Husky Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 It seems Ireland have only had one touch in the first 10 minutes.

roverandout Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 hope ireland go through because we have a better chance against the irish if we get through tommorow
Audax Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 60 minutes to go; France has not come up with much in response to that goal. One really wonders how this match will shape up. That could happen to any team and it be England vs. Iceland or whomever, these teams need to be able respond to that, an own goal, anything dire.
Husky Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 hope ireland go through because we have a better chance against the irish if we get through tommorow It's okay. Should it pan out that we play (and lose) to France in the quarter-final I've created a parliamentary petition to 'replay the match should England lose'.
Gav Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Payets a quality player, great touch, hardly ever misplaces a pass and can score from anywhere. ROI can win this, the French are all over the place and if Ireland get balls into the box they're dangerous.

Gav Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The delivery has been terrible so far. They've had 2 great chances aside from the goal with balls into the box, if they'd have taken one of them I'd say they're through, but its going to be a tough second half. Nothing for England to fear if we get past Iceland.

The French will take Giroud off and go for pace up front. Payet has been static so far but Pogba is getting more into it. What a shambles the French defence is though. I thought Duffy was going to score with a header. Going to be a different 2nd half and I hope Ireland snatch another goal soon. Edit: Prediction: France to lose a player on 2nd yellow!!
Audax Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Republic goes from looking like one of the lesser teams in the tournament, then defeat a heavily substituted Italy team and then, getting an advantage on France. If they survive this and England advance, the Irish must at least feel very positive. They had to call a penalty on that, the French player must have been sleeping, 2 minutes in and doing that. I'm no fan of Roy Keane but he may well have some sage advice in a situation like this.

Roy's advice will be along the lines of ''do whatever is necessary''
Audax Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Shane Long bought the penalty. Clever player. Roy's advice will be along the lines of ''do whatever is necessary'' I haven't watched replays heavily but I thought the French player brought him down by grabbing the Ireland player's shoulders; and Republic of Ireland may well not have scored on that if he had been untouched. Harsh but Justice for France.

Harsh but Justice for France. Clever play by Long. He's in front of Pogba, moves right leg across and drops pace. A foul in the only outcome. Bought my arse. No criticism of Long intended.
Audax Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Oh, that was a nice header! 1-1 Updating, Griezmann scored his 2nd goal, France leads 2-1.
Audax Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Robbie Keane was on the 2002 Republic of Ireland squad, though I don't think Robbie Keane has been played in this Euro, he is on the squad this time too. So, he's had a very lengthy international career.
G Somerset Rover Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Oh dear Shane. Solid game first half but lack of pace and positional sense badly exposed second half. No shame in that against somebody like Griezmann though.
matt83 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I was just plotting a route to glory which involved rolling over Iceland and Ireland. Somehow beating Germans in semi then beating Belgium in the final. That dream ended quickly. Back to losing on penalties in quarters to France.
joey_big_nose Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 well at least no one will be buying Duffy! Crazy 15 mins from him after an excellent tournament so far.
