rishtonrover Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 If you give a guy a pack of cards having removed all the aces and kings and swapped the number 10s into number 2s, with the 8 of hearts retired, keeping a few jacks and a one crummy number 9 in there then no matter how many times he shuffles the pack, he ain't getting pontoon! try telling that to brian clough

sambo Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Duffy is an arrogant tosspot. Gives it the big one every game but costs us points most weeks
LewisF Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Duffy is an arrogant tosspot. Gives it the big one every game but costs us points most weekssaved us more points than cost us he says.... I think he should keep his head down if he knows what's best, he's already opened the floodgates now though
Proudtobeblue&white Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 His response to saving the Preston goal, and today's abomination on Twitter do him no favours. If we were anywhere near the play offs, show arrogance. Sadly you should only spout about yourself when you've got something to shout about. He needs to wind his neck in. Actions speak louder than fecking twitter!

Compared to Hanley he's a complete liability, a mouthy one at that.

Stuart Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Players being on Twitter is a bad thing. It can only serve to put a wedge between them and the fans. I presume it used to happen in pubs and clubs after games many moons ago where a player might have got it both barrels from a fan, face to face. The difference now is that players are a lot thinner skinned and more entitled because of the huge gulf in wealth.

The difference now is that players are a lot thinner skinned and more entitled because of the huge gulf in wealth. Could argue they are actually thicker skinned. Openly let criticism bounce off them with a shrug or a sarcastic smiley. Sambo said he was blocked by Duffy for backing off Emile Heskey and Eidur Gudjohnsen. To be fair to Duffy in Heskey's case he probably expected him to trip over the ball or something. Maybe I'll be blocked for being unsympathetic about his testicles and telling him off over that smiley.
Backroom Tom Posted April 16, 2016 Backroom Posted April 16, 2016 Duffy won't care he'll be back on the lash and passing out in a taxi again tonight Rubber dinghy men the lot of them
47er Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Bang on Gav, that's exactly what I'd do, and I'd be very open with the press too. He is isn't he?
Mr. E Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Is this clown gone? Sure today broke the last straw?
jim mk2 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Lambert has been a huge disappointment to me - the problems off the field notwithstanding - and I'm beginning to wonder if his success at Norwich was more down to luck and of being at the right club at the right time than any skill or judgment on his part. He showed no sign of being able to turn Villa around (though he's not alone in that respect) and Rovers have made no significant progress that I can see since he arrived - in fact, we're now on the sort of slide in terms of results and form that led to the departure of Bowyer. I realise he's hamstrung by the quality of the players and lack of cash but he's been allowed to bring in players that presumably he fancies and a good manager wouldn't let his team serve up the kind of dross we've had to suffer over the past few months. Lambert gets 4/10 from me. Must do better.

Lambert can whinge and moan all he likes about what happened before he got here, and about what the plans may or may not be for next season, but sooner or later you've got to get on with it in the here and now and "wee with the willy you've got" as Sourness famously said. So far Lambert is making a complete pigs ear of it. He's not completely alone in that respect, what the hell are Irvine and Kelly telling the players as well?Simply not good enough.

Lambert gets 4/10 from me. Must do better. I must admit to having mixed feelings over Lambert. I took time to warm to him but the performances against Middlesbrough (home and away) and Oxford in particular suggested he was the right man for the job. The way he tried to overcome the sending off problems in games was also a plus in my book. However, I would agree that the overall progress has been limited in terms of points and general performances. The last two games have been particularly dreadful with the players looking decidedly uninterested and lacking in motivation. Clearly the lack of communication with the owners hasn't helped and I suspect that Lambert is finding what those who came before him found - that at this club the manager is expected to operate with literally both hands tied behind his back. Both Berg and Appleton have enjoyed success after leaving Ewood. Until the owners put a proper structure in place at Ewood to support the manager - in the same way John Williams and Tom Finn did - I suspect that no manager is going to be able to take this club forward, particularly if the owners expect them to continually shop in football's bargain basement. Having said that, I look at what Warnock has achieved at Rotherham with the same group of players that were floundering before he arrived, and you do start to wonder. I suspect that Lambert won't be here next season if money is not forthcoming and the whole process will start again. It really is depressing beyond words.
Backroom Tom Posted April 17, 2016 Backroom Posted April 17, 2016 Perfectly put Parson and sums up my views better than I could
Mike Graham Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 That is fair comment PB. I still support PL in the same way that GB needed time as well. He did appear to improve the work ethic although that seems to have gone down the pan recently. The issues are ownership, funding, the lack of quality players, and the lack of a management structure. We also have the added problems of fan apathy and the lack of corporate sponsorship. Can we blame PL for this.....no, but what we do have are all the elements that add together to result in a catastrophe; IE a multiple car crash. If I were PL I would be looking at my exit strategy now. Indeed I expect he has already done so. The only answer is funding and support from the V's; or we head for administration and reforming.
JBiz Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I was impressed with the Darwen end yesterday and their support for PL. couldn't hear the Hudds fans despite there being plenty of them, and winning! PBs post is on point, but it makes me think the best solution is more of that direct support for PL. almost like an ironic or stoic in the face of the beyond style movement. I know I know, we need to team to stir the fans but something needs to be done sharpish. Yesterday was as depressing overal,l as it gets.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 They say the darkest hour is just before dawn. Let's hope that is the case and things happen over the summer to create some excitement for the fans which is currently almost non existent. Have to say that I was very impressed with Huddersfield yesterday which just shows what can be achieved with a change of manager who knows how to get the best out his average players.
rigger Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 The result of todays old firm match could effect whether there is an opening for PL at Celtic !
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 The comparison with Rovers and you know who is getting embarrassing. They never ever " beat themselves", we seem to do it regularly. You've got to play well to beat them. With us you just need to turn up, get busy on the pitch and wait for the inevitable gift that comes along. Put that away and you're laughing. Our heads go down and we almost never come back from a losing situation. We're still feeling sorry for ourselves and looking for excuses not to win games. Look what Warnock has done at Rotherham. I suspect the players there aren't big time Charlie's ( apart from Best and the penny may have dropped with him ) and realise that contracts need to earned and not just given out. I'm as disappointed as several others on here. I would have thought the new management team ( and it is a team, there are three of them ) would have had more impact by now. Especially in terms of changing the " loser" mentality at the club. I worry that we won't be able to attract a manager with decent credentials if Lambert does walk out. At least we look like staying up, at the start if the season I would have taken that in a heartbeat. I was at a social event in Dingle land last night and Rovers are a laughing stock over there.
Stuart Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Celtic currently 2-1 down to Rangers in ET. Wonder if defeat will see them come in for Lambert?
rigger Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 There will be a real clamour for Dhalia to be given the boot now
