[Archived] Official: Paul Lambert Appointed Blackburn Rovers Manager

I would rather have Lambert than Bowyer and so would the vast majority of others. That's all that needs to be said really.

Agreed. However, I just thought the stats were interesting, especially when I occasionally hear the misinformed 'he's doing no better than Bowyer' argument.

The last time that argument was made he probably wasn't doing much better than GB. Obviously the last few games have changed that dramatically, but considering GB only managed a paltry three wins it's almost a given Lambert would do better with more games. It'll be interesting to see if next season Lambert can break the 7th placed barrier that Bowyer was never able to surpass.

rather than waiting for days for approval from Venkys and missing out on targets.

The family are not short of flaws but I don't think this has ever been one of them. I was there when the club proposed the purchase of Duffy, Yakubu, Etuhu etc and all that was needed was a five minute phone call.

I think the only times in which there was a delay was when Rovers played in Hong-Kong in 2011, and when somebody wanted to buy up lots of Portuguese players.

What about all the star players they got rid of was you there too?

Venkys out

Venky's delays have generally been with managers rather than players. They were more than happy to snap up dozens of random Portuguese nobodies, but took so long to decide to sack Kean that he ended up resigning first! Berg took over a month to hire as well, which is insane. A month to hire Henning Berg? Jeez. The only reason Berg and Appleton were potted with haste was because Singh and Agnew/Shaw were involved in a childish boardroom tussle which nearly got the club relegated.

Crap players purchased, good players given the boot and fools tolerated for far too long. Not hard to see why we are where we are.

I like this man.

You feel we have a real manager for the first time since Allardyce, winning 2-0 and he was still fuming when things didn't come off tonight.

The players have a hard job under him but you feel they are starting to respond to it now and in summer he will worm out the ones that aren't. Expect to see the likes of Taylor shown the door.

Maybe the quick phone calls were a bit of a flaw though. Perhaps if they'd have made more of an in inquiry into where the money was going and who was actually spending it things may not have got so out of hand !

One thing is for sure though I think they can trust this manager to spend it on the right kind of players at long last.

Why put it in the public domain how much money you have to spend, it will only inflate the price of potential targets.

The naivety of some is staggering

Never said (at least I can't recall saying it) Lambert should say "exactly" how much he has to spend. Just that the situation should be clarified with Lambert/Venkys and he can confirm he's happy with what's available in the summer.

If you have any influence over the decision makers (I still don't know if you are genuine) then please make sure they are aware that at last they have a football manager in place and their best chance of being successful is to give him money to spend to enable us to make a strong challenge next season.

There is a better feel to the club now than at any time in the last five years. They can't blow this now by letting the catalyst for this walk away because they won't back him.

I agree there Tom that we need have a real manager since Allardyce.

really enjoyed Lambert Lambert's passion and desire on the touchline

I will second that.

The owners need to back Lambert's judgement all the way.

He will get us promote next season if he allowed to spend money and sign players like Danny Graham.

We need to get Graham and Gomez tied up before the season ends.

If we go into the summer with those two on-board it will help sell season tickets, attract better quality players to the club and let the manager concentrate on bringing in some quality to support the framework he has started building, rather than trying to bring in 10 players and gel them together.

I hope that is what the visit to India is about, getting plans in place now, rather than in June or July.

Brilliant interview from lambert...happy overall but picked out the bad points...a big difference to GB and happy with a point days

Another difference is that I doubt those watching the game were not thinking '25 minutes to go, can we hold on?'

I really hope so too. Opinion is divided on Graham but he's already done more than who we have now.

So you don't think Bowyer was/is a "real manager"? When you pledged your total support for him for months, if not years, what on earth were you thinking?

Perhaps he was thinking that it might be a good idea for supporters to back a manager who was likely to/was struggling. Sometimes known as being supportive, although I appreciate that this is a difficult concept for some.

How about instead of looking back in the past when not look forward?

Plus you seem to be looking for argument on this for some reason or I told you so. Not interested

Exactly

And the above post is a political answer and totally does not answer the question

No, asking a question of you that you won't answer when, once again, your posts express the opposite of what you have written previously. You are continually asking questions of others, it seems courteous to me that you respond as you expect others to do.

When can we expect the overdue apology for ruining the club?
