yoda Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 In the most vague terms ever! Also didn't GB also say no specific targets (apologies if misread). You're right though - he along with our owners top the list of why we won't get it. It didn't sound vague from where I was sat, sick note backed it up as well, One question I wanted to ask GB near the end was, are the 2 balloons on either side of you supporting you as expected ? due to circumstances didn't get that last question in ! My other question, when I asked it, kicked of the passionate supporter gig again

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Rest assured nothing much has changed,we are very much still a club in deep limbo. The wrong people on all levels.
OJRovers Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 One more comment that people might be interested in. Shaw reckons that it needs 17 clubs to vote in favour of throwing out FFP. Originally there were three clubs against it, but he believes there are now 14 clubs against it. He thinks it will get thrown out at some point in the future. Just in time for every other club apart from rovers/Forrest to get away with it. It's a joke. The biggest of all being Leicester, just google how they avoided FFP by being paid by a fictional company. Any questions about us only having a part-time MD and no chairman?

The biggest of all being Leicester, just google how they avoided FFP by being paid by a fictional company. Any questions about us only having a part-time MD and no chairman? There were some very direct questions to sick note and Degsy, one to sick note was, What do you do ? took him by surprise and he could not answer ! One to Degsy was why are you still at the club when a judge described you as "rogue" think that was the start of Degsy's defence of I was told to do it, interestingly he said that he did not agree with that court case and Shabby arranged it all !
den Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I'm sure that Accy Stanley and the other 70 Football League clubs would want to be promoted to the Premier League. Unfortunately it takes more than desire to do it. It requires a strategy, identity, plan, ruthless management, efficient and decisive management. Not to mention substantial investment in building and retaining a quality squad. Do we have any of those? A decent squad all things considered. But a managing director that has little or no communication with the owners? It can't work like that. The 20,000 crowds comment is nonsense. Gates of that size are the exception rather than the norm outside the Premier League. We sell less executive boxes than some League Two clubs. We are the former Premier league Champions for God's sake! I don't doubt Myers is working to sell more. But he's been here 2 years and the situation is frankly appalling for a club of our size. How much longer is it going to take to improve and sell some boxes? Go sell boxes is easy to say. We found that difficult when we won the PL.
yoda Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Go sell boxes is easy to say. We found that difficult when we won the PL. One lad brought up a valid point, is it better to sell them cheap to fill them or not, Myers thought not because it de values the product, same with the empty seats

Gav Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Rest assured nothing much has changed,we are very much still a club in deep limbo. The wrong people on all levels. .....and until the owners crawl back under the rock, we'll not progress, because the staff are very much in the owners mold, useless, incompetent and out of their depth.
Amo Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Shaw reminds me of the Tories blaming the previous government for all their shortcomings.
Baz Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Yoda, where you sat next to Savio? The comments that summed things up for me where Degsy saying that the owners want promotion, but where realistic and not going to start sacking people if it didn't happen, and all 3 of them agreeing we have had only 3 bad halves of football in the past 2 seasons.
J*B Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 He was told to do what? Is he saying he didn't tell the truth when in court? I asked the question. He replied he didn't go to court, didn't know what was said in court and said going to court over Berg was a further waste of needed money which should never happened. Mic was on its way to the next question before I could ask him if he was suggesting the Rovers lawyer was lying in court. When it came back round the moment had passed and we where back to arguing about why people got their tickets moved for the Bolton game.

The "Promotion" answer he gave me was either hollow or deluded. Even when I pressed him, and afirmed "we are a long way of that" he continued unabashed and then said "or playoffs". Does this mean Shaw and the owners expect automatic promotion, then? Even more laughable.
yoda Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 He was told to do what? Is he saying he didn't tell the truth when in court? He didn't go to court, he signed the contract though, he said the court case was Shabby's idea

He didn't go to court, he signed the contract though, he said the court case was Shabby's idea Ah, I thought he had been a part of those proceedings. Seemed logical that he would be when he was one of the focal points, but I suppose that proves him right when he says it was a waste of time. Was he asked directly how he felt about the owners labeling him a rogue, and how he could possibly still be working for Rovers with that having been said? Sounds like attention got drawn away from what is, imo, one of the most troubling aspects of Shaw being in the position he is in.

