Venkys won't sell Rhodes.

Depends what Lambert is saying though, I guess. He might think he can put £10m/£40k p/w salary to better use. Graham and Watt in to see us through to the summer, then rebuild?

Just trying to work out a] why we would bring in two expensive loan strikers, and b] why they would both join knowing they're not guaranteed to start.

I would guess Graham would be the one to miss out, Watt is definitely a more natural partner to Rhodes. Maybe we have more comfortable benches than Sunderland.

I doubt he can put that to better use with a couple of days left of the window. Now is not the time to sell, reconsider come summer if he feels he can strengthen the squad by selling then.

Sorry, probably didn't explain properly. The money would be saved to spend in the summer - i.e. sell now whilst it is a seller's market, and buy in the summer when prices drop.

In other words, are Graham and Watt replacing Rhodes until the summer? They're definitely good enough to keep us up, and this season is a write-off in terms of promotion.

Probably barking up the wrong tree, just seems odd that one of them would be happy to sit on the bench.

Can't see it. There's no guarantee you would get a better price now than in the summer. Why take on the huge risk of selling him?

That's the thing, the risk is very small at the moment. Rhodes or no Rhodes, we won't be going up or down this season (wouldn't have been so sure before Graham and Watt arrived though!). Had we been closer to the play-offs I would agree completely.

The reward is circa £1 million saved on wages, and six months to see if Graham and Watt can form a partnership that could take us into next season. On paper they look like they should compliment each other very well.

I would like to see Watt and Graham score some goals before we think we will definitely stay up if we sold Rhodes. We are a one man team as far as goal scoring goes. And I've only seen 60 minutes of Graham so its way too early to say but.... I will be amazed if Graham gets more than 6 over the rest of the season.

One of them was me!!

(I'm the one with the beard)

One of them was me as well! When I saw that Retweet I knew good news was around the corner.

Delighted with the signing.

Was Graham a same kind of transfer including agreed fee after the loan period? Thanks for the answer in advance.

Graham's out of contract in the summer, so he will be available on a free.
