[Archived] Official: Paul Lambert Appointed Blackburn Rovers Manager

DE.

Nixon did mention Lambert as a replacement along was Jokanovic, Pearson and Holloway about 3 weeks before Bowyer was sacked.

Nixon did an article 15 mins after Bowyer was sacked saying Lambert was becoming Rovers manager.

He has had the inside track on some of Lambert's signings like Graham, Bennett, Ward.

Someone is deffo telling him this stuff.

Nixon knows nothing but he has you and Vinjay fooled Chaddy. It's just a pity you cause resentment by quoting him on here.

Johnson and Dunn are doing an excellent job with the Under-21's. I doubt either would want the manager's job although both have the coaching qualifications required.

Oh yes the qualifications that nobody ever seems to have an issue getting! Though of course he did have "Steve" helping him out. I've already asked the question has anyone ever failed them?

Dunn shouldn't even be coaching Darwen. Of course he would want the managers job and he probably thinks he would be successful. He's an egomaniac and fans are to blame for inflating it.

ALAN NIXON!

He's been out of the loop with Rovers for years. Now he's an embittered goon who just loves to stir the pot where Rovers are concerned. Quite why anyone still puts so much faith in what he says I've no idea. I think it was Tomphil who made the point, but when Freedman called him out on his rubbish while he was at Bolton, that was fantastic. Basically he made up (surprising, I know) a link about Rhodes to Bolton, Freedman poured cold water on it in his press conference and explained that it didn't help when journalists were inventing things and causing trouble.

Having said that life on here is so much easier since I put Vinjay on ignore. I am not prepared to do that with Chaddy as he does sometimes post some useful stuff, unlike Vinjay.

I'm sure Dunn would try his best and have the best intentions but it just won't work. We're in too much of a mess and he isn't anywhere near the type of character to do it. Go and cut his teeth the proper way like Flitty or Jansen if he wants to be a manager he's had enough brass out of this club in the past few years without contributing much back at all. Not always his fault but why should we be his experiment and pay for it just because he pretends to hate Burnley and fans sing his name.

No thanks, coach yes manager NO.

Never got "injured" whenever games against them were coming up did he? Nobody else find that a remarkable coincidence?

I think Johnno may go on to better things. I liked his attitude as a player. He'd always have a go and always put in a shift. If he was still playing today he'd be an absolute stand out amongst the group of wasters we've go now.

I'd prefer him to Dunny as a manager any day.

I always liked Johnson and was glad he had a decent career at Brum. I backed him for the U21's job when there were understandable cries of jobs for the boys and he seems to be doing ok. He's always seemed a good honest hardworking pro.

If it really came down to it I'd back him in the job but not over someone like Lambert.

Passing on a rumour i have heard. Lambert to go before end of season to be replaced by Irvine and Dunny permanently.

That's a stupid, stupid move of true. Dunny doesn't strike me as the managerial type - and his first stint was a disaster whilst Irvine's record as a manager is poor. Good coach bit poor no 1. Imo those two in charge under Venkeys would see our slow death speed up drastically.

Johnson? Dunn? Both are the sort of replacements that would see Rovers relegated next season. Instead of Jim's annual 'Rovers' relegation battle thread' he can start a 'Rovers have been relegated thread' in the summer before the season starts.

Don't care if you cut Johnson or Dunn open and they bleed blue and white, take off those rose-tinted glasses they would be a disaster.

It did come from a poster who was a bit miffed at Gaz's dismissal and a bit non impressed at PLs appointment if I remember rightly.

Just saying....... ;)

Johnno and Dunny seem to be the ideal partnership. Watching them during Under-21 matches they are constantly working together on the touchline and the players seem to respond to both. The fact both came through the ranks together, both played at the highest level and both have very successful careers behind them makes them the perfect coaches for the Under-21s and, of course, both have the necessary coaching qualifications. In time I think they would make an excellent management duo.

I'll ask again has ANYONE ever failed these qualifications? Surely someone must know? Johnson might be a good manager in the future who knows but his choice of assistant is hardly a great sign.

Ask the FA, they run the courses

If any of those mentioned are appointed we have returned to the flawed ideology that a former player will make a decent manager.

Irvine has had a hopeless managerial career. Dunn? Give me strength!

Johnson I'd be happy to have as an assistant as the next stage of his development.

The concern is that there are people out there who got very close to the club when Bowyer was here. I'm sure we've all seen the photos on Fb. The club was run extremely unprofessionally (League 2 standard) and that rubbed off on training regimes, player fitness and ultimately poor performance on the pitch. Lambert is struggling to change that but I bet there are plenty of people who really want to see Lambert fail and would much prefer someone 'local' like Dunn in charge.

Like I've said before Brockhall Babysitting Service.

How can anyone still support Bowyer when you hear about how easy his regime was?

There's probably people at the club who want Lambert to fail. Make everyone apply for their jobs again. Who knows if there's another Agnew type working away in the shadows to undermine things?

I don't know why a city supporter is so worked up over a Rovers legend. Watching the Under-21's there is no doubt that Johnno and Dunny work well together and the players have responded to them. Basically, that's what I want from coaches at my club. I accept that we can't attract the 'star' names that you can at City, but I'm for than happy for these two to be developing our young players for the moment and hopefully will continue to do so under Lambert in the future.