Even more laughable. They would like promotion, but it's not been laid down as a target. In fact, no one has a target, that's how I take it. Promotion would be nice, but there doesn't seem to be much belief that they can achieve it.There's nothing like ambition - and that's nothing like ambition. Everything seems so airy fairy. Basically he didn't do anything wrong. Sounds like he's basically saying the court case was a sham designed to try and take from Berg the monies rightfully owed to him. Venky's assumedly signed off on this course of action so Shaw is inadvertently painting them in a pretty bad light. Shebby was an extension of Venky's at that time, working directly for them, after all.

WTF was he doing arranging things then and running around like he was in charge, sounds like work to me. Where is the immigration enforcement office when you need it ?
scotty_beam_me_up Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I have to say last night was an eye opener. Bowyer initially disappointed me when he put our poor results down to bad luck and not poor performance. However his wit did shine through and seemed a decent bloke. I think after question 1 he wondered what he had put himself into. Shaw was terrible. I did have to laugh though when he pointed out Glen had been Shebby's biggest cheerleader. Shaw has a very thick skin and nothing phased him. He came across that he has very little regard for Blackburn Rovers and just happy to be picking up his pay cheque. Blaming the signings of Best and Etuhu and Shebby smacked of the teenager who says to his mum. "It wasn't my fault a bigger boy made me." Myers gave media savvy answers with little actual content. The only question he struggled to answer was "Alan what do you do?" It was a shame a few people had a few too many drinks and ruined it at the end. It really annoyed me that any one who asked a question of the goings on at the club was shouted down by the "super fans" in the room. Lastly too much time spent on "Where are my Bolton tickets?"

Sounds to me like shebby had a far reaching influence in some very high circles then. It's a wonder why he acted like a first class muppet during his stay here. What to believe. The word of the current incumbent muppet or the actions of a previously employed one. Rock and a hard place. On a side note, it's nice to hear people appreciating Bowyer's personality. I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, but I've said it for a while. I bet he's very good company in an environment he's comfortable in. It's probably why the players like him. He may not have the most endearing tone, but he's got a very dry wit and he seems like a good sort to me. Partly why I hope he manages to get some success. Good bloke imo.
TeamGB-11 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 But did he say 'right good go' or 'ever so well' though..? Only joking..

Mike Graham Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 One lad brought up a valid point, is it better to sell them cheap to fill them or not, Myers thought not because it de values the product, same with the empty seats We have not sold a single corporate box this year. Well, we have 12000 regulars now. We're losing tens of millions annually and are nowhere near promotion. We have less than 10,000 regulars. BTW, did anyone ask Bowyer about his weird team selections and barmy substitutions?
yoda Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 We have not sold a single corporate box this year. Well you can't devalue something that no one wants to buy, so I think the lad that brought it up has a valid point. kind of destroys Myers view that it would devalue it, when it has already dropped through the floor.
pk1875 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Just wanted to thank everyone who came and supported the event, I said from the off that the night would be as good or bad as people made it. It was a chance for supporters to ask open questions.I was pleased to see a diverse mix of fans in the room, some BRFCAG members many not.To get the directors and manager to agree to an open floor event with off the cuff questions being fired at them was a big achievement, but in my opinion it needed doing after all the club and supporters have been through and fair do's to them for agreeing to it.The questions were a good mix and some important topics covered, as for those criticising Terry he is a passionate guy and I don't think he really had a negative effect on the night, it was always going to have spikey moments. Even the lad who got agitated at the end didn't realy ring the night to an early end as it was the last question anyway. All in all I thought it was a good night, those who I have spoken to agreed and hopefully that will be the view of most who attended.
