Don't think a Center mid is needed if we can have 4 creative players at the top and then 2 anchors out of Lowe, Evans, Akpan, Lenihan, Guthrie and Williamson, the problem is not with defending we are pretty solid as a unit, its the creativity up top but with Conway, Mcgeady, Marshall, Watt, Graham, Rhodes, Bennet and Jackson we would have more than enough fire power till the summer.

Pretty sure there's at least a couple of anchors among those midfielders.

Having seen Watt twice recently against us for different teams, he looks a good player, reminds a bit of Ben Marshall though in the fact that he's got very good feet and looks like he should be an excellent player... Though like BM, I worry he might look good but not so much end product.

Hopefully he will link up well with our lads and both he and BM can start to fulfil their potential.

He's got more goals and assists this season than Marshall has in about the last 4!

Fox would be a decent acquisition in my book as a squad player to challenge spurr till the end of the season. Got a good free-kick and corner on him if I remember correctly - plus he helped relegate Burnley about 6 years ago if it's the same bloke, so already a hero..

No chance we should be signing players like Fox... A "do a job" sort of signing, if he isn't good enough for Forrest then that should tell us everything we need to know.

Wonder if we'll discover who this second attacking player we're after is today?

Fingers crossed. Even getting Watt in would give us a massive lift for tomorrow.

You could potentially go to a 4-3-3 with Watt, Rhodes and Jackson with Conway, Evans and Akpan behind and slotting into more of a diamond when we are defending. The pace of Watt and Jackson up top would change our game so much.

It looks like Fox got frozen out at Forest and I just wonder if it was wages or silly bonuses etc being the reason as they seem to have followed a similar path to Rovers. We don't want to be providing a home for other peoples cast offs they need off their books again.

He's an experienced background and he must have had something about him but why get frozen out at a not very good team who are embargoed. Moves around a lot as well so must have a good agent

As discussed, we should be signing players who have the potential to get us out of this league, not one's deemed not good enough for other Championship clubs. Have a look at someone younger in the lower leagues I recon.

Like it. Stick Marshall at right back for the overlap too.

---------------Steele

Marshall---Duffy---Hanley----Spurr

------Akpan----Evans---Conway

----------------Watt

---------Jackson---Rhodes

That sort of setup will suit Rhodes a lot more. The main problem is Conway will hate being that narrow, and unlike olsson Spurr doesnt have the pace to get up and down the left.

Any hope of a central midfielder? seems like the massive area of weakness in the team.

Have we addressed the lack of pace? Is Watt quick?

Midfield can be addressed later. It's no surprise to me that he's focussing the front players. There is no threat whatsoever up front - and a team simply has to be able to put pressure on the oppos back four otherwise you won't win many games. Lambert encouragingly has seen that.

Is Watt not an out and out striker? Always lead the line on the few occasions i have seen him

If we were planning on bringing as many in this window as we liked then I would agree. But a CM who can dictate play, a winger with pace and another striker are bigger priorities for me than LB.

I would be happy to bring Fox in with Spurr as cover, then in the summer let Spurr go and bring in a new LB with the intention of having Fox as cover.

Re Watt, he is a striker who could probably do alright on the left of a front three due to his pace. I can't see him playing anywhere else.

Centre mid is our biggest problem area. We have a set of awful freebies in there and the whole team suffers because of it. None of them can play a pass and we can't play out of defence because they are too scared to have the ball. Until we sort that position out we will continue to lose games.

Well said as it's the truth.

Of course we do, but CM is the most demanding position to play. It's not like great centre midfielders grow on trees.
