I think with a ball playing midfielder in there Evans and Akpan would do much better. At the moment they are both being tasked with jobs they aren't capable of, someone in there to take the creative element away from them would make a huge difference and allow them to concentrate fully on the jobs they were signed for.

Centre mid is our biggest problem area. We have a set of awful freebies in there and the whole team suffers because of it. None of them can play a pass and we can't play out of defence because they are too scared to have the ball. Until we sort that position out we will continue to lose games.

I disagree.

We'll not win games if the back four keep wellying it and the front players can't get into the game - no matter what changes you make to the midfield. Sort that out first because it's an immediate priority for rovers in our current league position, then strengthen midfield. Lambert can see that as well apparently.

I think one of the reasons we welly it forward is because our midfield don't have the ability to take the ball off the back four.

the best part of the clip is how he relishes the confrontational element of it, his sole purpose is to wind the defenders up and he does it fantastically. Having a player that so obviously unsettles player is something we have missed for a long while. The way he angers the defenders is brilliant, not only is he annoying them with his general time wasting manner he is also annoying them with his quality, says a lot when defenders cant even land a kick on a player.

I'm really looking forward to him signing, Rhodes is fantastic goal scorer but even his most ardent fans cant say he has you on the edge of your seat. This lad looks like he could well be that player.

Would be happy if we landed a good winger, while creativity in center midfield is an issue having two defensive minded midfielders in there isn't a bad thing if you have two good wingers and two good forwards. The problem with most creative midfielders is they are most likely overly expensive (for obvious reasons), rubbish at the key defensive side of the game or/and not really that hard working... which would leave all the leg work down to one poor sod in the middle.

To me given what we are looking at so far I would say PL favours a traditional 442 with two wide boys over anything else.

Seems that way and there has been games where lots of crosses have flown in from both flanks. Problem is unless one lands plum on Rhodes forehead or drops in front of him we carry little threat in terms of actual chances. For me if we are going that way then it has to be a Rudy type but with the signings so far and talk of a 'no10' it looks like he may change it. Then we are looking for a good mid again.

Anyone else expecting Jordan Rhodes to leave before the window closes?

I can't see why Danny Graham and Tony Watt would join if they weren't guaranteed first team football. They would have had plenty of other suitors that could have offered them it.

:D clearly no love for him

Sounds like someone who struggles with the rough and tumble of the championship and we've got a lad like that on the right in Henley. Olsson struggled at times but having pace helped him out of a lot of holes.

I'm over the moon at someone like tony Watt but I'd avoid players like Fox for sure apart from a loan as back up but with no agreement to sign. Looks every bit like a guy who does ok initially then gets a contract and it's job done.
