Henley given the vote of confidence. Let's hope he plays like a player with a rocket up his arse. Bit disappointing that Koita isn't on the bench as outside of Lawrence there are no game changers there.

Still feel we'll win this 2-1.

Mercer, when you back us to win, why is it always that we'll tonk the opposition? We've only done it a handful of times over the last few seasons.

Unless Koita starts scoring goals he's not really a game changer either. Brown can do the same stuff in terms of being a nuisance. Quite a few people have mentioned Koita's poor fitness levels, which might be what Lambert has noticed too.

Henley's putting in an audition for his spot today with Henry here. Let's hope it motivates him to produce a top performance.

OwlsTalk Match Day thread  ...you gotta laugh ...

Sheffield Wednesdays back in town again!

TODAYS OPPOSITES

Blackburn are a long established football club with a rich tradition. Like us, they have had their ups and downs. Recent history has been particularly cruel though. Despite being taken over by a wealthy Indian family and spending shed loads of money they were relegated from the Premier league in 2012.

In a desparate battle to stay up that season, the owners signed a new, unheard of goalkeeper. Known only as Rover, a name normally reserved for dogs, he came with a lifetime contract. Sensing an upturn in the clubs fortunes, the tormented but faithful fans snapped up the tickets for Rovers debut. To their wide eyed surprise, the new shot stopper turned out to be a chicken!

Of course, it was an unmitigated disaster. Anything more than a waist high ball had the new keeper flapping hopelessly. It soon became obvious that the team were doomed. Some suggested that they might even have conceded less by not bothering to play with a goalie at all. Blackburn were duly relegated having gained the lowest number of points in their entire existence.

Blackburn entered the following close season determined to rebuild. Millions in parachute payments would ensure that solid signings could be made for a swift return to the top flight. Late that June, it was announced that Rover would also be in charge of transfer activity and for an undisclosed fee had already sourced the previously unknown free kick specialist and winger, Ken Tucky.

Five minutes into their first game of the new season, Blackburn were awarded a penalty after a handball fowl. Game on! The crowd roared as Tucky limbered up to the spot to take the kick but then suddenly wandered off in the opposite direction, scratching at the ground and clucking with glee as he found a corn seed nestling effortlessly in the grass. Someone else would have to step up and take the nerve wracking twelve yard shot on goal. They did. They missed.

The fans were furious. The board were forced to hold an inquiry. It later turned out that Rover and Ken Tucky were in fact related. Accusations of nepotism flew thick and fast. Both had previously worked laying eggs on a Venkys factory farm in India and had no footballing experience whatsoever before being signed.

Blackburn soon came to the realisation that it would be a long, hard slog getting back out of the Championship and thats how we come to be playing them today.

You know what, that would be funny if it weren't so unfunny.

If a victory doesn't come then you accept that this is a work in progress and look forward to the next match. Expecting to win your home matches doesn't mean that you fly into a rage when a win doesn't come.

We as fans need to believe in the team, and that belief will come largely from home victories. It's time to forget the stability mantra and look upwards rather than sideways.

That doesn't really fit though does it... If you expect something and it doesn't come, you are unhappy.

Pl needs time to develop this team to take it forward. Expecting immediate returns is like expecting to win the lottery! Would be nice if it happens but I'm not judging PL till he has his own spin on proceedings, not expecting dynamite on his first home game.

Abbey - if GB was a terrible how on earth are we expecting promotion this season? Surely it will take decades to fix the issues mr "out of his depth" caused.

Ps great to see you posting occasionally.

I feel positive and confident with our new managerial set-up.

Put money on us last week to win and done same again today.

I look at our goal threat with Rhodes, Marshall, Conway and even Taylor, Owls are vastly overrated and they are missing a couple of key players today, and think why the hell shouldn't Rovers win well today.

You're always posting about not thinking in black and white, why can't you apply it to this situation?

You can be disappointed in a result but understand the reasons behind it. Expecting to win home matches should be natural for any club with any type of ambition.

I reckon he's left a few out/not on the bench for fitness reasons. They need to get in shape and get their fitness levels up. Looking forward to seeing this later. Really hope we win to get some momentum but wouldn't be unhappy with a draw.

After being inculcated that 'giving it a right good go' is the norm, it will take time before our players are reconditioned into having a winning mentality. I'd daresay that applies to the supporters as well.
