We'd have never beat Portugal, Ronaldo would have turned up and destroyed us.

I fully agree.

We can't play against Portgual. They play a much more pedestrian game. England get bored with it and then do something daft when their concentration has gone. Then Portugal turns on the acting making it all the more frustrating for the England players. Add in Ronaldo and it's a recipe for disaster.

I'm not knocking it, that happens a lot with little teams getting into these tournaments, Germany will probably defeat Slovakia but the goal may not occur until late in it. It happens. This Italy Ireland match isn't too bad, Ireland has come very close.
