As much as I'd like us to sign Watt, he's already played for Cardiff and Charlton this season and unless the rules have suddenly changed I didn't think a player could play for more than 2 different clubs in a season. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

I'm sure Shelfy will fully understand the transfer regulations as he did for Berg's contract........

Isnt it you cant have 2 perm transfers during 1 season?

Cardiff was a loan deal during the loan window wasnt it?

Has he actually turned out for Charlton, Cardiff are also a different association to the FA so maybe that is the catch

FIFA regulation

3. Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.

It's reaching the mind numbingly boring stage with Rhodes now. I used to get annoyed with the made up stories from supposed reputable news companies, but after 3 years of it the only annoying part now is that so many people take it as gospel and it spreads like wildfire on twitter, destabilising Rovers and Rhodes. I feel sorry for Rhodes as he's had to deal with ridiculous and usually unfounded speculation week after week every transfer window and he just gets on with it and doesn't let it stop him.

So far this January he's been off to Middlesbrough, Swansea, West Ham and now Newcastle, yet none have made bids and the window shuts in 4 days time.

The 'catch' is that says three clubs, not two.

"It is stated that Blackburn have no desire to sell the 25-year-old, but they might consider accepting a huge offer if the Magpies submit one later this month."

Bloody hell, how much later?

But it also says you can only play for 2

I suspect a loan does not mean a change of registration and he has been registered only with Charlton this season.

Part of the reg refers to loans, he must be clear if we are pursuing it though

Ahh, fair enough, sorry. I stopped reading after it said you could be at three clubs lol. The rest looked like the usual rambling official gibberish at a glance.

It's a pretty ridiculous rule anyway if you ask me. All it does is get in the way of youth players being loaned out for experience. I can see why you can't play for say, five clubs in a season, but three doesn't seem like much of an ask to me.

How sure are you that it isn't his agent trying to stir up interest?

That Newcastle rumour seems to have come from HITC. Not a site to be trusted, they have had Rhodes sold every transfer window in the last 18 months.... total Twonks.
