I doubt it is true. I can't see why they'd clean out the coaching staff, bring in Lambert and then just leave. A new owner may have other managers in mind, and it would have be easier to shift Bowyer. £70m is a lot to write off and banks are involved in that debt.

There have been rumours of Venky's selling up for the last two and a half years. It's never come to anything.

If they were looking to sell, though, I could actually see the sense in hiring Lambert. They can market the club as already having an excellent manager and backroom team, rather than a coach and his mates running the club.

I've heard that the writing off of debt and subsequent removal from embargo was crucial in Lambert accepting the job.

Writing off the debt won't get the embargo lifted on it's own though seeing as it's based on yearly loses. It would however put the club on a sound footing to be sold. I think that maybe Lambert is their last throw of the dice and they might look to sell in the summer if we don't achieve the impossible.

They may even set another company up or something and transfer ownership to that. Maybe they even have a buyer lined up ?
