BlueMonday Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 No way Hodgson should ring the changes, we have a great route to the semi final if we win the group, this is not an effing freindly Got a feeling he won't make as many changes as he's hinting at. Could be pre match mind games. Think Vardy and Sturridge will definitely start and poss Henderson for Ali. My guess is Rooney will start, but will be subbed at some point or if the games in the bag.
A cup of beans Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 No way Hodgson should ring the changes, we have a great route to the semi final if we win the group, this is not an effing freindly Those were my thoughts. It's adding to my nervousness. Could be stung. Risky when rotating for the sake of it.
Gav Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 No way Hodgson should ring the changes, we have a great route to the semi final if we win the group, this is not an effing freindly Have you seen the quality on the bench? Personally I have absolute faith in Roy, he's done everything the fans and pundits have asked by picking youth more or less across the board, he's got them playing well and has picked players on form, almost the entire 23 are in form, Sterling and a very tired Kane aside. Trust the guy, he knows what he's doing.
AggyBlue Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Trust the guy, he knows what he's doing. He's changed from when he managed us then
Gav Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 He's changed from when he managed us then He was outstanding for the first 12 months, then Sherwood revolted and Roy refused to change his tactics.
Audax Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Slovakia have 3 points, Slovakia need at least 1 point to practically assure advancement. That worries me some. Also, some teams flub up one game, often it's the first one, jitters. But England can't mess this up; or Roy's really in the hot seat, sure, England will advance no matter what. Their chances of not advancing if they were to lose is about 8%.
Gav Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 England beating Wales was the key result in this group, we're through already, and hopefully a victory tonight ensures we go through in 1st place. I won't be watching the game but I hope Wale send the Russians home, for a variety of reasons, but can you imagine the shame of a country the size of Wales sending Russia with 140m people home. Come on Wales
joey_big_nose Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Bloody hell he made all the changes. We better win or the knives will be out. Bold move.
oldjamfan1 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I know they are no mugs but we're playing Slovakia. The team he has picked should be able to beat them with a fair bit to spare. Some of the players he has brought in are the same ones that folk have been clamouring for. Tournament management. (It could blow up in his face, right enough lol)

(It could blow up in his face, right enough lol) I just dont really buy that you need to rest players for a maximum of a seven game tournament, especially when we have been so dominant the players have strolled around without breaking a sweat.Ive defended Hodgson but this is very odd.
Gav Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Bloody hell he made all the changes. We better win or the knives will be out. Bold move. Not bold at all, look at the players that are coming in, quality in every position. This team sends out a message and deals with tired legs/yellow cards, players want to prove a point so give them a reason and save legs. This is Slovakia not Spain and I applaud Roy for doing something different, doing the norm has not worked in 50yrs, I'm ready for something different.
Stuart Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Gary Cahill first goal.Which net?Very concerned with Woy's seemingly random approach to these games. We want a top of the group finish, surely?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 20, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted June 20, 2016 Six changes is pretty ballsy. Especially as two of those changes were in the full back positions where I felt we were the strongest incidentally....
Gav Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Mate just rang me from the ground, he thinks 30k England fans in the ground out of a 40k capacity. Superb support, Come on England
Blue blood Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Not sure if too many changes but then since some third place teams go through (given any place with a population of over 500 people is on the tournament and only 2 go out at group stages - or something like that) the risk is minimal. Personally I'd have just changed those there are no cover for or haven't performed. But we'll get ar least a draw and go through.
philipl Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 England not fluid and Wales running away with it against Russia.
Husky Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Is there any advantage to finishing 1st in the group as opposed to 2nd? (I know if we get beat here and finish 3rd we could end up playing Germany or Spain next round).
Amo Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Boring game. Only a matter of time before England score.
wolfie Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Wilshere struggling, Looking really short of match practice. Is there any advantage to finishing 1st in the group as opposed to 2nd? (I know if we get beat here and finish 3rd we could end up playing Germany or Spain next round). If we win the group we play one of the 3rd place qualifiers.
Stuart Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Boring is the word. Disappointed with the changes. Despite the players bring fairly similar in ability, tournament sides need to gel quickly. Chopping and changing means starting again and finding your feet each game. I certainly wouldn't have dropped Walker, he was instrumental against Wales. Wilpshire has lost the ball with alarming regularity, and if Henderson didn't play for Liverpool (dining out on being Gerrard's replacement) he would be nowhere near the Engkand team. Drinkwater and Noble both better but don't play for trendy clubs. Always looking to nick a game by the odd goal. You don't get points for possession.
chaddyrovers Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 England playing well and some of football we are playing is first class. Dont know how people are finding this boring. Really???
Husky Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Wilshere struggling, Looking really short of match practice. Is he using this tournament to get match fit for Arsenal or what?
