yoda Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Mercer's got a success rate to rival Mystic Meg, for Christ's sake. Good job PL has got a 66% win rate so far

Backroom Mike E Posted November 28, 2015 Backroom Posted November 28, 2015 Wednesday had two shots on target and scored both. Well, 5. They hit the post in the build up to their first. I also recall at least 2 long shots that flew wide/high.
Backroom DE. Posted November 28, 2015 Backroom Posted November 28, 2015 Well, 5. They hit the post in the build up to their first. I also recall at least 2 long shots that flew wide/high. Beeb has them down at having 9 shots with 2 on target. Take it up with them
Peteb2014 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Henley showed his naivety for the 2nd forestieri should have been taken out on the touchline take the booking get the defence organised
Amo Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Mercer needs banning from match predictions. It's the kiss of death You probably weren't being serious but yes, this should be an official rule.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Well, 5. They hit the post in the build up to their first. I also recall at least 2 long shots that flew wide/high. Err Mike, "two long shots that flew wide/high " are by definition not on target. See me after please.
JBiz Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Straight out of bowyers negative book of mediocrity What? You mean like bringing a midfielder on to close game out as opposed to a forward? Or surrendering leads? Or making pointless time wasting 90th minute subs? I'm dissappinted we couldn't win but let's not kid ourselves into huge expectations based on nothing more than "we're Blackburn Rovers" as opposed to some actual realities like we need more quality.
Backroom Mike E Posted November 28, 2015 Backroom Posted November 28, 2015 Notwithstanding the poor defending, Hanley was at the the other end of the pitch clutching his leg at the time of their equaliser. Was there no foul on him? It looked suspicious to most of us in no2.
LDRover Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Thought the result was fair and defensive frailties will take time to iron out although we were unlucky to lose Hanley prior to the 2nd equaliser. No complaints about the effort all round but am concerned about the effect Rhodes will have in this system. He certainly grafted but was very little threat. Not really his fault as he is not physically strong or mobile enough to play up top on his own.

He got shorter when he jumped!
RevidgeBlue Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I thought it was a very poor Bowyer like performance in the second half today. Although we were very unlucky with their equaliser in that the ref didn't stop play for Hanley's injury the goal had been coming and was no less than we deserved. Lambert will know what he's up against now, it will take some time to drum the innate negativity out of the team and I've never seen the rest of the side so far away from Rhodes and him so isolated. First half, although we weren't brilliant was encouraging Imo. The tempo and desire was better and we looked much more willing to put (or leave) a foot in which may not win us many friends with the neutrals but might make us harder to beat. Lambert in the first half was like a rottweiler on the touchline and was nearer the pitch than the linesman. I can only presume he was warned as to his behaviour as second half he was more subdued and largely stuck to his technical area. From his gestures and mannerisms in the first half it looked like he wanted more movement off the Ball when we were in possession. The main downside for me was the attendance. It appears Lambert's appointment made very little difference to the home turnout. I was expecting 18 -19k including the 3.5k away support.

Backroom Mike E Posted November 28, 2015 Backroom Posted November 28, 2015 Despite the numbers not increasing much (I'd blame the downpour pre-match a little, mind), I think the fans deserve credit for chanting for longer and more often, with 'Paul Lambert's blue and white army' dominating. Well done BBE lower. Just a shame the result didn't match. Lambert will hopefully be using these games to eye up his wheeling and dealing in Jan.
Pedro Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Very tough game that. A very good point and fair result. Odd referee...saw some stuff that no other man on this planet would see and missed some obvious fouls. Notwithstanding the poor defending, Hanley was at the the other end of the pitch clutching his leg at the time of their equaliser. Was there no foul on him? It looked suspicious to most of us in no2. I think he kicked someone when shooting.
Doug Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Not too unhappy with the result or performance. Thought we pressed them really well in the first half and looked a fitter and quicker team than last time out. First fifteen mins of second half we seemed asleep and struggled with the pace they were playing at. Could've wrapped it up if Duffy or Rhodes had done better with their headers. I was concerned when we ended up with Taylor and Henley on our right as they are weak players. Still, the first half was enough to prove to me that things are going the right way. Nice to see different scorers. Not sure why we made the subs as Conway and Marshall had been very good, Rhodes off for Lawrence and Taylor for Guthrie would have been my choice. Didn't hear the attendance but there didn't seem many more Rovers than usual.
BlooBoy Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Still have bowyers mentality maybe. Not so sure Saxo ..
G Somerset Rover Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The last couple of games do seem to be a bit of a concern with regards to Rhodes. Isolated and barely a sniff on goal asides from his penalty. Be interesting to see what Lambert can do to get more out of him.

Hopefully half ST sales are strong, otherwise we won't see mush increase. We shouldn't underestimate just how decimated are support is, I presume every single person on the database will be contacted re a half ST?

des Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 was hoping for a win but a draw will do. Has others have said it will take time to change things for me next season we will be able to see what diffence the new manager and back room staff have made
Husky Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Just a shame the result didn't match. Lambert will hopefully be using these games to eye up his wheeling and dealing in Jan. That's the thing. He's not stupid - he'll soon enough find out who is gonna cut it and who won't. Meanwhile it's just about getting as many points as possible until he has the power to change a few things personnel wise. Hopefully he'll be able to bring in some pace from somewhere.............maybe someone like Josh King from Bournemouth?
chaddyrovers Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Guthrie coming on for Conway hardly showed that the manager was pushing for the third - strange substitution for me. we need a extra midfielder in the centre midfield area for me. we also should have bought on Lawrence with 15/20 mins to go for me. I thought we played well in some spells but Clearly it will take time for Lambert to change the mentality and to impose his style of play. I thought the players were shattered after 75/80 mins but this is understandable considering the extra fitness sessions they are doing and also longer training session thought a point was a fair point for both teams. still feel that Lambert needs 2 or 3 players in January
Mercer Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 We are one point closer to sixth place than we were before a ball was kicked ! Can't be unhappy with Lambert's start - 4 points from 2 difficult games (not played teams like Charlton, Huddersfied or Bristol City). Talking of Bristol City, we have to be looking to go there next week and win, and I think we will. Need to keep the newly found good feeling and optimism going. Onwards and upwards, in Lambert we trust.
