Jock Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 It's all about Vardy for me . He's the man of the moment.
Backroom DE. Posted June 16, 2016 Backroom Posted June 16, 2016 Wales deserve nothing from this match. A cowardly performance, they haven't tried to make it a contest. Shame on them. Not sure how we managed it, but we're most likely through to the next round now. I very much hope Roy has learned his lesson. Kane and Sterling must not start the next match. Serious question marks over Alli as well.
Husky Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I suspect none of that lot would get in the England set-up.
chaddyrovers Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Well done to England and Roy Hodgson for making those subs. Made the right decisions. So much passion from the team and staff
Backroom DE. Posted June 16, 2016 Backroom Posted June 16, 2016 Kane and Sterling must be kept out of the team now. Vardy and Sturridge have both shown Roy he's been wrong to leave them out, now he has to accept his mistakes and give us a chance from the start.
Hasta Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Kane and Sterling must be kept out of the team now. Rashford may also have pushed himself into first attacking sub if we need a goal.
Audax Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Just what a great goal through all of that traffic by Sturridge. Both goals were. And Wales' goal; I don't know if I could have kept that from going in but you do hope a professional at that level could do it.
Stuart Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Brilliant comment on Twitter from one of the anonymous twitterati. "Value of Sterling falls on fears of Euro exit". Genius.
Husky Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 All credit to Woy for making the half-time changes. Nothing more annoying than the standard 'let's give it 15 more minutes' nonsense.
Backroom Silas Posted June 16, 2016 Backroom Posted June 16, 2016 Kane and Sterling must be kept out of the team now. Vardy and Sturridge have both shown Roy he's been wrong to leave them out, now he has to accept his mistakes and give us a chance from the start. True. And Roy almost has a free game now against slovakia. He can play around with the team a bit, give a couple of players a run out and come up with the final A team for the knockout phases. So nice to see a last minute goal for us to reverse the Russia misery. Absolutely massive. And seeing the welsh cry in the crowd has given me no joy whatsoever after all their gob..... Honest.
Stuart Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 And seeing the welsh cry in the crowd has given me no joy whatsoever after all their gob..... Honest. That was at 1-1 as well with about 5 minutes left. Real, real passion. Made me briefly remember what bring a football fan is supposed to be about. The pressure must have been enormous. Hope he didn't have his house on a Wales win.
Audax Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Would not have wanted to face Slovakia with only 1 point in the group; this was looking like a near calamity. As it is, it is likely that 1st, 2nd and 3rd in group B will go through. Now: England 4, Wales 3, Slovakia 3, Russia 1 My footballing knowledge is probably least here; but that Sturridge goal was a bit of the kind you see Messi score. Impressive. France has had to score all 3 of their goals I believe very near the 90th. So, there have been a number of late goals.

That's what made it even funnier stuart. Even an inbred that spends most of their leisure time nuts deep in a woolly farm animal had the brain to see what was gonna happen. I never doubted it for a second.....honest.
Gav Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Some of you lot need to click back a few pages and read some of the absolute bunkum you've posted Roy Hodgson takes some right stick, most of it unwarranted in my opinion, and after a very good performance against Russia he couldn't change things today. But after a very poor first half from Sterling especially, he acted and won the game for us, well done Roy. Just a word for Ali and Dier, both very poor today I thought, gave the ball away, no penetration and did very little, Rooney was excellent, especially first half and Joe Hart, always prone to a mistake is Joe but we got away with it, just. So top of the group, despite all the negativity around the Russia game and looking like we'll progress with at a canter.
joey_big_nose Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Never seen England so dominant at a tourament as the last two games. However we do seem to really struggle scoring despite loadsof chances, and despite Russia and Wales having about 5 chances combined over two games we managed to concede 2 goals.

Most of the criticism I saw (mine included) was saying his substitutions in the Russia game cost us 2 points. You seemed to imagine that just saying that was being critical of everything Woy did.
tomphil Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 No time for Hodgson at all myself but fair play for not being stubborn as is his way and actually changing it. Sterling should have been potted after the Russia game but apart from that he was right to keep it the same. As ever with Woy his silly tactics baffle his own team rather than the opposition, seen it time and again with him down the years. Sterling starts on the left then drifts to the middle looking for long balls then goes on the right wing all in the first 15 mins, ridiculous stuff but no surprise. A step back to basics in the 2nd half after that Welsh goal actually sparked him and the team into urgency, gone in 0-0 and nowt would have changed apart from maybe a like for like in the last ten mins and we'd probably have drawn. Big big credit to the players for keeping up that intense effort till the end. Fully deserved.

But after a very poor first half from Sterling especially, he acted and won the game for us, well done Roy. Steady on Gav. The emotion of the afternoon is making you giddy. Let's get it straight, Roy got the starting line-up wrong against Russia, the substitutions were abysmal, and the starting line-up wrong today. As u say he nailed the subs today and won us the game, so IMO he has got 1 out of 4 decisions right. No need to get carried away with those stats. BUT.... it was so nice to see a manager actually go for it today when necessary and he deserves massive credit for that. How many times have we seen Capello, Eriksson, Hodgson, Bowyer, frigging Kean watch their team struggle a goal down, and stand on the sidelines flapping their arms and shouting loads, but not actually making any moves to resolve the situation. And it's so infuriating. But today Roy was swift and decisive, and it paid dividends. There was none of this waiting till 60 mins, let's see how the team starts the 2nd half crap. So refreshing. Hopefully this is a step in right direction and a sign of things to come. The starting 11 for the next 2 matches will clarify for me whether Roy really has turned a corner. But regardless, congrats to him and the team on today's outcome.
LewisF Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I, like most others, would drop sterling and Kane for Sturridge and Vardy now, those two have shown more in half a match than the former duo did in two matches. Wonder how my throat will be tomorrow
