Plainly obvious to me after his last few words. It's a case of "back me or I walk". What worries me is he's still referring to the situation in terms of what 'might' happen.

Who knows what the situation is in terms of funding for next season. If it is indeed the case that Lambert has no idea what resources he's got to work with and won't know until he meets the owners then it means one of two things:

It either means that Lambert has taken this job on without seeking assurances or guarantees and has more likely taken the job on with the hope that he will be able to persuade the owners to spend, but with no promises, or that he has overestimated the quality of the squad before taking the job and has only now realised the scale of the rebuild required. If this is the case then Lambert has been at best extremely optimistic or very foolish to take on a job at a club like this with owners like these without knowing what he is going to be working with.

Alternatively it means Lambert has been given the job with the owners leading him to believe/promising him money, only for them to backtrack or throw that into doubt a few months down the line. If this is the case then the whole process of sacking Bowyer, appointing Lambert and lifting the embargo has been a complete waste of time, because if the limit of their ambitions is to continue to reduce costs and make a profit on players then keeping Bowyer would have achieved that. There's no point at all in bringing in a manager with lofty ambitions and firm principles if you aren't going to support him financially.

We've also heard mixed messages about where Lambert will be meeting the owners. Someone said there was a rumour they would be going to the Brentford game, someone said he met them in Switzerland before taking the job, whilst I have also heard he is due to go to India to see them. Some clarity from the local press would be welcome as to precisely when/where and who the manager is going to be meeting.

There's also a big question over exactly how much money is going to be needed to transform this squad into one capable of challenging for promotion. Of course some money needs to be spent, and the more the better our chances of bringing in the better players, but a limited budget doesn't necessarily mean promotion is mission impossible. Look at what Brighton, Burnley and Ipswich have done recently with little/no money. Even Sheffield Wednesday, whilst paying big wages, haven't exactly splashed the cash on transfer fees. A big spend doesn't guarantee anything. A transfer fund of £5 million would be a decent amount in comparison to many clubs in this league, Ipswich being one of them.

So if Lambert doesn't get as much as he would like that shouldn't mean he throws in the towel and walks off. Others just get on with it and do the best with the limited resources available to most Championship clubs.

What did I get my last post removed for?

The "rolling eyes" in my last post was simply a response to this issue YET again certainly not aimed at patrickvalery. Its as I said before any decent PR team (at least it can't be any worse than PAPR was) would clarify this situation once and for all. Someone needs to ask the question are you happy or unhappy with plans for the summer? Did you seek assurances before taking the job? Not saying Lambert should say exactly how much he has but the fans need an indication.

Lambert has brought mostly positivity but this is bringing uncertainty. Blackburn Rovers Football Club has had enough of that in the past few years.

As I recall, wasn't the £15-20 Million figure what was believed was needed rather than what we were definitely going to receive? I may have read it wrong, if that's the case then my apologies.

If we get the Rhodes money and a little more to go back into the team I'd be pleased enough! I never know what to expect with this lot!!

Will PL get the Rhodes cash plus a warchest or will someone just be sold to pay a bill with the Rhodes cash plugging the parachute payments gap

PL seemed a little frustrated in the interview and was non committal on players as he may have to work with them next season

Time will tell

remember Venky's assurances mean nothing

the 15 was what he said we would be spending and the other 5 was just added on his last proclamation.

Yes he latched on to that figure, but I think it did initially arise in the way K-Hod describes.

People cling to all sorts on here.

PL sounds more and more like he is giving an ultimatum. That last LET piece reads that way to me.

Venky's have the right managment team, I doubt we will ever get better under their ownership, to me it is a nobrainer they just have to gamble on him and invest, 100 mill if we go up so 20 mill does not seem a lot. The options of selling someone and using Rhodes money to plug the gap to me would indicate they have given up and might as well sell up (so why hire PL).

Floating is this leauge as PL says is a waste of time.

Lambert is a really strong character who is honest and forthright. I think the Indians have pretty much dealt with yes men since Allardyce and Williams. Anybody who stood up to them (Paul Hunt) has been quickly removed. They have to understand this is the last of last chance saloons for them and if Lambert walks our downward spiral will be speedy.

If they have they learnt anything at all from their disastrous tenure they will back him.

As always Venkys are the designers of their own down fall. Why bring in a proper respected management team, if you are not going to invest in the team. It makes no sense. If the they fail to back PL they loose even more credibility (I know!) further instability and the nightmare will continue. I have no doubt what so ever PL and the coaching staff will walk this summer if they are unable to improve the squad.

These are worrying times or rather, these are still worrying times. I agree with most of everyone else, its not at all clear that Venkys have given PL an unequivocal promise of support and he does appear to be sending out signals to them to back him financially.

I have no faith at all that they will, perhaps they thought a really good management team would attain their old ambitions of "borrowing" players, signing players for nothing and bringing on youth, all for massive profits in the transfer market.

After all, they've tried crap management teams and it hasn't worked!

I'M RACKING MY BRAINS TO SEE /FIND ANY MENTION OF THE 20 MILLION POUND BUDGET MENTIONED ON HERE.

I think someone has made it up.

Is it my imagination, or do we have a Burnley fan invading them Rovers stories?

One thing I do get from those comments is a shot from PL.. I reckon he was promised money, but is worried it won't happen. I reckon if Venkys don't live up to their promises we may see him leave.

“There’s no call on anybody yet until we know what’s going to happen.

“You can’t make a decision on anything until we know exactly where we’re going as a club.

“There’s only two scenarios. You either get automatic promotion or you get in the play-offs. End of. There’s nothing else. What do you want to do? Sit in mid-table and do this every year? I certainly don’t want to do that.
