Re our full back issues would Todd Kane be worth another go? I know he tailed off during his time with us but he's a bit older now (still a youngster though) and more experienced. He's on loan in Holland now which may have helped his development?

Not for me. He's no better than Henley.

Regarding Evans maybe that's why we gave him a new contract. Lambert doesn't rate him so this is a way to get a decent fee when he goes.

Sadly I think Akpan & Evans are our best central midfield combination at the moment , but as we know it's also the weakest area of our side and desperately needs some quality , the article doesn't mention any fee and I'm not up to date with Rangers finances ..(1 minute they are on their Arse with court cases looming next they are making cash bids for players ) .. But if we could make a profit on Evans then it's a good deal imo

I doubt that Rangers would pay us what we paid Hull for Evans even if they could.

Evans is one of those that will likely go somewhere else and have a half decent career, but it just never seems to happen for him and us. Every time he gets ahead of steam he breaks down with an injury and goes back to square one. If we can get decent money for him personally I'd take it and reinvest it in a guy who can put his foot on the ball and pass it.

He's just signed a new deal, surely that puts a move to Rangers out of the question. Also, which side of the divide are the Evans from in Belfast, surely that would have some away over whether there was any truth in this?

He plays for Northern Ireland - maybe it'd be different if it was a Northern Irish based player playing for the Republic, but playing for Northern Ireland suggests he's either a Protestant or is pretty indifferent to the whole thing. Perhaps it'd be different if it was someone like Shane Duffy, coming from Derry but opting to play for the Republic (as he has every right to do, but it would certainly irk some up there). I like to think Rangers are beyond all that now anyway, but some people there prefer to live in the past.

Good point, Rangers fans on the other hand are certainly not beyond that. Have you not seen their poppy parades and all that business, they're well and truly stuck in the past

Oh yeah, sadly the Old Firm is well and truly stuck in the past, and seems to revel in the bigotry and sectarianism that plagued Belfast for decades. The 'Billy Boys' songs, obsession with Orange culture and singing that odious 'Famine Song' are all examples of it. Some elements of Rangers fans do seem to want to hijack things like Remembrance Sunday in an attempt to push their own agendas, which sadly can be a bit of a stain on the majority of fans who, like others up and down the country, simply want to pay respects and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. That's for another topic though I guess!

Back on the football, I doubt Rangers would offer a great deal financially - as said above, they spent a long time offering small amounts for Scott Allan, only to be usurped by Celtic in the end.

I still can't understand why he ever went to Aston Villa.

Incidently, where is Paul pay-check Robinson these days?

Yeah, there isn't any transfer news.............

Burnley :P

Why not do a deal with Derby and getting Chris Martin in for Marcus Olsson + cash? Martin is not in Clements plan obviously.

Was discussing this last night but regardless if he is in Clements plans i think he would be out of our price range. He was very poor last night amd Derby fans do seem to get on his back a bit.
