Amo Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Sanliurfaspor. They play in the Turkish second division. Will be interesting to see how he does there, as several fans have earmarked him as a future Rovers boss.
JHRover Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Quick google search. Urfaspor is short for Sanliurfaspor, based in the city of Sanliurfa/Urfa which is in South East Turkey, not far from the border with Syria! Sanliurfaspor play in the 2nd division and after 12 games are 16th out of 18 teams.

They do have a 6 year old 28,000 capacity stadium though.
FGS5635 Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Obviously a rovers legend, but he really doesnt strike me as management material. Hope Im wrong though
mhead Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I worked in Gaziantep not far from there....but Sanliurfa is in the Kurdish area as well I think, which is regarded as 'bandit' territory. A bit like managing Bunleh then!!
Backroom Madon Posted January 14, 2016 Backroom Posted January 14, 2016 http://uk.soccerway.com/teams/turkey/sanliurfaspor/9166/ Not very well by the looks of it.... last 5 games, P5 L4 D1
yoda Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Obviously not management material, maybe he will trap up at Oldham in a while
Amo Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I don't really know enough about that club's circumstances to gauge his performance. It could just be the wrong club at the wrong time. Like Dunny, however, Toogs never really struck me as management type.
onlyonejackwalker Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 They were 16th out of 18th. Sounds like they are still struggling. Get your boots on Tugay!
VinjayV4 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Tugay used to claim he couldn't speak English so how would he handle the English press? Did see something saying he wanted the Cardiff job at some point. If he does manage in England at some point wonder if he will be referred to fully as Tugay Kerimoglu.
Pedro Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Tugay used to claim he couldn't speak English so how would he handle the English press? Did see something saying he wanted the Cardiff job at some point. If he does manage in England at some point wonder if he will be referred to fully as Tugay Kerimoglu. I love the fact that he pretended not to understand and speak English.
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I love the fact he said he didn't like playing at Craven Cottage because it was a no-smoking stadium.
bazza Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Tugay used to claim he couldn't speak English so how would he handle the English press? Did see something saying he wanted the Cardiff job at some point. If he does manage in England at some point wonder if he will be referred to fully as Tugay Kerimoglu. I was told by someone who understands Turkish surnames that the "oglu" is equivalent to "Mac" in Scotland and "O'" in Ireland meaning "son of". So Tugay is the son of Kerim. The g is silent. So it's pronounced "olu" I presume the stress is on the i in Kerim so his name is pronounced Tooguy Kerimolu. I used to call him Kerimoglu stressing the og.
Backroom Mike E Posted January 14, 2016 Backroom Posted January 14, 2016 'Tugay, son of Kerim'. Could belong to a House in GameOfThrones.
oldjamfan1 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I love the fact that he pretended not to understand and speak English. He speaks English with a slight Scottish lilt, it is actually quite funny. He absolutely loves the Rovers. Or is it the Rothmans? One or t'other.
mhead Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Tugay was blind and deaf as well -never saw the Sub Board or heard the Ref's whistle telling him he was being subbed. He would be my Manager for the English version of St Pauli,Hamburg I need us to transmute into(see Sick Malaise over Ewood thread)
McClarky Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Tugay was blind and deaf as well -never saw the Sub Board or heard the Ref's whistle telling him he was being subbed. He would be my Manager for the English version of St Pauli,Hamburg I need us to transmute into(see Sick Malaise over Ewood thread) No player has ever taken longer to leave the field when we were ahead. Made an art form of miraculously being as far away as he could be and then having to shake everyone's hand on the way off. St Pauli's current manager is Ewald Lienen and he is a proper eccentric who is doing a great job.
