[Archived] Transfer Window - January 2016

How sure are you that it isn't his agent trying to stir up interest?

This window it could be.

Though this has been going on now since the summer of 2013, and Rhodes agreed a new deal in the summer of 2014. So I'd be very surprised if the same agent who got him signed up until 2019 eighteen months ago was responsible for the relentless stories that rarely come to anything.

Rhodes kicked up a bit of a fuss last summer but stopped short of pushing for a move and demanding a transfer when very real concrete interest was there for all to see from Middlesbrough. Now we're back to the stage where interest doesn't even seem to have reached a bid stage so it wouldn't make much sense to me for Rhodes to be getting his agent to put his name out there. It would have made a lot more sense to go the extra mile last summer when there was real interest in him.

We've got quite a collection of clubs building up now though. Since 2013 he's been targeted/bid for by Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hull, Bolton, Wigan, Everton, Stoke, Swansea, Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich, Derby, Forest, West Ham, QPR, Celtic and Crystal Palace. I'm sure there are others I've missed out too. Yet the furthest it has ever reached has been two rejected bids from Hull and Middlesbrough.

I could be a journalist.

I think both the knock-back from Rovers regarding the bid from Boro, plus the change of manager, and subsequent drop in goalscoring perhaps may have unsettled him. The fact he's signed until 2019 makes no odds if there is a PL exit clause, or a minimum fee threshold.

I think the lack of bids is because we have over-priced him, based mainly on over-paying when we signed him.

Players who score goals consistently will always be linked to better placed clubs, and you can guarantee they have all watched him too. I think it's getting close to last chance saloon for Jordan to be transferred to a PL club, and that is why it really wouldn't surprise me if his agent was trying to drum up a bit of interest. For me, Id ideally keep him till the summer and then see if there are any bids, and see if that money could be used to strengthen 3 or 4 places in the first 11.

About as much as I believe it was appropriate for him to bring his young son into a Sky Presser because he was afraid of being asked questions about being sacked.

The point remains though. Under Bowyer quite a lot of talent went out who went on to be a success and it does make you wonder.

Like who? It's makes you wonder that weirdly for some people Bowyer is held in the same respect as Kean. Some of the drivel spoken is very poor against a manager that helped us during our darkest hour.

Gestede was on loan for a month before signing permanent. In his first games wasnt good but He was very good at Leeds away when he scored the header.

Rudy's 'loan' was just to get him in the door. Had he broken his leg on day one we would have signed him anyway the way the deal was structured.

Hoping we can get Watt over the line today. I didn't know much st all about him before yesterday.

But Iv been asking around and it turns out this could be a genius bit of business. This guy is really highly regarded and the way it's been structured (loan with an agreed fee at the end) it is an absolute no brainer.

Most of the championship would happily have this guy. Cardiff and Wolves still do but it would appear, we've been very shrewd. Edge of your seat typa player, brilliant technically, makes stuff happen for the team.

I'll have to see it for myself but based on the opinions Iv had. An excellent signing!!

Bit like DJ Campbell's deal then.

Exactly like that. Again the manager was operating at a club trying to avoid going into an embargo and brought the failure Campbell in.

The reason for defending Bowyer against such odd statements is I am inclined to believe that people will be calling for Lambert to go if we don't win the Champions League in May.

Wasn't the Campbell deal lined up by Appleton, before Bowyer took over?

Oh yeah that's correct. Good memory.

One of the biggest scandals ever how he didn't get dogs abuse from us. Was meekly applauded by on the pitch after his misdemeanor.

He was cleared in the end wasn't he?
