A career in football punditry awaits you. Very insightful.

From a pool of 46 (if I recall correctly) professional players playing in the 4 leagues in England, and top 2 leagues in Scotland, I don't think we (Northern Ireland) can be too upset at getting to the last 16. The only negative is that a fantastic servant, Gareth McAuley appears to have signed out of International football in the worst way possible. A great achievement from such a small, and restricted nation. Plenty to be proud of, especially for a 'mince' (?) team....

The goal wasn't McCauley's fault. He was trying to clear it. If he hadn't made contact the Welsh lad would have.

Just got home from the scout hut beer festival to find an email from a director friend of a large French electricity untility company asking me to the Final as a corporate guest.

Not sure. I may take take a couple of days to answer.

Damm! I forgot about the beer fest, Mike. Meant to attend and sample.

What a bloody shame for Croatia. They are such a great footballing side. Still, I'd rather England play Portugal rather than Croatia at some stage.

It's like watching three teams. A really crap 10-man team, a self-style superstar playing for himself, and Croatia.

Pleased for the 10-men.

Disappointed for Croatia.

Beginning to really dislike Ronaldo.

Even his poor shot that ended up as a lucky assist was celebrated as two separate events.

Like we beat Russia and Slovakia you mean? You forget that we lack one vital ingredient in tournament football - balls. I'd have wagered that we wouldn't have made it past either.

Er...Portugal haven't won a single game in 90 minutes out of four so far yet are through to the quarters.

I think the failures of previous England teams are hardly the fault of the majority of the young lads in the current squad. Let's not write ourselves off too soon GSR.

It's just crazy, Croatia beat Spain and lose to Portugal; I mean, one of those teams is a lot better than the other I thought!

The result of one game doesn't necessarily determine the result of another.

Football has always been like that, which is why we love it so much.
