So it looks like Lambert/Irvine will officially join today. Massive coup for the club and a big statement of intent from the owners. I now genuinely believe that Venkys desperately want to see this club back in the prem, and I believe Lambert will get us there.

He wouldn't come in without assurances over having significant money to spend on new players and no pressure to sell our best players. Too far behind this season to mount a promotion push but next season we'll be a force.

Sports reporter Ian Abrahams says his sources tell him that Rovers will confirm Lambert and Irvine today.

No idea how credible that is, as I've never heard of him, but he does seem genuine.

Edit: Sorry, just realised Pete1981 already posted this.

Ian Abrahams alias the moose because of his very large head, is a talk sport reporter whose sources are often wrong. West ham fan to boot.

I don't agree that mathematically we're totally out of it yet but it would take a consistent run of victories to get us back in it. In some ways being out of the promotion race is no bad thing. There won't massive pressure immediately although given our league position turning draws into wins would be very welcome.

Looking at the team on current form we're definitely bottom third of the league although I think with a good management team in place we could be in the middle third of the division. As things stand at the moment we're not a promotion team. The midfield desperately lacks creativity , invention, pace and some goals. Indeed the inability to come up with an alternative goal threat from the rest of the team was one of Bowyer's major failings.

The self proclaimed Boss of Goss, Nixon, seems to have the inside track on this one, so if he says it's close then barring a last minute hiccup (Venkys time) then it's looking likely.

That poll may only be relevant for a few hours...

It looks like Nixon has a very good link back into BRFC so does a sun reporter whose info was dismissed by Kamy after the Brighton game

I wonder what the new regime or advisor's consist of

Mate in the industry says Nixon is well in with Lambert's camp.

Nicko will have the inside scoop on Rovers under Lambert.

There's a difference between sheer ineptitude in a sport you don't understand and following the corrupt schemes of others that you idiotically trust, and being wrong in your opinions of people, compared with having a business plan that even on paper is just going to show that you will definitely make year-on-year losses of rather large proportions.

Is it not feasible to believe their plan may have consisted of running Rovers as cheap as possible, minimising losses through sales and hoping that one year we'll do well anyway and get promoted? Their limited understanding of football lends credence to such a belief, even though the dismissal of Bowyer now suggests otherwise.

Although, it's entirely possible the above was and still is the plan. The advisor may have gone back to them and reported the Indian version of "holy @#/?, this is much worse than we thought", prompting an immediate decision. I certainly don't think anybody should be blamed for thinking the absolute worst of Venky's. They've given us no reason to assume anything else.

Hopefully Lambert is appointed today and we can move on as a united fanbase.
