Is big sam a @#/? manager?

Similar situation at Sunderland.

Brief bounce from new manager but then apparent the players just aint good enough for the level.

Should they sack Sam?

Or give time to bring in a few, ship a few out and put his stamp on his team...?

Then apply same Logic to PL

Crap players. Simples.

I get the feeling the positive posters are the ones who haven't been to any matches recently. The team performances remind me of relegation form. 10 from 12 is an unbelievable total when taken in the context of the abysmal individual and collective performances on the pitch. Lambert's riding his luck big time because since his signing the only teams that we've beaten have been in the bottom 6 and a truer test is yet to come.

I posted the above openly and honestly based on my own observations and was howled down for my trouble. Anybody care to make further comment with the benefit of twice as many matches?

Yes, he has a better win % than GB ever had with a crap squad

This is Lambert's team. He takes responsibility for player selection, the team formation, coaching and tactics. The buck stops with him.

This is Lambert's team selection. It's Bowyer's squad. Maybe the regime to get the players properly fit is too much for them, they did look knackered today. But, that would be GBs fault for leaving them that unfit. Maybe the players just aren't good enough. But that would bust the myth that GB can spot a player, as he spotted them all. Maybe PL is not as good we thought. But his track record would suggest otherwise. At least he has a track record to call upon.

Personally, I think it is a combination of the players not being fit enough, not being good enough and knowing if no one buys them they can sit on their contracts until we pay them off. Don't think there is the lack of bad eggs around that we have been lead to believe. Massive task for PL's team.

Agree you did and for good motives.

As others have said though others including Hughes had a poor start after an initial bounce. Think no different here although was hoping for more of a bounce than we got!

As I also said in replying last time we were going one way under bowyer and playing very badly to boot so in some respects we're no worse off. However I do believe Lambert will be better suited to fixing things.

There is definitely more to be fixed by Lambert that can be achieved in such a short time.

Yes losing to Bolton is a bit of a joke, although credit to them, they looked a million times better today than they did at Ewood.

Lambert will need to get some better players in before he can get the team playing how he wants. The signs are there, we are closing the opposition down all over the park. One major problem at the moment is when we win the ball in the final 3rd, we have no craft or guile to make a killer pass.

I guarantee he will have us promoted next season, a proper manager, something we should be grateful for after the last few years

You cant guarantee that. The best we can hope for is to be competitive. There are too many well funded teams with decent managers in this division to say promotion with confidence.

At least the Bowyer-Out mob are now waking up and realising the club has been destroyed from top to bottom and that a side assembled from scratch in a relatively short space of time, and for very little money, is in no way guaranteed to get promotion or even the top 6, even when a supposed 'proper' manager is installed.

Lamberts performance since coming to the club has been very average.Talk of 'fast attacking football' and 'not accepting mediocrity' is looking a bit hollow at the moment. It may be early days but the signs are not good. Today was just hoofball with very little imagination, I don't know what they do in training but practising passing to each other and trying to creating goalscoring opportunities are obviously not top of the agenda. We have gone backwards since Bowyer left as an attacking force. No goals from open play since Lambert arrived is a disgrace.

It's ok pressing the ball, and there were some encouraging signs in that respect, but you need to do something with it when you get it. Lambert strikes me as a very defensive coach who is going to rely on set-pieces and long punts to a big target man in order to get results. Fine if you can do it, but it looks pretty fecking awful when you can't.

We were dull, flat, passionless and very negative today. The players aren't the best but they are better than that showing today.

what utter shyte. this 'proper' manager is as bad, if not worse, than the last one. God help us when we play a good team if today is the standard of play we can look forward to. Let's hope it improves dramatically or else we'll be playing in League 1 next season.

A fair post blueboy tainted by the 'mob' comment - most people wanted bowyer out with good reason, it's time we see past this us and them nonsense surely?

The players need to take a long hard look at themselves. They have gone absent or not turned up in too many games - under different managers.

I actually thought Kiota did ok today. Certainly gave them problems aerially which disappeared when he came off. Hanley was decent, Fonz was ok. Apart from that to a man they were poor. We must have the slowest squad in the league.

The lad Clough for Bolton looked a very useful player. He would definitely improve our forward line.

There's a vocal minority who were left red-faced by Bowyer's sacking. They're desperate to get on the new guy's back at the first sign of trouble.

Lambert has only been in charge for 7 games and managed to eke out a better points tally than Bowyer. These aren't his players and it's going to take time for him to mould the team mentality, the squad and the playing style into his image.

Christ let him at least bring one player in before hanging him by his balls

One bad result and some 'fans' are declaring Lambert as bad or even worse than Bowyer. Perhaps these rubber dingy men would like a 'winner stays on' system where a manager has a job until they lose a game, then they get replaced by another who has the job until they lose.

I'm sorry for being rude, but this fickle, short term thinking and moaning annoys me.

On what grounds?

At this stage I'll go on his track record, not 7 games.

Bowyer got a hell of a lot of time on here, even longer in 'real life' as the crowd NEVER turned on him at Ewood, so if you don't mind I'll extend the same courtesy for this fella, well at least I won't be coming out with nonsense like he's 'worse than Bowyer' on the back of a half dozen matches, I know we are all hurting after today, but come on blueboy surely you aren't as blinkered as that!

He should be given time to fully implement his methods, time to bring in and bed in players and try and remove the stench of mediocrity that has engulfed the club for so long. If we are now writing off proven managers after 6 weeks, then god help us.

Didn't think Big Sam was that bad.

The paint in some of those corners was painted so thick that it's still wet. Hopefully it'll dry soon and they can all come out and we can all have a sensible discussion.

GB has assembled a mediocre, unfit team that accepts failure as no big thing. That mentality will take a while to turn round. He's only had 6 weeks so far. Those that can't adjust should rightly be shipped out. Remember, GB had 3 years and 5 windows, if PL is given that time, then I'd safely bet that we'll be in a better position than we're in now.

I always find him extreme in view but his pieces very well worded. I found it hard to disagree with his latest one.

I did however disagree with him on the game "was as bad as anything weve witnessed under Kean, Berg, Appleton, Eric Black or Bowyer" because we certainly did see far worse with better components.

Expectations have risen with the declaration of concrete aims- I'm not surprised to see the reaction today from the fans after. I certainly felt more dejected than I have for some time!

The difference is that I care far more now than I did just 2 months ago. Hence the annoyance.
