SergeiTheMeerKat Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The new manager may be able to use the loan market wisely, both in and out. Bowyer was ok with loans but fell down with how to best utilise them when he got them here. Hopefully Lambert could sign a few square pegs for square holes.
chaddyrovers Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 We need a striker with pace or target man type. A right back unless Lowe will be challenging Henley for the right back slot. if that's the case then a centre midfielder A winger with pace
RockinRover Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 We don't necessarily a goalscorer in the middle or even a playmaker. What we really need in the centre of the park is a leader.. a Garry Flitfcroft type character.
Ewooduknow Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 Tom Lawrence Controversial, but for me Lawrence is too inconsistent. Need consistancy if we are to do well in this league. TL much like rochina.
JBiz Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Number 1 priority for me is Tom Lawrence if possible. Leicester firing on all cylinders in the prem is likely to help our cause to get him cheap. TL has a lot of potential, I think in a deeper role in future, great feet, can drive a team on with his energy and at least some quality in front of goal in terms of goals and assists. Young and still plenty to improve on though, namely consistency but the same could be said for the whole team for the past 3 seasons bar Rhodes. Incidentally, has anyone seen anything else about the potential exit from embargo and FFP?
AJW Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I think Serge Gnabry could be heading back to Arsenal soon Wenger whingeing because he's not playing Pulis saying he's not good enough ... would definately bring pace to the team
Blue blood Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 A glue factory to sell Chris Brown to. Leicester to slip up and give us Lawrence for 50 pence (once out of the embargo). At least 1 proven striker who can get goals at this level if not 2. (Is that greedy or just unrealistic?) A right back. Chris Taylor to develop a first touch to go with his energy. Morph Guthre's passing and vision with Evan's energy and current grit to make a more complete cm. Get rid of those who're wasting a squad place like Petschi (sp) Williamson and Brown. Speak to Swansea and get Barrow back so we actually have some pace in the team. or someone else who is fast and not bobbins.
RevidgeBlue Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 1) Creative midfielder who can spot Rhodes' runs and accurately pick him out. 2) Extend Lawrence loan and/or bring in a.n. other striker who knows where the net is apart from Rhodes. 3) Offload deadwood like Brown and Delfouneso. 4) Thin the numbers out in the areas where we're over staffed, (13 midfielders, 3 keepers etc) and integrate any promising youngsters such as Tomlinson, O Sullivan, Mahoney, Lenihan into the first team squad.

I thought it could be telling that Lambert omitted all our academy products against Preston..
Backroom DE. Posted November 23, 2015 Backroom Posted November 23, 2015 Right back and striker essential. Henley not good enough, Rhodes our only consistent goalscorer. Back up at centre back and a creative midfielder would be nice, but we can get by with what we have until the summer at least. The quality of any incomings will obviously be dependent on if we are out of the embargo.
Pugg Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Looks like the middle of defence is ok. Just got Henry back on loan from West Ham.

"Deadwood like Delfuenso". What on earth did Bowyer see in him? Said as much after his first game. Useless. As for Brown, he's more injury prone than Dunny, without the talent! How much cash wasted every week in those two?
LDRover Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I think it's quite telling that Delfouneso only played 1 game under lambert at Villa before being shunted out on loan all over the place. Obviously doesn't rate him so I'd say his days here are numbered.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Guns. Lots of guns. Pfft thanks, and I'd almost managed to forget Mr Anderson.
Neal Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I think Serge Gnabry could be heading back to Arsenal soon Wenger whingeing because he's not playing Pulis saying he's not good enough ... would definately bring pace to the team Fair shout.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Think we could do with a bit of experience and strengthening in centre midfield personally. Wonder if someone like Leon Osman would be tempted. 34 now and struggling to get into Everton's first team, and at the 1-year contract extension stage there. Might be tempted if we offer him a 2 year deal. Know its got the whiff of Danny Murphy about it but they strike me as having different attitudes and of course we've got a good manager now. Great thing about Lambert in any case is his name will attract players, which did us a lot of good with Souness, Hughes and Allardyce.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 24, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted November 24, 2015 Osman is a model pro as well, proper grafter. Reckon we could get him on loan at the very least.
AJW Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Tony Hibbert for right back ?? ....again another experienced solid pro
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Osman is a model pro as well, proper grafter. Reckon we could get him on loan at the very least. He's had a good career but he could be a bit lightweight for this division. We could use some aggression in midfield also. I'd like somebody who can mix it up a bit if need be. Yes I know , it's a big ask. Tony Hibbert for right back ?? ....again another experienced solid pro Bit out of our league ? Good loan prospect though.
Pedro Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 If we weren't subject to the embargo in the summer, someone like Joey Barton would have been ideal.
joey_big_nose Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I doubt we will make any big cm signings. Maybe get a youngster in for cover, but imagine Lambo will be fine with Evans, Akpan and Guthrie. What we defo need are 2 strikers (one of them at least being a regular scorer) and a winger. Also a RB if Henry can't play there well. That's pretty much it imo.
Neal Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Tony Hibbert for right back ?? ....again another experienced solid pro He absolutely cracks me up. He's cack.
Backroom Tom Posted November 24, 2015 Backroom Posted November 24, 2015 I suggested Josh Murphy from Norwich last week Maybe I got the wrong one, his twin brother Jacob is banging them in for Coventry, pacey forward not sure if they signed after Lambert left or not
BlueMonday Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Someone mentioned a Gordon Cowans type player and I'd second that. Someone to pull the strings in midfield and calm things down would I believe create more attacking opportunities for the likes of Rhodes. It was my first game in a long while but at times on Saturday everything was a bit frantic in the middle of the park, with the ball up in the air more than on the deck. It needed a cool head to get hold of it and feed quality balls into danger areas and bring others into the game.
