garnersfags Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Not sure if the Rotherham thread has become the Forest thread but think the game deserves its own home. Difficult one to call, this. We will slip up at some point if we continue to stutter, performance-wise, but we are also due a decent performance where Ben and Jordan find a bit of form so I'll optimistically forecast the latter scenario. We have Mr. Shearer in attendace this evening following his civic ceremony outside the Fox N Hounds so there should be a positive early atmosphere after his appearance before kick-off. Does anyone know if the Shearer Way opening ceremony is public? Seems very little about it online or in print. Rovers 3 - 1. Marshall, Rhodes, Duffy (yes, the wait is over). COYB!

philipl Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Pre-Lambert would be pretty apprehensive about this one and sigh with relief to get a draw. Now we know we have a manager who knows how to win. Odds slightly favour another ugly win.
arbitro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I think this will be the toughest match so far for Rovers under Paul Lambert. Forest are a strange side who on their day can comfortably beat any Championship club but equally could crash and burn. I see this as a tight affair and with Lambert saying he might freshen things up I can see a few changes. That said I hope he keeps the back four intact as this has been the bedrock of our recent run. I would expect to see Guthrie and Taylor in the starting eleven and possibly Henry if he is fit.
Mercer Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Freedman's mentality is not unlike Lambert's so this will be tough. I am going for a Rovers' win by the odd goal with Rhodes getting back on the score sheet. Onwards and upwards. In Lambert we trust.
Jim Royle Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Oh yes, the return of Mercer's fave 'Wee Dougie' Forgive the 'wee' smirk that accompanies another hot tip that goes astray ;-)
The_Expert Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Tough one to call. Going for a reality check for PL and the side, with a narrow reverse 0-1, but with some actual football on display this evening, for a change. Hope I'm wrong about the score COYB!
chaddyrovers Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Going for a 2 nil win. Rhodes and Marshall to score
oldjamfan1 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Forest away from the City Ground are no great shakes. This one could be more comfortable than we are expecting. If we do what we usually do under PL and score first, we could end up with a convincing 2 or 3 goal victory. Akpan needs to get on top of Lansbury early on, rattle him and he's a red card waiting to happen.
Hasta Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Forest are a strange side who on their day can comfortably beat any Championship club but equally could crash and burn Forest can beat anyone on their day quite comfortably? Comfortably? Apart from in their local derby against Derby, they haven't beat a side in the top 8 yet this season. To me, forest are now a lower level Championship team whose squad has steadily weakened over the last 2 years. Anyone with any aspirations in this league should be beating them at home. I'm not saying we will but will be disappointed if we can't.
Mr. E Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 If I was one of the players I would get goosebumps knowing Shearer is there. The biggest star in what now seems a fairytale, otherworldy era. Hopefully it should provide an extra kick in performances all around.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 We're still not playing the sort of football that leads me to think we'll beat teams regularly at home. Another Sheff Wed type game with a score draw type result for me. I hope I'm wrong though.
AdamRochina Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Big big test for our lads tonight, we normally stumble when so close to the playoffs, and whens the last time we won 3 on the spin .. I don't know if it's because of how we used to be under bowyer but I still feel so nervous and negative and going for a loss , hope I'm so wrong though
tomphil Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Can see Forest coming and sitting in looking to counter with us probably staying solid and trying to draw them out, just think it'll be one of those games. Early goal opens it up of course but honours even for me, interestingly we've yet to see what happens when the side under Lambert goes behind. Rovers 1 Forest 1
Backroom Tom Posted December 14, 2015 Backroom Posted December 14, 2015 Afraid the run ends tonight with a 2-1 loss, would take a scrappy 0-0 though a win and we are starting to dream! Imagine the team is the same, Lawrence and Rhodes were ineffective Friday but he doesn't want to use Koita and Brown didn't look a threat.
Pedro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Not a clue about this one but Monday nights were often notorious for us losing. 3 - 2 to someone.
chaddyrovers Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I reckon Guthrie, Taylor and Brown will play. Evans, Marshall and Lawrence to be on the bench
Bucksrover Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Team might be tired, attack looking a bit limp. If Lambert guides us to 3 points tonight he will have done really well.
AggyBlue Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I'll be more then happy with an uninspiring 1 - 0 win with another own goal.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 14, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted December 14, 2015 Think we might struggle tonight. Can't see past a bore draw in all honesty.
Neal Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Not feeling confident about this one. They don't really have much going forward but they seem to be pretty dangerous off set pieces. Wouldn't surprise me to put in a good performance but fail to win.
JHRover Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Too much respect being shown to Forest. We're above them in the league and are at home. As far as I'm concerned we should be confident of winning any such game, and need to in order to keep the upward momentum ahead of a much tougher game at Reading next week. Forest have picked up at the City Ground, but away from home they have played 10 and won 2, drawn 3 and lost 5.
J*B Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Above Forest in the league, at home, should be looking to win. Under Bowyer i'm very sure this would have been a go 1-0 up, 2-1 full time loss.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 My head says draw tonight...a win will be a magnificent return for Lambert and the club. Welcome back Al...where has 20 years gone!
