Fode is a shame but always seemed to be heading this way.

Rhodes is interesting as to who will make the call, when it comes to that amount of money I would imagine the call the sell or keep comes from above likes it has in the past with Rhodes and the sale of Cairney In summer.

The call should be Lamberts and his alone. If they block it what they are in fact saying is they know more about creating a football team than a man who has spent his life in the game.

If he was sold a couple of exciting replacements would have to be lined up straight away.

Not a problem moving Koita on. No need keeping players that aren't going to do anything here, and to get 200k for a player we brought in during our embargo then it's pretty good business on the face of it.

Can't see Rhodes going. We get this story every transfer window, and several a times during each of them too! Last week it was all about Ross McCormack with Boro and this week it's back to Rhodes. They should concentrate on getting promoted rather than incessantly pestering other teams players.

It's what every club in the land does. We do it as well.

As is pretty obvious I'm not Rhodes greatest fan but I'd be uneasy about selling him at this point in the season, certainly for the £9 million on offer. We're in the middle of a relegation battle and we're finding goals hard to come by. I'd like to give the Graham- Rhodes combination more time to see if they gell. In the past Rhodes has found it hard to fit in with any other partner so let's hope this one works out.

If Lambert does decide to sell I'd expect him to have all the money to spend. That'd probably get you 3 or 4 top quality championship players. I'd again be a bit concerned about bringing in so many new players all at one go but if the existing playing staff won't perform we'll have to get players who will.

Hang on, you haven't heard of Gaston Ramirez? The guy was a big deal. Hasn't fulfilled potential

Yep, but I'm not saying that though am I, and also doesn't mean I have to like it even if every other club does it.

If I ever champion Lambert Out on here, can someone remind me this is a man that got 200k profit on Kiota and 750k for Olsson? That'll buy him a few games. January is mental.

James Husband, Luke Chambers, Oliver Norwood and Tom Bradshaw in summer please, Paul. I'll even let you sign Graham if you do that.

So, Fode on the verge of leaving. The guy has some talent there but not consistent enough. We need to have better quality than him if we are to push for promotion next season.

We are facing a scenario where we will have NO strikers in the summer. Delfouneso, Brown, Jackson all out of contract, Graham's loan will end, and Rhodes will be sold. I suspect Graham has already agreed to join us permanently and it will be rubber stamped in the summer but that still leaves a big rebuilding job up top (and it's badly needed!).

I don't think we'll sell Rhodes in January. He will, however, be sold in the summer without a doubt. It's time the guy had a crack at the prem.

thought Lambert said, he was given assurances that he is in control of all football related matters?

Selling Rhodes is just madness. I can't believe anyone would even think about it.

There was some premier league manager talking this weekend and I can't remember who but he commented on one of his players something like 'he is a goal scorer and every team needs one and there are very few around'. Seems like common sense to me.

Just looked at this season and removed his goals, that removes 8 points which leaves us where? Bottom three just above Bolton.

We don't get the money, they are not going to walk round and hand to the season ticket holders at half time. We have no idea where the money would go, agents, Venkys, other clubs share of it. It's not all going to go to building a new team. Then we have to find someone to replace him, oh and guess what they are not cheap unless you are very very lucky.

Plus I'd have to remove his poster from my 6 year olds room which would mean tears.

A £9 million sale of Rhodes at this juncture makes zero football or financial sense.

Lets remember that we paid £8 million for him and that he still has 3.5 years remaining on his contract. Huddersfield are entitled to 25% of any profit. So sell him now and it puts us in even greater danger of relegation with a measly £750,000 profit to show for his 80 odd Championship goals in 3.5 seasons.

That's simply not a good enough offer. And I would hope the board would veto such a move regardless of the manager's opinion. Sometimes the board has to overrule the manager if a decision isn't in the club's financial interests. Losing our prized asset for less profit than we've just made on Olsson and Koita is inconceivable, and sometimes a manager has to accept that even if he wants to cash in on a player, if the bids don't reach a worthwhile level then the club can't just take whatever is offered.

I've no problem if Lambert is looking to cash in on Rhodes and use the money to rebuild, but that has to be done in the summer and ONLY if the money brought in is at a sufficient level to justify letting him go. Losing him for £750,000 profit would be a catastrophe for this club. We need to be looking at £12 million guaranteed up front so that we get a good £3 million profit on what we paid for him.

Middlesbrough are playing games, just like they did last summer and like they have all January with Ross McCormack to the extent that he's now kicking up a fuss at Fulham to try and get a transfer.

Our Championship survival is far more important than £750,000 or satisfying Middlesbrough's craving to spend big money beyond FFP allowances just for the sake of it.

Lambert has enough to sort out in replacing Olsson, Lawrence and sorting out midfield before offloading the only player we have who can put the ball in the net.

So what are you saying?

I'm saying what I said in my first post - that Boro 'should' focus their efforts on the football pitch.

Again, not saying that every club doesn't do the whole constant badgering to sign a player, but my opinion is that I don't like that side of things as it distracts the player and disrupts the team that the player is playing for. It's embarrassing IMO, in the same way I found our pursuit of Robbie Savage embarrassing that it ended up with him throwing his toys out the pram to get the move away from Brum.

Just to reiterate, I understand that this happens with every club generally but I (and this is just my opinion, cos the whole message board thing runs on opinions) don't have to like it.

Hope that clears things up fella.

Koita going for over 200k is a good deal. I have no idea how we got 750k for Olsson but once again it is a good deal! Things are slowly shaping up.

I wouldn't see it as a huge lost if Evans go. He is the type of player who will look very good in the Scottish League. I like Evans I think he could be an outstanding player for us but for one reason or another it hasn't clicked. Either we give him a shot to really make that position is own or sale him on.

In other news we all know how incompetent Derek Shaw is, but having spoken to a friend of mine who is Preston fan, they mainly blamed him for the downfall of Preston due to the over spending and lack of control on the finance. He seemed to believe he was a Millionaire and acting like the owner of the club until enough was enough he left the club.

Husband, Norwood and Bradshaw would be very good signings for us.

Preston and Reading are being linked with Bradshaw and I would be gutted if we let him go to potential rival.

We are lacking pace up front and I think this guy would give us what we are lacking.

You do seem determined to sell Rhodes though.

At 9m it's a no brainer "no deal" for me. Can't see that it's a "big decision" for Lambert at all. Wouldn't even consider an offer of less than 15m given the state of the rest of our strikeforce. Plus we'd presumably get more for him in summer.

Of course its a big decision cos with 9 million pounds you could bring in 4 or 5 quality players to improve the squad.

Im not determined to sell Rhodes but see both sides of the argument
