I get the feeling the positive posters are the ones who haven't been to any matches recently. The team performances remind me of relegation form. 10 from 12 is an unbelievable total when taken in the context of the abysmal individual and collective performances on the pitch. Lambert's riding his luck big time because since his signing the only teams that we've beaten have been in the bottom 6 and a truer test is yet to come.

Please, please, give him some time and show some patience. He has not had a transfer window, he inherited what he has a team desperately short of pace but in the main honest footballers. He is doing a job and so far a bloody good job, but we need to give him some space even when we lose as is inevitable.

For me the first few games have shown the squad he has inherited isn't good enough but it is possible to get results.

I think it's going to take a full pre season to get them to the level of fitness he wants them at

I go to games. They aren't pleasing on the eye but they look so much more organised at the back and you don't get the feeling they can't see the game out. He isn't riding his luck in the slightest. Bad luck helped to prevent us beating Sheffield Wed.

This isn't his team, yet he has doubled our win ratio within 4 games...using exactly the same players. We've gone from at threat of relegation, to in hope of promotion - and we have yet to get into 2nd gear. The obvious chinks in our armour will be strengthened in January and I can't see anything to be negative about.

When I decided to break my Venkies exile and go to the pre season friendly against Rochdale I could have cried we were that poor. If you really wanted to see a team that had relegation written all over it, that was Rovers that night. We were beyond bad, we had nothing that a winning team needs. Worst of all we had nothing and we weren't even bothered we had nothing. Nobody seemed to care, nobody seemed to be saying " Come on, we can beat these ". We were spineless, supine, a footballing car crash waiting to happen.

I said to my son at the end - " I'm praying that there are three teams in our League worse than that lot, but I doubt that there are ".

We had a team full of average players who weren't even playing to their average abilities. They weren't even at a fitness level that a pro player should be at. The mentality of the players was obviously as weak as water, we'd no fighters. We accepted going behind with a sense of the inevitable. Rochdale's players looked much fitter and more mobile. We were a rudderless ship.

We've still got the average players and it'll take time to build our fitness levels up to acceptable levels. Maybe we won't be up to full fitness until next season. We're playing catch up at the moment. It's a balancing act, we can't try and catch up too fast fitness wise with games coming thick and fast. However keep winning games and the mentality will change. We'll go out expecting to win, not as we were expecting to lose.

We are no longer a rudderless ship.

I get what you're saying and that's definitely the case for me (my attendance these days is mainly in holiday time due to work & finances). I'm sure seeing in person makes you appreciate the scale of the task facing PL.

However

1. Good teams play badly and win. Bit of a cliche but an element of truth.

2. Bowyer massively rode his luck at times - Huddersfield should've been out of sight at ht for example when we played them.

3. This is Bowyer's squad he'd been left. And after just one window of having to sell the result is we're horribly unbalanced. No squad should be so lopsided after 1 transfer window. That we are shows the task facing PL.

4. Bowyer tried a new system that bombed then rightly reverted to 442 this season. What that does for preparation I don't know.

Point is despite having a good team (but not squad) we were only heading 1 way under bowyer. He was making us worse and when we look at the decline even putting the breaks on that - let alone getting so many points on the board is a hell of an achievemen.

Seen 3 of 4 games and we've won 3 of 4 because we've scored more goals, played well in parts and not so well in parts... It's that simple really.

It's the season to be jolly but to some Rovers fans it's the season to be kin miserable. Christ.

The players we have in general are better than some give credit for.

We have a decent squad and this will show now that we have a proper manager at the helm.

He has almost sorted the defence, has an already decent midfield. He just needs the right player to go alongside JR and bingo, a winning formula.

Monday v Forest is a tester of how far we have progressed in a short time.

I don't think we will be anywhere near as bad against Forest. It was a freakishly bad opening 15mins against Rotherham. Once the fans woke up in the 2nd half we looked very comfortable, if a bit unimaginative.

I want to see Koita come off the bench and given some minutes on the pitch. I honestly think there are goals in him and he'll certainly give the oppositions defence something to think about. We certainly lacked energy up top last match.

Lambert has already said he thinks Brown is better than Koita, so I wouldn't expect to see too much of the latter unless Brown gets injured.

I've no doubt he'll get a look in sooner rather than later. The lack of energy and hussle etc up top has really stood out.

Expect we'll see Koita again soon then. ;)

Haha, so true!

I do worry that some fans have an agenda to try to somehow validate Bowyer's achievements , such as they were, by putting a dampener on what is happening now. There's no harm in admitting you backed the wrong horse you know.

I have to add, I think there are some that just have to put a dampener on anything, full stop. Moanin minnies.

My gut feel is the bad start was due to our attitude at times under Bowyer. sometimes agai st lesser teams I felt as though we thought all we needed to do was show up. Also felt we exhibited this mentality for games that were not on the "normal" schedule, Fridays, Sunday lunchtimes etc. I have a feeling some of the Bowyer mentality has yet to be purged,my bet is some of these players might just be feeling a bit sorry for themselves, hard done by. Might take a bit for them to cope with "working" for a living.

I expect we will do much better come Monday.

Yep.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14138571.Boss_explains_why_Fode_Koita_has_fallen_behind_Chris_Brown_in_Blackburn_Rovers_pecking_order/

I’ve had a chat with Fode. He does some good things and he does some things that are maybe not at the level.

“But that’s normal for somebody coming into a new country.

“Chris has been around the block so many times and he knows the game. And, as I said on Saturday, he played a massive part for us.

“Whether he feels good because a new manager has come in, he’s probably best to answer that himself. But I know what I’m going to get from him.

“Fode is a little bit different because he’s an unknown and he’s still getting up to speed with things.

“He’s a terrific lad and he has got power and pace but I just think Chris, at the minute, is a little bit ahead of him.”
