If it is true about Lambert meeting up with Venkys you can't blame him with Rovers being held back in embargo. Am I correct in thinking Nixon said he believed the owners could get out of the embargo without selling?

Is so until Lambert has official confirmation surely it's in his own interest to delay.

When Bowyer was sacked I was over the moon but it's gone on too long now and I fear this may not be the three steps forward we all hoped.

I think people are underestimating just what a prestigious managerial job The Rovers actually is. Yes, we all think we have 'crackpot owners' and a 'rogue MD' etc etc but I guess that applies to a lot of other clubs these days as well to one degree or another. The facilities and the history of this football club alone are bettered by very few clubs at championship level, and and real leader would have enough belief in their own abilities to think that they could get us back up to the prem within 2 or 3 years.

Please don't give yourselves a heart attack about this over the weekend folks, it has never occurred to me that we would be announcing anything before Monday or Tuesday, whether it be Lambert or A.N. Other (and it is looking like Lambert). Ignore all the red top/SSN speculation, it will do your nut in.

If most of us had been offered this situation at 4.45pm last Saturday we would have gladly taken it, so pour yourselves a glass of something nice, sit back, and enjoy your weekend. COYB!!!

Not to mention we have a pretty decent team to build around. A solid goalkeeper, three useful centre backs, a good left sided defender, a solid if overstocked midfield and a 20+ goal a season striker up top. Our main weaknesses are right back and back-up to Rhodes, both of which would hopefully be addressed if we somehow got out of the embargo in January.

My gut feeling is that Lambert committed verbally earlier in the week, culminating in Bowyer's removal, but that he's now had other offers and is weighing them up before deciding. If he chooses another club there will still be decent options out there, but it's a stretch to expect Venky's to identify the right man once, let alone twice.

FFS there are some real drama queens on here. We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes so it is just as realistic to assume that there is an agreement in place but some minor details remain to be straightened out.

Until we get some information then it is best to release the brood pressure and think about something much less stressful.

Whats in it for the manager.

1) a large say in how the club is run.

2)virtually guaranteed a 3 year contract.

3) facilities better than most championship clubs.

4) to be fair venkys hae allowed managers to bring in players.

5) shaw said at the q&a that when out of the embargo that some money would be there for the right players.

6) a club with great history.

7) an opportunity to earn major media kudos by gaining promotion despite the owners..

8) Any kind of success will see attendances rise and fans return.
