chor808 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hello All, I'm attending this game tonight at Wembley along with my family. I've been in two minds about this of course since Friday but as long as the trains are running on time with the predicted wind tonight we are going. Anyone else going tonight? It's going to be a strange occasion and I'm not sure what to expect. I heard Ian Wright saying it should been called off etc and I tend to agree as the supports reaction to a goal will be muted as best. However of course the French team want to play on as a symbol of defiance. Love to hear other people thoughts and from people that are going. I also heard the match sold out quickly after the events on Friday so it is a full house. When I go to Ewood or away games we very rarely get frisked or scanned, I guess we are all just soft targets.

Backroom DE. Posted November 17, 2015 Backroom Posted November 17, 2015 It's going to be a very strange game and a very strange atmosphere. Both Belgium/Spain and Germany/Holland have been called off due to security fears.
chor808 Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Well we are in. Frisked and bag checked.
chor808 Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Odd. Not filled up yet but plenty of french flags. Big cheers for the french team when they came out for the warm up.
Gav Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I'm working in London at the moment, bomb alert went off on my building today, false alarm but people are genuinely on edge. Thought about going tonight, not been since last game at Wembley, but only just finished work so I'll catch it on TV.
Amo Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Why do ITV have FOUR pundits for five seconds of analysis?
Backroom DE. Posted November 17, 2015 Backroom Posted November 17, 2015 Why do ITV have FOUR pundits for five seconds of analysis? Since they lost the majority of their football coverage they've probably got a lot of people under contract who aren't doing much otherwise!
chor808 Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Back home. It was a strange night. I'm glad we went but people where on edge most of the game. The match was really a non event but the singing of the French anthem and the solidarity shown was worth the trip. I've never been to the new Wembley before so I'm not sure if that is the normal volume but it did seem subdued. Kids seem to love it adults where all looking at each other suspiciously.

Well done for going. I watched the build up on TV and the singing of the French Anthem came across well. Didn't watch the whole game as it got too late here. Managed to see the first goal, cracking shot from a player I had never seen play before!
Norbert Rassragr Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I'm jealous of their national anthem. England's is rubbish.
AllRoverAsia Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 It does stir the blood that's for sure
Backroom Madon Posted November 18, 2015 Backroom Posted November 18, 2015 I went last night, had a nightmare as I parked my car in Watford and a train fell on the line between Wealdstone and Watford so didn't get home until this morning. Atmosphere was strange, like you say, everyone looking at each other suspiciously. I was very surprised on entrance as I didn't get searched at all, seemed to just be random checks which made me feel a little uneasy. Glad I went, Sterling is very frustrating and Dele Alli looks a real talent.

I was searched but my wife was not, at that point she complained and ask told them to search everyone. It did not feel like a ring of steel at all to me, not many visible police and almost non inside the ground. I'm sure there where undercover people in the groud that we would not know about. Security felt like a normal game to be honest.
joey_big_nose Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Just watched the extended highlights. Obviously the nature of the cicumstance means you can't judge too much on the game. However Alli looks very good. I think we are as good as anyone in Europe at the moment apart from the Spanish and Germans who will absolutely school us if we play them competitively.
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Some strike by Delle Ali. La Marseillaise is a belter as well.
