magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Dreadful. Pathetic performance. Didn't deserve anything from that. Two very poor sides. A top half finish would be an achievement. No quality at all in final third. Rhodes had little service but did nothing. Marshall put in a shift but the central midfield was non existent. Didn't look like scoring all game.
Waggy76 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Never bought into the 2 days rest syndrome more you play the better ! We got what we deserved nowt ! Koita , Akpan , Guthrie please please never wear the shirt again !
AllRoverAsia Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 That was a downer. PL now fully understands the task at hand - a TOTAL rebuild of the squad. TBH there is now not a single player I would be sorry to lose. I find it embarrassing to see pretend footballers like Akpan and boy Henley to name but 2 wearing our shirt. Guthries a totally spent force too. Marshall appalling and Conway and Rhodes dragged down to the level of those around them. Rhodes did plenty of pointless chasing around. What a waste of a striker to have to do the headless chicken routine. Did anyone put a decent cross in - compared to us Feeney FFS looked like the complete attacking winger.
Backroom DE. Posted December 28, 2015 Backroom Posted December 28, 2015 We have a good manager with a sh!t squad. He's done well overall, which is why expectations have risen and therefore the hysteria when we don't. Rebuilding required and plenty of dead wood to get rid of. Let's keep things in perspective, NEXT SEASON is when judgements should be made. Don't assume we're out of trouble this season. We could easily get dragged back into a relegation fight, especially if we start gifting the teams below us three points.
G Somerset Rover Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 As I said in the Lambert thread, he better show some honesty after that. Don't tell the fans different to what they saw with their own eyes.
garnersfags Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Can we please start (or continue) the debate on why we are playing worse under PL than under GB. I don't accept the different fitness routine or PL not knowing his best team as excuses. We dont keep the ball as well, and don't create as many (or any) chances. We are not getting anywhere near the best from our mediocre squad. I don't want PL out and I don't think GB should have stayed but Lambert has been unable to even match the level we achieved under GB. His style of play and motivational ability (so far) are disappointing. Rovers are hard to watch. This level of performance will continue to produce our lowest crowds since the 80's. Yes, yes, I know it's early days.....just stating the facts.....
Husky Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Groundhog Gaz has got a lot to answer for for this 3rd division team he's assembled. Onto the 2016-17 season we go. Meanwhile there's some cricket to watch.
Pedro Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Did we play with central midfielders and strikers today? They should give some serious thought to giving those Bolton lads their wages if they don't get paid.
Tardyrover Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 We have certainly gone backwards under the new manager. It's all about January, 95 percent of this team won't be playing for us in two years. We'll not be able to afford their wages in league 2!
Backroom DE. Posted December 28, 2015 Backroom Posted December 28, 2015 That was a downer. PL now fully understands the task at hand - a TOTAL rebuild of the squad. Guthries a totally spent force too. Marshall appalling and Conway and Rhodes dragged down to the level of those around them. Rhodes did plenty of pointless chasing around. What a waste of a striker to have to do the headless chicken routine. Did anyone put a decent cross in - compared to us Fenney FFS looked like the complete attacking winger. Hanley, Conway and Rhodes are the only players I would be remotely interested in keeping. I'd be happy to never see the others wearing our shirt again. Too many weak, gutless losers in this team who don't have the stomach for a fight. We have a team of followers, rather than leaders. It's a massive problem.
BrisRover Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Two ball playing central midfielders at the very least should be top priority. We are simply not a threat through the middle of the park
Riverside67 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Well again we did not turn up We were ponderous and predictable. We just do not look like scoring from open play. What a soft turn on Duffy for the goal Their goalie only had one save of note They had the better chances and in Zac clough the best player on the pitch Don't see us having moved forward at all since PL took over. An enormous amount needs to be done to keep us up. That was the bottom team we were playing................desperate times continue.
rigger Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I watched that game in a pub in Aberdeen surrounded by Jocks who know sh1t football when they see it. I am in agreement with them Goodwillie looks better than those who turned up today
Mike Graham Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Very very poor. Watched it on Sky with my Leeds in-laws and we were embarrassing at times. Hoof ball at its worse. Constantly 2nd to the ball. Poor turn out from Rovers, and very from those who went. Another day to forget. This team needs major surgery.
BlueMonday Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Don't assume we're out of trouble this season. We could easily get dragged back into a relegation fight, especially if we start gifting the teams below us three points. Not assuming anything DE, just maintaining the middle ground. Don't go over the top when we win, don't go into a nose dive when we loose. We have a poor squad that needs rebuilding, and assuming Venkys are going to finance it, I'm glad it's Lambert who will be doing the rebuilding.
dr who true blue Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 That's Bowyer's team, give Lambert time, this season is all about looking at the players, seeing where we are weak and also strong. apart from Rhodes and Olsson i would ship the lot of them out.
johnradfordsubbuteo Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Our lads taking a bit of time to adjust to the fashionable German training regime it would seem...
AllRoverAsia Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 pathetic performance, absolutely embarrassing. When Duffy looks good you know it's bad bad bad
Swanson Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Wow that was really really bad, we desperatly need some new players in january, 11 of them....
Mike Graham Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Increased attendances and fortress Ewood my ar$e.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I'll accept your apology Oh, here's the football genius. Go on then halfwit, where are your suggestions to how this team improves?'he's not good enough,he's not good enough'. Your solution would be to get Messi and Neymar in you ******* clown.
Backroom DE. Posted December 28, 2015 Backroom Posted December 28, 2015 Not assuming anything DE, just maintaining the middle ground. Don't go over the top when we win, don't go into a nose dive when we loose. We have a poor squad that needs rebuilding, and assuming Venkys are going to finance it, I'm glad it's Lambert who will be doing the rebuilding. I agree that we need rebuilding, but Lambert isn't going to be able to do all of it in January. He may only be able to bring in 2 or 3 players, and anyone we do bring in will need time to adjust to the team, training, and so on. He needs to do much better with the team we have, as poor as they are, or we're going to find ourselves right back in a relegation scrap. What's most concerning is that as time goes on we're looking less and less like scoring. Our main threat in Rhodes has become an anonymous nothing since Lambert came in, and we know the rest aren't going to chip in on anything close to a regular basis. Lambert needs to get far more out of the players he has, now, or we may end up rebuilding from League One. It may seem like an overreaction, but four games and no goals from any of our players is extremely worrying, and it's getting worse rather than better. January is going to be a huge month for us, and may well be the difference between mid table security or a relegation fight. There's no way we're getting close to the playoffs this season.
