That's what I mean. For the illogical lunes it's a very logical move, especially the full clear out. And can't see what else prompted it other than as you say, knowing who they want as a replacement. For me Moyes is the only recent change - Lambert has been out of work for ages now - but then with their timings you could well be right and Lambert it is!

As for every other decision they've made. I'm going to try staying positive and hope that they "kick on" having made their first good decision and go on a run of them.

Final comment of the night: I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at training when the new manager first comes in. Shocked doesn't begin to describe how the players will feel after the last 2+ years of easy street.

Whilst Moyes is damaged goods these days, I'm still not convinced he's damaged enough to drop into the Championship to a club under an embargo with crackpot owners. I imagine there will eventually be a PL vacancy available for him (isn't Monk rumoured to be in for the chop at Swansea soon?) and in the meantime he can do media work, etc. He won't be short of a few bob after recent payouts.

I certainly don't have any faith in the Rogueto persuade him.

Well I certainly did see that one coming. I was convinced that Mrs D would continue to support GB. I would like to than Gary for all that he did for the club. Things went wrong in the last 12 months but before then he saved us from relegation in his first season and stablised the football side of things. He just couldn't take that next step.

The fact that they got rid of the entire backroom staff suggests that Mrs D listened to her senior advisor who was here for a month and that they are very confident of getting whoever the new manager is going to be.

A few more reflections:

Something has massively changed. Bowyer is many things as a manager, but at survival he's pretty savvy. And the way he has been carrying on of late suggests that he thought he was untouchable. In fact it's been that way for a while. So, whatever has gone on behind the scenes from someone not in the know appears to have been a shock to Bowyer as much as the rest of us.

I do wonder if the decision is Moyes being sacked. Granted Lambert is odds on to get it, but there were no rumblings early on in the week, which is very interesting. Added to which results don't seem to have been a criteria for much round our way. Added to which in fairness to Bowyer he has had worst runs than the last few games (unbeaten in 4) and not been under pressure, so it seems a little baffling. The only difference now compared with other times with results etc. is that Moyes has suddenly been sacked. With Shaw's connection to him, it does to me seem a little coincidental that Bowyer finally goes when Moyes becomes available.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into things, but logically (if we ever do anything logically) I can't see anything else which would have sparked the decision. The crowd's been unhappier than it was at Brentford (although we weren't pleased), the results have been comparatively worse, and even a glut of decent managers available has happened before. Interesting that the change is now.

Well as soon as Moyes went,I was dreaming this would happen...then it did..BUT many a slip between cup and lip...and it is Venky's after all...I won't believe Moyes till it happens. Sing: Judan Ali's blue and white Army!

If you have 40+ goals worth of striking talent and finish 11pts off the playoffs, 22pts off automatic promotion, you've gone wrong somewhere. I also like how it took him 3/4 of the season to realize that Baptiste was a better centre-back than full-back, albeit it through an enforced change.

the teams that went up scored 90 goals. having a 40 goal strikeforce means nothing if there aren't many goals from elsewhere.

Nice avatar. Is that you inside a football stadium?

A bit gutted they've dispenced with goal keeping coach Keeley as that's one area that seemed to be stronger and Steele has definitely improved since he came. I was a big critic of them getting rid of Mimms & Robbo but we ended up with a decent pool of keepers who could all do a job when called upon.

Been getting in Ewood really early this season and have enjoyed watching them warm up. Seemed a very thorough coach if that was anything to go by and what a left foot he had.

How do you know this? Do you know someone who works for the club and sees things the average fan doesn't? Or are you just guessing? Did you also think Bowyer wouldn't be sacked because he was just there to keep us in the Championship and make a few quid profit on players?

Well done Gary for staying on the gravy train for so long, along the way you've stopped at boringsville, cliche town, easy street and imasimpleton, time for you to walk the rest of the way before arriving at the dole office, next stop appointapropermanager city

If they are touting a replacement by the Preston game and the fact all Bowyers staff are gone too they must have.some form of agreement in principle with some one. I'mm sorta fancying that Jockawahatsit. Although after listening to Sherwood and what he had to deal with at Villa perhaps he's not as bad as I was thinking. Dunno, some real exitemnet at last and a tip of the hat to Venky's for making a decision

Yup he went back over a week ago.

It is Diwali festival in India so the sacking of Bowyer will have been approved days ago and I suspect the next manager has also been chosen and left to advisors/Shelfie to tie up the contracts etc as the owners will be busy with Diwali.

Whilst it may not have been your intention, you are right to point out that Bowyer never managed to get the team as a whole contributing to the goals for column. We've been heavily reliant on Rhodes for all of his tenure and Gestede for a good portion of it too.

We haven't won a game that Rhodes hasn't scored in this season, which underlines that. Nothing wrong with focusing on a good striker to score goals, but the rest of the team have to contribute too, and Gary has never really been able to set the team up effectively to do that.

Have you got Bowyer mixed up with Kean? Sometimes I do wonder about people

Dont know much about Paul Lambert but him along with Alan Irvine should have far more experience and know how on the game of football than what Gary and his gang had so that should see an improvement on the pitch

Everything will hinge on the quality of player they bring into the club hopefully not your Brown/ Varney types.

Sadly I pretty much feel the same way now. The last few months especially have really tainted what had otherwise been an honest if not quite good enough performance as manager from GB. It was really disappointing to hear him sending messages to Pune in his interviews - after Kean that's something none of us want to hear again. The 3000% profit margins, increasing player values, young team, financial restrictions, embargo embargo embargo... despite what has been said about Gary not thinking he was going to be sacked, maybe he did genuinely feel under pressure and was saying this stuff out of desperation to keep his job.

It's worked as well, he seems to have managed to brainwash people that should know better.

Listening to a clip of one of the national radio stations that even bothered to give us a mention tonight and the response is:

" Gary Bowyers had a transfer embargo.............he's not been able to bring anybody in..........what is he supposed to do???!!!.....What are you supposed to deliver with those kind of resources."

Guest 2:

"Expectations have to be realistic................Gary Bowyer's had nothing to work with..... so what results do they expect.......... people get impatient, people's expectations are too high."

So I look these two up thinking they might be the usual Premier League only morons, but no, one is a Boro fan that used to work on The Football League show FFS, and the other is a lower league manager of Luton Town.

Are you kidding me?! Not been able to bring anyone in - other than 30 odd players, nothing to work with - other than two 20 goal a season strikers, a championship squad littered with internationals, some of the best facilities in the league to make use of. Expectations too high - what, to be in the top half of the table and perhaps within reach of a play-off spot.

Go shove it up your backsides you pair of clueless, ill informed numpties.

Thanks Kamy.

Left the rest to the 'it was my first day' / 'i didnt read the contract' MD? (takes champagne off ice)
