just out of curiosity .. who do you think is the best manager, currently out of work that , realistically, we could appoint

Well I can tell you who it isn't and that's Tim Sherwood, absolutely useless at Villa, I dread to think what he'd be like with average Championship players. The fans and press down here have had a field day, bad buys, no tactical nous and can't positively impact a game with his subs, sound familiar?

What we need is experience, Holloway would do, Malky or Pearson, but needs to have experience, that's the key.

But as we all know the 3 stooges won't sack Bowyer, he's made them a packet in the last few months and they're that thick they see that as a massive step in the right direction.

Don't forget that you've already been told they are looking to raise at least another £5m in January through sales.

It's scary isn't it?

Shaw is, by all accounts, the most senior executive at this football club. A football club with a multi-million pound turnover, hundreds of staff, tens of thousands of supporters, competing in the Championship, and supposedly aiming for the Premier League.

Perhaps the most significant obstacle to our progress at this moment in time, along with some views on the manager, is the transfer embargo, which is affecting 2 out of 24 clubs whilst the other 22 are seemingly free to do as they please.

If there is one thing other than actually getting us out of the embargo that Shaw could have done this summer it would be to have secured some sort of guarantee, promise, arrangement, or precise figure as to how much money we need or what we specifically need to do and when to remove the embargo asap.

And he can't even do that. If the League are unwilling to provide such a figure then Shaw should be banging their door down demanding clarity and threatening all sorts of action to force them to be clear what we need to do.

Its simply inconceivable that a professional club of our size in a division like the Championship seemingly has no real idea how or when the transfer embargo is going to be lifted, despite 2 years of cost cutting and £10 million from player sales.

Good post. Question though, which is the other club out of the two?

Nigel Pearson would be my favourite Malky Mckay Sherwood and Poyet need to rebuild their reputations and i'd prefer another club to take that risk, Holloway would be great comedy value but thats not what we need right now and ive never seen the attraction in Billy Davies , but thats just me

Holloways a bit marmite but I can't help thinking he could get a bit more out of this squad. Not sure his open style of football would suit our defence though as they've only recently learned what clean sheets are. The state we may end up in we are going to need a firefighter type instead even if it's only short term.

I rate Pearson but there's not a chance he would come here, he threw a lot of money at it with Leicester and eventually got them promoted and of course did a great job too keep them up in the prem. But with our financial constraints there is no chance he'd come here, agree on Billy Davies never been a fan. Would love Neil Warnock.

All those saying they would take Neil Warnock - be very careful what you wish for. The man is a prize c0ck who is unsuited to modern football. He wouldn't last 3 months at Ewood.

Most of the other names being put forward have major failure on their CVs as well, but of all of them I think I would take Paul Lambert.

I agree entirely with your comments on Warnock having met the man countless times in a professional capacity and spoke to many players who played for him.

As for a new manager I haven't even thought about it. I really can't see Bowyer going at any time in the near future as we bumble along hovering just above the relegation places. However I hope I am wrong because we need to see the back of him quickly.

Warnock would never come here anyway, lives in Cornwall. Whilst his methods maybe questionable he gets teams promoted, exactly what we need, so i disagree.

Any experienced manager will have failures on his CV, but it's all irrelevant anyway because the 3 stooges think everything in the Ewood garden is coming up roses.....

Blaming Rhodes is beyond words. Our best player by a country mile. You can't have a go at players for missing chances. It happens.

Lack of effort is the only thing I will have a go at players for. There was no lack of effort on Saturday. The players are there due to mistakes made by the club. Having a go at them for our position is like shouting at a 3 year old for having bad teeth.

Apologies if it has already been posted elsewhere but this is an interesting article:

http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/the-long-read-blackburn-burnley-rivalry--enmity-that-runs-deeper-than-simple-geography

I actually laughed out loud at this bit:

"A skinheaded man, face contorted by anger, pokes his head through a small window from his mode of transport and screams: “Get a bath”."

It wasn't me, I was already in Blues Bar by the time the Dingle coaches came through. Got them on their way home though lol.

Gus Poyet - sounds intelligent, and has some clarity of expression in the media [unlike our current bloke ] has a good playing pedigree, [unlike our current bloke] did a decent job at Brighton with nothing special as a squad of players, [unlike our current bloke] - he has a bit of a point to prove after working at the serial car-crash in Sunderland [like lots of others].

I reckon he would come, havent heard he's got work anywhere else yet

Not reading this thread......just arrived back at home after my 5 day journey to go to the match.

If you were there the distressed faces after the match just said: " How did we lose that?"

NO WAY Bowyer should be losing his job after that. Other scenarios(no chances,no enthusiasm,Magpies score) YES but we are getting/playing much better this season. Key thing is for others to score apart from Rhodes.

Best player/MoM on Saturday was Heaton. And no yellow cards in a Derby match!! A joke.

I think billy Davies or Neil Warnock are realistic options. Davies would be more likely due to his past relationship with shaw at pne

I doubt Davies is likely at all as allegedly he and Shaw can't stand the sight of each other, and can hardly bear to be in the same room together.

It's all very well plucking names out of the hat and throwing them around but there doesn't seem to be any indication whatsoever that GB's job is under threat. I wonder if defeat at Leeds would change that? Anything other than a win should be enough in that respect really as the odd point here and there is not good enough for us in our current situation as I've been saying for the last month or so.

Eh?

Who says he should? In isolation it was a decent performance.. though we lost.

It is the fact we have won 2 games in 14 and our record througout 2015 is terrible.

He wouldn't be losing his job just because of that though would he but sometimes losing your fiercest derby tips the scales too far one way to come back. We followed the last derby defeat a few days later with another rank performance and the worry is it'll happen again.

Liverpool drew against Everton and didn't play that bad yet the axe didn't fall on Rogers just because of that.

In 2015 to date in just Championship games Bowyers win rate is 29.03% (9/31)

This season to date it is 15.38% (2/13)

We are going SOUTH and fast.

What may save us from relegation is that this league is poor, poor, poor quality so let's cling to the hope that we are the best of a bad bunch who will inhabit the lower league positions. It's a lottery and Bowyer is not rolling the dice.

But do not lose sight of the BIG picture.

No-one is really running the Club....until that change happens whoever is a new manager hasn't got a rats chance.

You are sadly quite right. We need a rat catcher for the vermin in Pune who are spreading disease.
