[Archived] Bowyer Sacked

Recommended Posts

GB took us backwards.

Backwards from a relegation fight to 2 top ten finishes and a complete overhaul of the squad so that the overpaid prima donnas and Portugeezers have been vanquished and replaced by players more suited to the Championship?

Yep, it's defo him that's the numb nuts. Stay classy PB :P

Simon Garner was interviewed on Radio Lancs earlier and said the decision to sack Bowyer was disgraceful. Unfortunately shows how out of touch one of our legends is with the fans and the current situation. He seemed to think keeping us in the championship is an achievement and blamed the embargo

Based on the so called 'football' served up he took us backwards.

I'm shocked, I honestly didn't expect him to be sacked anytime soon.

We've drifted along as team for a while now without any signs of real improvement. To me this seems like the right decision, maybe it could and should have been done earlier (at the end of last season would have been better?) Bowyer gave it is best shot at promotion in the time he's been in charge. Despite quite a lot of hostility towards him on here it hasn't been a bad regin as manager I don't think. He will be remembered more for saving us from what would have been a disastrous relegation to League One in a season of managerial merry-go-round his points whilst in caretaker charge were vital.

No doubt he's got an eye for a player but sadly he seems to fall short of being a manager capable of getting a team out of this division. It's been a very frustrating period seeing us continously just being short of getting into the play-offs especially last season when we had both Gestede and Rhodes. Hopefully a new manager, a good appointment can springboard us and get us that extra 10 or so points that we've been short I do think we've got a decent first-team when everyone's fit but the squad depth is lacking, hopefully a new manager will be able to pull a few more strings in the loan market and add to our squad.

But I have no hard feelings for Bowyer and his staff, he did okay to say this was his first managerial appointment. But he sadly proved not quite good enough and there was no other option but to get rid of him now whilst the season is still alive.

Nice guy who shouldn't have got the job in the first place. Proved not to quite have the necessary ability. Hope he gets a stab at league one or two and maybe in 5 years time he will have learnt to curb the smacked arse excuses

Comes as a shock though because it appeared for all intents and purposes that the club's administration had lost all pride and ambition

Time for a new man and potentially lots of egg on my already moomin-esque face if it gets worse...........can it get worse though because league 1 was inevitable under Bowyer?

If only Shaw and the Venky Mob could leave too.

Onwards and upwards....PIP PIP!

Though it is the right decision - and for once (providing someone is lined up) the timing is right with the international break - I think we should all seriously thank Gary for his effort. We were an absolute joke when he took over at risk of relegation - at least now we have a reasonable squad. He has made mistakes along the way - and possibly found wanting at times - but ultimately he leaves us in a better position than when he took over.

Technically we are back were he found us but the sentiment is correct

Last season there was no embargo and he had the two best strikers in the league and we were never close to promotion. It was the lack of ambition which got me. He was always happy with a point.

Lambert mail article

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3312499/Blackburn-sack-manager-Gary-Bowyer-former-Aston-Villa-Norwich-boss-Paul-Lambert-lined-replace-him.html

Plus he is favourite with the bookies. 11/10 odds

Looks like Lambert will be new manager from reading the Sun and Daily Mail articles

What do people think?

We're back in Souness territory. When he was appointed it was a bit meh! but christ on a bike he kicked arse.

Rovers 2nd most successful post war manager...............same again please!

That's a genuine quote. Lifted from the BBC Lancs Twitter page.

Losing your job is tough, but he wasn't up to it, sad as that may be. He'll get a good payout and won't be long out of a job, either. That's football.

Looked on in disbelief at some of the Moyes commentary, but can't help but be excited by that.

Well shocked and now intrigued as to who 'someone' will convincingly answer the kind of questions the list of managers are going to ask the worst set of Directors/Owners in World Football.

Will they have someone lined up? And will that someone have been told how they will get out of FFP and then spend a modest sum on re-building?

Will the new Manager notice we have not got one Right Full back?

Only happy about the tickets for PNE (still on sale to the stones) and the fact we will now see probably the final 'death-throes' of the Venkys. I hope they succeed and whatever they do I will still be purchasing Season-tickets,but for obvious reasons will not be holding my breath.

Up the Rovers!
