Unless of course the Premier League said - take your relegation, go away, don't come back for 10 years, don't even think about it - we know what took place at your club, take this as your punishment because if it comes out what took place; that you broke every rule under the sun, then we'll really go to town on you. That's the only logical explanation I can come up with as to why "treading water" would be the target.

Just a thought. Look at that, a conspiracy theory! At this time of day.

This is perfectly plausible Bob.

Many a post asks why oh why dont they sell or communicate...it makes no sense...

What if they simply cant sell?

Completely out of the question.

Good old fashioned self preservation.

If they realised so many rules were broken that new owners would certainly uncover.

I presume new owners would own all these details. Meeting minutes, financial docs.

When we hear about ex employees who wont talk due to NDA. Who are these agreements bound to? The football club or Venkys?

i.e. would new ownership potentially spark statements if the fear of certain legal action became unlikely?

The truth will always come out in the end.

It does. But the embargo wasn't in place when he signed Brown.

Let's not hide behind the FFP excuses for Bowyer again. He had no restrictions and couldn't get us top 6. as Venkys lose interest the likes of Hanley, Conway and anyone else with value will be sold and replaced with cheaper alternatives. Based on what we have seen, it takes a huge leap of faith to believe Bowyer will oversee all this downsizing and even tread water.

Its all what might be's at the moment though ain't it? How long has Rhodes been going now? 6 windows maybe..?

How many Pre-Bowyer players have actually been sold? Not many.

Portugeezers - Paid off

Etuhu - paid off

Murphy - paid off

King - Contract expired

Best - paid off

Rhodes - not yet sold

There will be lots of others who sat out their contracts, none that I can think of who we got a fee for...Although it is likely they didn't get bought because of the ludicrous deal they were on, it is a decent conspiracy theory :)

To be honest, if the target is just to continue treading water, then bowyer is suitable enough to remain I'd say..

Which just goes to further illustrate the chasm between the aspirations of the owners and those of the fans.

If we were to tread water in the Championship for years with Bowyer as Manager and Shaw as Chief Exec, how many supporters would be left------Tris, Birdy, Ewood Spark and Parsons?

That should never ever ever be the target. In fact that's a recipe for relegation. How do you set a target to "tread water" - 12th? 16th?

Maybe we'll get out of the transfer embargo, maybe we won't. When pushed at the Q&A Shaw said £5m would do it. When interrogated by Paxman in the Telegraph a few weeks ago he said he didn't know how many £'s would do it, at which point the interview ended as the next logical question was probably a bit tricky.

Again, at the Q&A, Shaw said that even if the embargo is removed don't expect major spending as we'd go straight back in it. £2m would be the tops - at which point Bowyer asked if he could have that in writing.

So we carry on as we are. Meandering, drifting along. There appears to be a lack of urgency, almost as though there is no pressure to succeed. I don't believe for a minute that the owners have made any such statement about being happy with things, just as I don't believe they watch every match on a feed. The money doesn't matter to them, just as the club's success doesn't matter to them. We just exist. For all we know Venky's have emigrated to Jupiter.

And yet if we were promoted they would get some of the money back - maybe all in time. But that would take a bit of time, a bit of thought, the need to engage brains and listen to people who care about the club. All too much hassle it would appear.

You, me and Mel Gibson, mate! Though I have less excuse, as it is early evening.

I had also settled on some kind of devil's pact with the football authorities. I even wondered if that is why key people like Jack Straw have gone so quiet. They know that to keep digging would only bring up an even more destructive vampire, dragon's egg or whatever.

I would be flabbergasted, if important rules had not been broken in pursuit of a few more watches in the pocket of a Barnet spiv and a Scottish crook. And wouldn't it be just like the FA to punish innocent fans, long after the real culprits have slithered away!

You leave Tris alone 47er, or I'll get him to dig up your past and nobody wants that!

If I told you that you'd own me too pal......

Gav, I'm not sure if this'll help or not but if he's still got those photos of you, Janette Krankie and that penguin in Vegas then I wouldn't worry too much. They're everywhere mate, a simple google search brings them up, along with my breakfast I must admit.
