Said this about Marcus Olsson 9 days ago and stick by my comment.

He has superb pace, but lacks a tackle, can't really head the ball and his crossing is poor at best.

I would have been okay with releasing him at the end of the season. So to find out we got circa £750,000 for him has left me over the moon.

If Derby want to take anymore of our League One quality squad players, they are more then welcome to.

We are well on our way to getting rid of the lard that has left us so poor the last few seasons.

With Olsson 'sold', and Tommy Spurr, Matthew Kilgallon, Nathan Delfouneso, Chris Brown, Lee Williamson, Chris Taylor and Sacha Petshi contracts expiring at the end of the season. Possibly some teams interested in Fodé Koita and Corry Evans. I don't see why the rebuilding of this team can't get going in full swing somewhat this month and in the Summer.

Now we are out of the embargo and not hampered by huge contracts on overrated players, and have a good quality manager in charge. We really have the opportunity to build a decent team again and start again.

All we have to do between now and summer is avoid relegation. Unless Lamberts plan is to sign all these ex Norwich players and copy the double promotion he did with them.

Olsson wasn't a bad left back at all, but nothing special either. He improved a lot during his time here and owes the club a debt for purchasing and developing him at a time when he was playing in the obscurity of Sweden's second division.

It seems clear he wasn't planning to hang around, so obviously getting £750k-£1m for him is good business.

Slightly peeved with his Derby County FC interview.

Kept repeating over and over "glad to be at a club that had ambition".

Without Rovers, he would never have come to the UK and never been given a chance. His career would have petered out in Scandinavia in the shadow of his brother.

Worth noting he pulled the same stunt at Halmdstads in refusing to sign a new contract. They didn't even get a fee for him.

Can we at least, try and sign a player/s perhaps 2 or 3 days before our next match? It seems we are always signing a player a day before, and then he sits on the bench having had no training with his New team mates

In fairness we haven't shown any ambition until very recently and I can't get my head around people being annoyed when a player actually sees a contract out. If they valued him, they would have tied him down to a longer contract. He's kept his half of the bargain, played consistently well and we paid him on time - everyone should be happy ☺

Olson was an ok player for us and I'm not bothered that he has gone. He had pace but he was always the worst of the brothers. I'm sure we can find someone better.

Evans on the other hand I think he is pretty good, I might be in a minority but I would keep him if we can. I don't think he is as bad as people make out.

Rovers dont have any ambition.

My take on Olsson is two years ago he was probably one of our worst players and everybody thought he would be out, then for some reason he got a 12 months contract and last season improved dramatically and was one of our best players, and got himself a 12 months extension,on his contract, but this season I think he's gone backwards way again, and the few games he's played under Lambert,he seems to let the opposing winger inside him,and has led to them scoring,I think we might have offered him another 12 month contract, but no longer, and when he's got wind of Derby, with a three and a half year contract,it's a no brainer, and with him out of contract in the summer, you just have to get the best deal, which I think we have, now it's up to Lambert to find another decent L/B besides the midfielder and striker and any others we might need, because I think Lawrence won't be renewing his loan,Koite probably away, should be interesting next few days....

Whilst it's decent money for a player who was out of contract in the summer, we are weaker without him. Hopefully Lambert is able to bring in a replacement who can take the place of Spurr, because for my money he's a bang average player. Given it's been on the agenda since he walked in the door, you'd like to think Lambert will have a target or two lined up.

Wasted all his energy maniacally chewing gum and gazing into the Sky cameras whilst lining up in the tunnel pre match - Mr Big !

Seen him in a couple of recent Derby matches and those legs have gone, gone, gone. He just can't get back if he's caught up field when Derby lose possession - embarrassing.

Well that is a shame , thought he could have added a bit more experience to our (ward apart) relatively young back line

I maintain that if Lambert is to get us to where we need to be then a massive player overhaul is needed to improve the mindset of and push forward, even our slightly better players are not exempt from that. This squad is stuck in a rut and have proven to us all that they're not up to the challenge, not a single one of them are indispensable. Not in the slightest bother about Markus Olsson leaving because he's been part of a squad which has underperformed and not delivered so ultimately... Good riddance.

I suppose in an ideal world the first players out are the worse I.e Williamson Delfounso Brown etc who just arn't good enough for the first team , And you replace them ones with superior to what IS in the first team and then they drop to the bench that way the first 11 and the bench become stronger..

Warnock is still a better defender than Marcus Olsson.

Not now Stuart. His legs have absolutely gone and like others have said, he's a liability now. He always used to defend high up the pitch and be left one on one but he had the pace to dig himself out of a hole. There's far better options out there and we need to steer clear of aging fullbacks.

Good money for an average player out of contract.

If we get a decent offer for any of them I wouldn't lose sleep over them going.

This should buy us some wiggle room to bring someone in.

Totally with you on that. I've no real love for any of them and we should look to do better in every single position. I respect the graft a few do though.
