Baz Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I like RU but got deflated when England blew it against Wales with too much theory and not enough grit, all credit to Wales though. The rest of the Tournament will be well worth watching and I hope Wales, NI and Scotland all go well. NI?

Husky Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 I must admit I lost interest after England went out. Also being abroad in the sun helped. It looks like I missed a couple of cracking QF games.
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Scotland were so unlucky. Great game though, and our performances bode well for the 6 nations. Looking forward to the semi's, fancy the All Blacks to win it now.

Looking forward to the semi's, fancy the All Blacks to win it now. Unlucky at the end, but you did get at least some the rub of the green over the 80 minutes, the Aussies dropped one after getting over the line, you had a charge down go straight to hand, and an interception try. However Scotland played very well. The first yellow card was marginal, and the penalty at the end was just an awful decision, but in all honesty more or less every time theres a scrum these days theres a penalty given, and in most cases it could go either way. Its one of the biggest problems with union at present that 3 minor infringements on the halfway line are worth more than a try.
joey_big_nose Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Cracking to see the team belt out the national anthem, unpopular apparently with some of the clowns on here. It's a terrible dirge with terrible lyrics, absurdly about saving the person who has least need for saving in the country, and totally failing to mention the things that do actually make Britain great (scientific discovery, parliament, the industrial revolution, liberty etc). Loads of people the length and bredth of the country hate it. It is already withering and dying through being irrelevant. It's a matter of time.As for the rugby - really enjoyed all of the games I've seen. Shame England went out so early. Scotland were magnificent against the Aussies, really felt for them. Argentina somewhat less good, but still the Aussies struggled. Think NZ will walk it.
Mattyblue Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Surely the time is right for English sport teams to move away from GSTQ? As the British anthem, it should be reserved for purely British teams and non sporting ocassions.
cn174 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 RIP Jonah Lomu I'm not the biggest fan of rugby union, but this fella was just a class above. Was watching a video of his tackles and tries the other day, just so powerful knocking others out of the way and running through like they weren't even there.
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Absolute monster of a player, one of my favourite sportsmen from my childhood and I was never really that into rugby.
Baz Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Sad loss. One of the Greatest union players ever.
matt83 Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I know not World Cup but couldn't see another rugby union thread This was the Australian tv advert ahead of this series. https://youtu.be/QvwDoJnO484 They look rather silly being 2-0 going into a potential 3-0 series whitewash next Saturday.
Gav Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Outstanding England performance, in both games, first series win in Auz, just brilliant. Let's make 3-0 next week.
Husky Posted June 18, 2016 Author Posted June 18, 2016 Best rugby game EVER! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pEiIV_IqMw
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Phenomenal from England, heroic. The commenrator afterwards comparing it to Agincourt wasn't far wrong. The Aussie defence against Wales in the world cup was one of the best I've ever seen, and this was a level above that. Maybe the glory days of Woodward are set to return!
Husky Posted June 18, 2016 Author Posted June 18, 2016 To think that's the first time ever that an England team has won a series Down Under . . . Truly an amazing history making performance... Also I bought an England flag from poundland today.
perthblue02 Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Wondered why there was some miserable looking Aussies sat outside the pub today in Rugby shirts, If I had known would have shouted England as I drove past them
Norbert Rassragr Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Always good to beat Australia. It also shows how crap Lancaster was as England coach. He helped set up the academy system, and the youth teams but he wasn't a top coach like Jones, Hansen or even Gatland. Just have to get as good as New Zealand now!
Gav Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Looking forward to us hopefully whitewashing the Aussies, kicks off at 11am I think. Come on England!
matt83 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 35-41 3 mins to go this has been another cracking rugby match. And the whitewash well and truly on
Husky Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Amazing. A whitewash! 40 points conceded and they still win! THREE NIL. England is proud again!
matt83 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Apparently England had only won 3 matches in Australia before this tour now doubled that. Amazing series
Husky Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 I'm right in thinking there are no highlights on terrestrial/freeview TV at any stage aren't I? I wouldn't mind watching them in better quality than my live source.
Gav Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 The England side should catch the plane over to NZ right away and stuff the All Blacks, we may as well put them both to the sword whilst we're over there
gumboots Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 No mention of England winning the under 20 world cup yesterday so I'll mention it. Fantastic afternoons rugby at the AJ Bell. South Africa v Argentina for 3rd place. Great second half from Argentina saw them finish 3rd. New Zealand v Australia for 5th and 6th places. Bit of a war of attrition at times but the new Zealanders were more clinical in their finishing so got 5th. Then England Ireland for the trophy. England were just too strong for Ireland although Ireland put up a good fight with some decent rugby. All 3 matches £25. Great atmosphere. Fans from all 6 countries together in the stands. Hard work and no little skill from all 6 teams. Motm for England, captain Harry Mallinder, son of Jim Mallinder. Looks pretty good as did several of our other players. The futures looking bright.

Fantastic news. I don't fully understand rugby but lots of friends and family love it and have had a fabulous weekend!
gumboots Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I don't understand all the ins and outs of the rules either but I understand enough to enjoy it. Watching these young guys play without a hint of the prima Donna stuff we see in football was great.
