Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 21, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted April 21, 2016 Shame that goal difference counts for nowt in La Liga. Oh yeah, it's head to head isn't it? Will be interesting to see how the league unfolds in Spain with the top 3, Real looked dead and buried a while back, but seem to have had a resurgence, Atletico are relentless under Simeone, and Barca, well, they're Barca!
Husky Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 A three horse race is as good as it gets. Don't really know how Barca imploded (before that last win they'd lost 4 la Liga games in a row - must have been a while since that happened). Has anyone looked at the French league recently?
LewisF Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Can't be doing with the French league tbh, relegation fights are alright and the fight for CL places but the race for the title is so one sided it's untrue
Al Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 What's right with them They hate Scumchester. That makes them OK in my opinion.

I look regularly as I'm a fan of lorient. Similar kind of club to rovers. Working class and not highly thought of. Every year they sell their best players (Koscielny, Gameiro, Ayew, Kone to name but a few of the recent ones) every year they look like they might get relegated but manage to find players from somewhere and remain mid table. This year they played PSG in the cup semi. They only lost 1-0. They are a clear example of how a club with limited resources and support can thrive if they all sing from the same hymn sheet. They lost Gourcuff as manager, appointed his deputy full time and are still in ligue 1.
Husky Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Is anyone up for the CL team with the most British outfield players?
speeeeeeedie Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 City - Real is poised well for the second leg. Real should have Ronaldo back for their home leg. It's far from a formality though. It will be a better game than tonight.

And yes, PSG is up about 30 points on 2nd place the last I looked. I was surprised they did not go further in the CL. --------------------------- Per Manchester City at Real Madrid: I remember how I believe Mourinho got a crucial tie with Barcelona as the Nous Camp when Barca looked totally invincible, he did that with Inter and maybe Chelsea both. I hope Man City somehow can do something like that as well. To penalties?
speeeeeeedie Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Atletico beat Bayern 1-0 last night. Bayern battered them in the second half but couldn't score. Atletico look like a better Leicester to me. They defend like nutters and have a quick lad (Griezmann) up front. I expect Bayern to progress. I can't see Atletico holding out in Munich. I thought that Arturo Vidal was the best player on the pitch. Arsenal missed a trick if they really did have the option to sign him.
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Atletico can play when they want to but know the best way of beating the top sides is to defend. I think they'll go all the way.

They are a joy to watch defending wise. They are extremely disciplined. However, Bayern had plenty of chances. Only the crossbar, some bad headers, and a Vidal scuff prevented them conceding.
Husky Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 First blood to Villarreal. On 92 minutes I shouted Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllll! Though Sevilla Liverpool will probably make for a better final. With Sevilla winning.
oldjamfan1 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 It must be odds on both euro finals being all Spanish affairs now eh?
Amo Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 It must be odds on both euro finals being all Spanish affairs now eh? Hope not. It takes the gloss off of a European final when the opponents are domestic rivals.... That, and we haven't done too well against Sevilla. Everyone was willing for Liverpool to win last night on the back of the Hillsborough inquest. Too bad. That Scouse gobsh*te McManaman said post-match that he "didn't think these [Villarreal] were anything special" and that Liverpool could've won 2 or 3-0 if they tried. Just sums up the arrogance of the Liverpool dominated punditry.

I liked when the other commentator was talking about Villareal's excellent home and defensive records and then said, "they'll fancy themselves tonight, even against Liverpool"
Amo Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Who's 'we' in this regard, sorry? I thought it was common knowledge that I'm a Villarreal fan, hence the username.
Oldgregg86 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Who's 'we' in this regard, sorry? English football fans who want all English teams to do well when representing our leagues
Stuart Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 English football fans who want all English teams to do well when representing our leaguesExcept the 'we' in this case is Spanish...Am'o has dual fanationality.
philipl Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 The four Spanish clubs are best placed to make the finals but I would be surprised if one doesn't slip up.
Husky Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 An Atletico equaliser - the best thing to happen to this game.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 3, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted May 3, 2016 Bayern go in the lead, then Atletico miss a pen? Good grief, 2 missed pens in one game?!
