Backroom DE. Posted June 17, 2016 Backroom Posted June 17, 2016 Absolutely disgraceful scenes. Sad for the Croatian team, they deserve better than to have fans like that.

Stuart Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Wow it exploded right in his face that could have been awfulI don't care what they call it, that was a bomb.Despite all of the pre-tournament tension there is clearly no real increase in security at all. I can't remember seeing so many flares at games.
Audax Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Those are the same kinds of fans that got Croatia in trouble by forming a SwastiKa and Croatia got punished. Mindless acts. And the population isn't that big and of course, they were in the Balkans wars.
wolfie Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Remember same thing happening with Croatian fans in Italy a couple of years ago. Article is worth a read, gives a bit of background as to why it happened. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiHhIy90q_NAhVG5xoKHRWyBk4QFggrMAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theguardian.com%2Ffootball%2Fblog%2F2014%2Fnov%2F17%2Fcroatia-fans-terrorism-italy-planned-cry-attention&usg=AFQjCNGXZI8bTjWjNdykat3Ir8Kh1WL2Jg&sig2=NXiIahqvNnnxjLfOdhFouA
Audax Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I don't know if it has been in the Olympics where security is lined up shoulder to shoulder on the sideline, that's really what is needed, not just a bunch of folks in fluorescent vests. I've seen better policed games.
Stuart Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Can you imagine if Spanish managers had played Iniesta on the wing to accommodate Xavi and Alonso in the centre.
Husky Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 The tournament has been missing a proper one-sided game so far.
JAL Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 There you go again with your inane drivel, England were camped out on Wales penalty area most of the match, Wales throwing bodies in, give your head a wobble They weren't doing a great deal for me think you've allowed yourself to get carried away luckily though the Welsh gifted the first goal.
Hasta Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 They weren't doing a great deal for me think you've allowed yourself to get carried away luckily though the Welsh gifted the first goal.Give over JAL.We gifted Wales their goal and they hardly had another attack. We dominated the ball and possession. If you're permanently shooting and crossing eventually something will go your way such as the first goal. The second was class play. I remember a Burnley fan complaining that we couldn't break then down in the FA Cup and it took a deflection to open them up. I replied that if you spend 30 minutes camped on the edge of your own box allowing us to keep shooting from 30 yards, don't complain if one eventually finds its way in. Wales were lucky it wasn't 3 or 4.
Backroom DE. Posted June 17, 2016 Backroom Posted June 17, 2016 Would very much like to see Spain face Croatia, think that would be a cracking game.
Iceman Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Would very much like to see Spain face Croatia, think that would be a cracking game. Why not Spain vs England?
Audax Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-3647205/Croatia-fans-fight-throw-flares-pitch-Euro-2016-clash-Czech-Republic.html Croatia should have 6 points most likely, they have 4 and will face Spain. Croatia was victimized by bad refereeing vs. Brazil in the last world cup, I can't remember well who else was in the group. Why not Spain vs England? Maybe because Spain and Croatia are in the same group, next game.

Depending where England end up, they could still play either Germany or Spain. At least thats what i read earlier when they looked at Englands potential opponents.
joey_big_nose Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 The lack of security is incredibly strange considering the paris attacks and the hooligan problem. Much lower than even a routine prem league game so it would seem.
Backroom DE. Posted June 17, 2016 Backroom Posted June 17, 2016 Why not Spain vs England? Sure, in the final maybe. Not until then, thanks.

Neal Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 If it hasn't been posted already, this explains the behaviour of Croatian fans. Was a staged protest it seems against their own football federation and key members thought to be involved in match fixing and money laundering. http://www.goal.com/euro2016/en/article/why-did-croatia-hooligans-stage-shocking-flare-protest-at-euro-2016/15ao0gjqf711b1loskyoy73kfb

You would assume that Croatian FA Chief and Euro 96 hero Davor Suker would be a legend among Croatian fans. But to many he is being used as the figurehead of a mafia, run by Mamic. https://www.dreamteamfc.com/c/croatia-fans-happy-team-gets-kicked-euro-2016/
LewisF Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Ibrahimovic's miss yesterday.... I mean, I know he was offside, but he didn't know that when he had the shot. How's it even possible to get it that far off target from less than 2 yards
philipl Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Let's not get carried away- Slovakia are no pushovers and getting a draw would pretty well ensure their progress to the round of 16. Spain certainly looked the business but Turkey didn't really turn up. Really looking forward to the last round of group matches. Having the best 4 third place teams progress is actually making for far more games having meaning.

gumboots Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 The lack of security is incredibly strange considering the paris attacks and the hooligan problem. Much lower than even a routine prem league game so it would seem.the french police have no idea how to police a match when there are 2 full sets of fans. Because of the way the French sell away tickets - not via the club but through supporters groups- and the often long distances involved, not many fans travel to away matches. We went to watch Lorient play Nice and there were 6 away fans. Only when Rennes come to town do Lorient have to up security. There is very little police presence around grounds normally and stewarding is done by ground stewards. They don't seem to have stepped this up significantly, unlike when we had the Olympics here and called in the armed forces to check bags etc with airport style bag checks at every venue.
