaun Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Desperate stuff isn't it ARA? It seems, as all the moans have come to pass, that the big barrel of 'flaming' is now being scraped. The OAP father in law now sits in the JW Upper Centre and he continually says, to paraphrase, Jason Lowe is crap. Hanley is brainless (He also comments on their "unfathomable teachers pet prowess"). Bowyer is tactically clueless and as motivating as a redundancy announcement. And the team play for draws but are shambolic at the back. Whilst Jordan Rhodes is the entire team. Maybe he doesn't sit on the correct JW Upper Centre row and as such his opinion is redundant? Hmmmm

As long as you don't post your views on individual players from your Asian armchair with the authority of someone who is actually in a position to judge the said player having actually witnessed him ply his trade.

So GB never watches videos of potential players sent in by agents
chris_h Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 So GB never watches videos of potential players sent in by agents Is that a statement or a question?
yoda Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Is that a statement or a question? It's a question, along the lines of, do the panel on match of the day have valid opinions as they have watched the games on video ?

The only reference point we've got is letting you marry his daughter, so clearly good judgement isn't a strong point ...
chris_h Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 It's a question, along the lines of, do the panel on match of the day have valid opinions as they have watched the games on video ? That's a valid point I suppose. If the MOTD panel was made up of Joe Blow then I would not give Joe's opinion any merit above that of somebody actually at the game. However, it is my understanding that the MOTD panel sit down of a Saturday aft at the BBC and have the benefit of multiple angles whilst watching live coverage of the games. They then have a few hours to formulate their opinions. Given that the MOTD pundits are generally vastly experienced ex pros with access to the multi angles then their opinion is more valid than some bloke down south watching a buffering stream of Rovers v Brentford.

You mean the stream that shows different angles of main events in a game, not defending anyone here but it is so easy to miss an important event while at a live game, toilet call, someone passing in front of you etc. I am sure you must have had it happen to you, I know I have.
JAL Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Can someone ask ....what is it all about after signing an amazing 36 plus players ?
chris_h Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 You mean the stream that shows different angles of main events in a game, not defending anyone here but it is so easy to miss an important event while at a live game, toilet call, someone passing in front of you etc. I am sure you must have had it happen to you, I know I have. Yes, that's happened to me many a time. But I maintain that a spectator at the game can view the nuances within the match and the see the work a player does off the ball which is generally missed by the camera. You can miss a goal or a sending off due to going for a leak but you still view how a team plays and how individuals work within it during the 80 plus minutes you are in your seat. You don't get that on TV for in my opinion. By the way, I think Jason Lowe is a pretty average player.
only2garners Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Were questions at the FF limited to the playing side of things? No. Tris just posted the section re Bowyer, although as Gary was there we spent most time on that item. The full minutes are now live on the website.
chaddyrovers Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 So GB never watches videos of potential players sent in by agents I would think he would pass them on to Tommy Johnson(chief Scout) and he would be the one who would scout/look into the player in more detail No doubt that Bowyer gets phone calls from loads of agents offering him players. but we do have a scouting network now in place since Bowyer took over as manager
