Really worried about where this reign is going. Think he really underestimated the task at hand, and the players aren't responding to whatever tactics he's trying to implement. Looks like we will have to limp to safety and hope we get it right next season.

He has two tasks at hand. First and foremost keep us up this season - probably achievable but not easily. We can only really expect to beat the teams currently below us, we're nowhere near good enough to beat anybody else, even at home. We may scrape a lucky win here or there, but most of our remaining points will come from the teams below us I fear.

Second task is obviously a huge rebuild in the summer, assuming Venky's keep Lambert in situ after what is shaping up to be a bitterly disappointing last half of the season to add to the bitterly disappointing first half.

I'd love to start seeing some sort of plan. God knows what it is right now - but it isn't working regardless.

Must say I don't see a plan tomorrow.

Been told the comparisons to Appleton's reign are unfair but it feels very similar.

The issue with those expectations is that we would expect that from Bowyer - in fact, people expected more from him, and rightly so. Bowyer had a 4 point gap over the drop zone, but now the ambition is simply to just stay up, when we should have been improving (at least a bit!).

I think we are too far off for next season to be anything too good, we are relying on a big overhaul of the playing squad and hoping these players react and adapt to whatever ideas Lambert has (I have no idea what they are currently as we aren't seeing them on the pitch).

I was firmly for Bowyer going, but I'm becoming increasingly concerned that there won't be a significant enough improvement. I assume Lambert is on big money, and I worry Venky's are going to regret their outlay as results continue to disappoint. Really hope something drastic happens in summer that turns us into a competent football team, but I don't see it currently.

12 games though? Does that mean nothing?! With the squad Bowyer had with King, Gestede, Judge and Cairney, I've no doubt in my mind Lambert would have done better with that.

I don't think Lambert should go, but I think his early rhetoric has been proven to be wildly overly optimistic. Where is the attacking football? Not since Appleton have we been so toothless. It's really concerning, and I just worry Norwich was his perfect bit (like Coyle at Burnley) but he can't replicate it anywhere else. I know he did okay at Colchester before, but nothing much.

I think Lambert probably would have done more yes, he would have relished the long ball to Gestede. Doubt players like Cairney would have been utilised much under him, ditto King, not his sort of player. Not sure where Judge would fit either.

Really hoping it improves, but think we are too far off to even consider a push next season. I hope the summer incomings/outgoings give me some sort of hope.

The immediate concern though is the need for wins as soon as possible. We are sleepwalking into a relegation fight.

Probably, but he has to do better with the team he has now, too, or we'll be rebuilding from League 1.

We've loads out of contract so either way there will be a rebuilding job necessary. We need to improve no doubt, the players and the manager giving them the instructions.

From 3 points away from playoffs to now 16 points away .....in ONE month.

Its just an incredible swing and just like in GB's time.

We all expected a lot more from Lambert/Irvine/Kelly - they were the 'dream team'

Turning into a nightmare at the moment. There's always one club who drops like a stone, and we seem to be doing that at the moment.

In the last 6 games, we have scored 1 goal and got 2 points.

Thankfully we scraped some lucky wins early on in his reign or else we'd be further in the mire.

Does Lambert have the stomach for a relegation scrap? At least he has some experience of it at Villa!

Just hope they don't get twitchy again myself, other may disagree

I wouldn't be overly surprised, but I think we are a few weeks off that yet.

A defeat vs Charlton could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for them potentially - if we lose to that rabble I won't be particularly upset should they pull the trigger, as they are truly diabolical.

There are worrying similarities between Mackay at Wigan and us at the moment though. I was delighted when PL got the job but I am very worried now, Think he could do a good job with a summer behind him, but we are looking nervously towards the drop zone at the moment.

Time to go buddy.

I admit I allowed myself to passively accept the appointment as positive, because a lot of people on here were acting like we had just gotten Guardiolas brother of something of the sort. I understand peoples desire to be positive and hopeful. But logic is also needed. And how getting the man who lead big and rich Villa to the bottom of the table was a fantastic appointment is beyond me.

Personally for me he has another game. If you can't beat a poor charlton then it should be goodbye.

Yes. He should clearly be able to rebuild the mediocrity that Bowyer assembled over three years in a dozen games.

Who would you bring in by the way that would be better able to do so? Our collective eggs are in the Lambert basket right now.

You can't make it up can you?

What did PL learn in Germany?

I thought the bundesliga was full of brilliant midfielders? The way we play does not necessitate anything other than a guy to lump it, and a guy to try and get on the end of it!

For years we've been saying we need a proper manager and one who will crack the whip and cut out the bessie mates act. Now we have one who is doing exactly that and our little darlings are kicking up a fuss. For me that shows you more about this crop of shirkers than Lambert.

He is the man for this job in my eyes no doubt...I just pray he gets time to do the required deep surgery. A team built in his stead playing with his attitude would be, at the very least, difficult to beat.
